Chapter 314 - 184: The Silver Goblin’s Message
I wonder how flexible Mountain Copper is?
But even if it is, it’s useless...
Unlike Mithril and refined gold—which, while expensive, can at least be mined and purchased—Mountain Copper is a material that has all but vanished.
Rumor has it that only small deposits exist in a few ancient Secret Realms, making it something money can’t buy.
’Whatever, I shouldn’t dwell on it.’
Lin Mo looked at Lady Beixila and asked, "By the way, what about Landon and the Cyan Orchid Squad...?"
’I’ve gotten my reward, but Landon and the others from the Cyan Orchid Squad also put in a lot of effort during this operation.’
"Rest assured, I’ve already made arrangements for the Cyan Orchid Squad."
Lin Mo nodded, unsurprised.
’Lady Beixila was quite meticulous. He had only asked to be sure.’
’The rewards were settled, so it was time to get down to business.’
Lin Mo hadn’t forgotten that Lady Beixila had also mentioned she had something to discuss with him.
"About that matter you mentioned earlier..."
Beixila stood up. "As for that, come with me."
Lin Mo followed behind her, and they arrived at the conference room in the City Lord’s Mansion.
Someone was already sitting inside.
He was covered in bandages and appeared to be injured.
"Chairman Vick?"
Indeed. The man before him was Vick, the chairman of the Silver Stream City Adventurer’s Association.
If Lin Mo remembered correctly, at the same time they had gone on their expedition to the Cave, Vick had entered the Core Area of Loran Forest to search for information on the Goblins and the Lawrence Clan.
’He was finally back, but he looked injured?’
’This was no small matter. As chairman of the Adventurer’s Association, Vick was powerful—at least Elite Level, same as Flora, which meant Level 10 or higher.’
’If even he got injured, just how strong was the enemy?’
"Long time no see, young friend."
Seeing Lin Mo, Vick smiled. Following his gaze, he instantly knew what the young man was thinking. "It’s nothing, just a few minor injuries..."
"More importantly, there’s something I need to ask you."
Vick’s expression turned serious. "A few days ago, did you enter a Secret Realm?"
"Yes."
Lin Mo nodded. City Lord Beixila knew about it, too.
Before he entered the Secret Realm, Shefilya had specifically sent a message back via carrier pigeon.
"Can you tell me the exact times you entered and exited the Secret Realm?"
Lin Mo thought for a moment before giving him the times.
"It matches!"
Vick looked energized. "Can you tell me what happened in that Secret Realm? More specifically, did something happen *to* the Secret Realm?"
"I don’t mean to pry. I just want to know, were there any strange changes to the Secret Realm around the time you left?"
Lin Mo frowned in thought. "I don’t think so? If I had to say, the Secret Realm was part of an inheritance from a predecessor. I was just lucky enough to receive it."
’Chairman Vick is so serious. Something important must have happened. This is no time to hide information. A brief explanation shouldn’t be a problem.’
"I see."
Vick’s expression filled with understanding.
"Inheritance-type Secret Realms like that one usually have a treasure or a Magic Array as their core. After the inheritance is obtained, these items are taken away or disappear, and the Secret Realm naturally closes and collapses with them."
Lin Mo nodded, waiting for him to continue.
"According to the timeline you provided, if there are no discrepancies, then right after you left that Secret Realm and it subsequently collapsed and vanished, I discovered another Secret Realm that suddenly materialized in the Core Area of Loran Forest."
"I see. The spatial fluctuations from one Secret Realm closing must have affected another one nearby."
Lady Beixila nodded, then explained to a bewildered Lin Mo, "If multiple Secret Realms exist in the same region, they are all anchored to the same primary space. If one of them undergoes a change, it affects the primary space, which in turn impacts the stability of the other Secret Realms."
"In fact, based on Lin Mo’s description, it’s highly likely that the Secret Realm where the Goblins were hiding was a sub-space that had branched off from the one left by the predecessor."
"Therefore, when the primary Secret Realm vanished, the one in the Core Area was completely exposed."
Lin Mo finally understood what was going on.
"So the reason we couldn’t find the Goblins’ main base before was that they were hiding in a Secret Realm the whole time?"
"Precisely."
Vick nodded. "After I discovered the newly revealed Secret Realm, I went to investigate and saw a massive swarm of High-Level Goblins."
"To be specific... I saw Lord Level Goblins—Silver Goblins. And not just one, but three of them!"
"Two of them were Low Tier Lords, likely Level 9 and Level 7, and the last one had already reached the level of a Middle Tier Lord. If their bloodline continues to evolve, they might start progressing toward becoming Golden Goblins!"
Lin Mo knew this well. A Low Tier Lord referred to a Level 6-10 Demon, which corresponded to the Senior Level among Professionals.
Middle Tier was Level 10-20, corresponding to the Elite Level for Professionals.
"Wait, you went in to investigate by yourself?"
’Lin Mo suddenly realized something. For Vick to know the Goblin Lords’ strength so precisely, had he fought them himself?’
"Heh heh..."
Vick scratched his head with a grin. "I tore an arm off the Level 7 Lord, and the Level 9 one is badly injured. The one that reached Middle Tier Lord is about as strong as me, maybe a bit stronger. I couldn’t beat him."
"If that guy hadn’t gotten in the way, I could’ve slaughtered the other two Lords."
’Jeez... He charged into the Goblins’ nest all by himself. No wonder he was injured...’
’To put it bluntly, he brought these injuries on himself.’
’Of course, putting it nicely, it meant he was confident in his strength—brave and responsible enough to want to gather more intel on the enemy for Silver Stream City.’
"You’re not a young man anymore, Vick. You should put your safety first,"
Beixila reminded him.
"Haha, I know, I know... I had just finished off a few Bronze Goblins when those guys popped up. After I couldn’t beat the Middle Tier one, I made a run for it."
’Like hell he "knows." So if he could have won, he would’ve just wiped out the Goblins on the spot?’
"Besides that, is there any other intelligence on the Goblins?"
"That’s what I did for the next few days... Based on my observations, that massive horde of Goblins has about twenty to thirty at Level 5, over a hundred at Level 4, and even more below Level 3. There were too many of the lowest ones to count..."
"And the Lord Level ones didn’t find you?"
"They did, but that one is a Mage. He’s slow and couldn’t catch me, and the other two didn’t dare to give chase."
...
’He couldn’t catch him, but he probably ate a few magic spells.’
’Lin Mo didn’t believe he would have gone out without Life Potions, yet he still came back injured. This meant the Potions he brought weren’t potent enough. He must have been seriously hurt at the time, and likely more than once.’
’He was acting all casual and cool now, but the situation at the time must have been extremely dangerous...’
"The Goblins hiding in that Secret Realm don’t represent their entire force, but this can at least serve as a reference for the combat power of their upper echelons."
Beixila finished speaking and took a deep breath. "The exposure of the Secret Realm is both a good and a bad thing. Judging by the recent movements of the Goblins outside the city, that Middle Tier Silver Goblin has most likely already started gathering its kin to attack the city."
’So, the Goblin siege is finally coming...’
