Chapter 202 - 145: Frosty Corpse and Flame Cat Demon
He was a smart man. Back when they had first arrived in Silver Moon Town, he had discovered the area likely to be ambushed by Goblins at almost the same time as Lin Mo.
With his wealth of adventuring experience, planning a quest route was a simple matter for him.
Soon, Landon had drawn up a plan and a specific route for their journey.
The first target, as expected, was the Goblin Settlement.
For one, it was relatively close. And while the Flame Cat Demon quest was about the same distance away, a Goblin Settlement was the kind of thing that needed to be destroyed as soon as possible.
His last trip to Silver Moon Town had shown Lin Mo what a terrible disaster could erupt when the number of Goblins grew too large.
Besides, Goblins were perfect. Killing Goblins was one of the fastest ways to grind Low Level Skill Proficiency!
Lin Mo listed out his current Skills.
He set his High Level Skills aside for now. Using them on Goblins would be a waste, and the gains would be minimal.
Coincidentally, he had just learned a lot of New Skills. They were all Level 1, which meant they would improve quickly and he’d see results in no time.
This included his Ice Cone Skill and Earth Shield Skill, which had already reached Level 4. They were an even higher priority, as they were next in line for a full upgrade and evolution.
After prioritizing his skill progression, Lin Mo made the Ice Cone Skill his primary target for leveling up.
He wasn’t in a hurry with the Earth Shield Skill. Using the combination of the Earth Shield Skill and Giant Shield Charge, he could just rush into a pile of Goblins and level it up in a few uses.
So when they encountered scattered Demons along the way, using the Ice Cone Skill was the perfect choice.
They left Silver Stream City and made their way into the forest.
There were far more Adventurers in Silver Stream City now than when Lin Mo had first arrived. As a result, one could often see parties of Adventurers hunting Goblins nearby.
So, just like before, Lin Mo started "kill-stealing" again.
The first time he did it, he gave Landon and the others a shock. They hesitated for a good while, unsure if they should stop him.
They were, after all, Adventurers with skill and status. ’It wouldn’t be right to bully rookies, would it?’
However, after Lin Mo skewered four Goblins with two Ice Cone Skills, he simply dusted himself off and walked away. This left both the rookie Adventurers he’d "stolen" from and Landon’s group completely baffled.
"I remember now... A while ago, I heard a rumor that a strange person had appeared in Loran Forest. He’d help kill Demons but wouldn’t take any materials, earning him the nickname ’Living Angel.’ That couldn’t be you, could it?"
The ever-lively Huck was a regular at the major taverns, so he knew the most about these kinds of rumors.
"Uh..."
Lin Mo was momentarily embarrassed. ’I’ve only done it a few times,’ he thought. ’How did I get famous already?’
In truth, it was mainly because his actions were so bizarre. Normally, when High Level Adventurers encountered Low Level Adventurers, the ones with poor character might bully them, while the nicer ones would simply ignore them and go their separate ways.
Then suddenly this oddball shows up, pretending to "bully" the rookies. Just as the rookies were sighing about their bad luck and preparing to bite the bullet, they’d turn around and suddenly realize—
’Huh? This guy isn’t even taking the materials?’
’We still get to collect the materials! Heh heh heh...’
Such a stark contrast was inherently eye-catching and made for a great topic of conversation. The Minstrels were also happy to sensationalize it, so the story naturally spread.
"So, why do you do it?"
Huck asked with a curious expression. Ever since he’d heard the rumor, he’d been dying to ask this question.
What was he getting out of it?
What else could Lin Mo say? He could only force an explanation:
"Well, you know what they say—hard work makes up for a lack of talent. I’m not a genius, I just have to practice a lot..."
Landon’s mouth twitched. He was speechless.
Huck, however, was more blunt: "Like hell I believe you!"
"But if you need to, we can leave all the Goblins we find on the road to you."
’That’d be fantastic!’
Lin Mo was thrilled. Now he wouldn’t even have to bring it up with them.
