Chapter 118: I Heard You Have a Female Living in Your Private Residence?
’It would’ve been even better if this house was next to Hu Yan’s, but a free gift is always a good gift.’
Besides, this place was great. It had a large courtyard, which would be perfect for a vegetable garden.
It wasn’t as large as Hu Yan’s house, but it was closer to the shopping district. It also had a huge swimming pool filled with fresh, running water channeled down from the mountains. A shaded pavilion was built beside it, and there was even a swing set.
The house had three stories, enough for each of them to have their own room.
Zelda looked around and said, "This is one of the better properties in the area. They’re in high demand. Even now, its market value is several hundred million Star Coins."
Hearing Zelda’s words, Yue Junxiao gasped in shock. He turned and muttered to Yan Yichen, "The property prices on the Main Star are insane."
Zelda’s comment also indirectly confirmed that the value stated by the System was equivalent to the actual market value; it didn’t inflate the price.
Likewise, the quality and price of the items in the mall were directly proportional.
A premium item from the System would only fetch a higher price on the open market, never a lower one.
Although Yue Junxiao had lowered his voice, everyone present, except for Bai Zhi, had excellent hearing.
After looking around, Lang Qiu explained, "That’s normal. This house is in a prime location. Plus, it’s spacious and has these kinds of renovations. Five or six hundred million would be considered a bargain."
After hearing Lang Qiu’s explanation, Yan Yichen had a very clear understanding of his own position. "Bai Zhi, I’ll make a fan for you tonight. Can you leave the door unlocked for me?"
Yue Junxiao watched as the incredibly calculating Yan Yichen offered himself up to Bai Zhi, leaving him in the dust. He instantly rushed over, hip-checked Yan Yichen aside, and cursed, "Yan Yichen, you’re too damn scheming! You scheming bird!"
After cursing him out, he immediately turned to Bai Zhi with pleading eyes. He deliberately glanced left and right to make sure the others weren’t approaching before leaning in and whispering to her as if presenting a treasure, "Bai Zhi, I’ll turn into my beast form for you tonight so you can pet me."
Then, he straightened up and gave Bai Zhi a conspiratorial wink, as if promising he wouldn’t tell anyone else.
’This was a little secret he’d worked so hard to discover. If they all found out, he’d lose his edge!’
’While they were still in the dark, he had to make good use of this small advantage and get her to give him the weekend!’
Yue Junxiao’s words made Bai Zhi’s eyelid twitch. She instinctively glanced at the others, then cleared her throat, her cheeks growing warm. "Keep your voice down."
What they didn’t know, however, was that Lang Qiu’s hearing was extraordinary. Even though the two of them were whispering, he still managed to catch some of it.
Lang Qiu raised an eyebrow, a thoughtful glint in his eyes. ’So Bai Zhi has this kind of secret little quirk?’
’I should give it a try next time.’
Just then, Yan Yichen, who had been hip-checked aside by Yue Junxiao, recovered and rushed back over. "You’re the scheming one!" he said indignantly. "What’s it to you if I give Bai Zhi my feathers? If you had any, you could give her some too!"
Yue Junxiao retorted angrily, "Who wants your stupid feathers! I have a tail for Bai Zhi to touch. Do you?"
Yan Yichen snorted, lifting his head proudly. "My feathers have beautiful colors! Bai Zhi said she likes my feathers! I bet she’s never said she likes your fur, has she?"
Yue Junxiao gritted his teeth. "Bai Zhi loves petting my fur the most! My fur is way smoother than your feathers!"
Now, it wasn’t just Lang Qiu; even Sang Mo and Zelda were looking over at them.
The two of them were still oblivious to the fact that their back-and-forth bickering had completely exposed Bai Zhi’s little-known secret.
But Bai Zhi could already feel everyone’s eyes on her. Their gazes were complex, carrying a hint of ’So that’s what you’re into, Bai Zhi’.
It made Bai Zhi’s face flush bright red. She shouted through gritted teeth, "Both of you, stop it!"
Hearing Bai Zhi’s furious shout, Yue Junxiao and Yan Yichen immediately stood there as meek as lambs, not daring to utter another word. They just stared at her with wide, pleading eyes.
Bai Zhi took a deep breath. "We’ve seen enough. Let’s go back."
With that, she practically fled, leading the way out.
Watching Bai Zhi’s hasty retreat, Zelda thoughtfully stroked his chin. If Bai Zhi had this little quirk, then his brother Hu Yan had quite an advantage. After all, Hu Yan’s fur had been groomed to a glossy sheen ever since he was a cub, a quality most Beastmen couldn’t match.
Zelda opened his Light Computer and sent Hu Yan a message.
Zelda: [Latest news. That little female of yours likes fluffy beast forms. You should transform in front of her more often. With your assets, you’re sure to win more of her affection. This is all I can do to help you, brother.]
Zelda: [By the way, your little female actually owns such a nice house on the Main Star. Is she secretly rich or something?]
A short while later, Hu Yan’s reply came through.
Hu Yan: [I know.]
Hu Yan: [How do you know she has a house on the Main Star?]
Zelda: [So you already knew? If you want to win a female’s affection, you have to swallow your pride a bit and make her happy. Maybe you can get her to bear you some little fox cubs sooner, then you’ll have an heir.]
Zelda: [We just left the house she bought. It’s not far from your private residence, the one on XX Street that’s been vacant for so many years.]
Hu Yan: [Got it.]
Zelda stared at the two words, poked the inside of his left cheek with his tongue, then turned off his Light Computer and followed the others.
’Anyway, I’ve told Hu Yan everything I know. It’s up to him what he does with it.’
’I’m really worrying myself sick for my brother’s happiness!’
Meanwhile, Hu Yan, disguised within the palace, mulled over Zelda’s messages. ’Bai Zhi has probably never been to the Main Star before, so it must be because of that cheat ability of hers.’
’Last night, she said her cheat was gone, but today a whole house just appears...’
Hu Yan’s maternal grandfather was walking ahead when he noticed the footsteps behind him had stopped. He turned to see Hu Yan staring blankly at his Light Computer. "What are you thinking about?" he said. "It’s time to go back. Keep your head down, don’t let them recognize you."
Hearing his grandfather’s voice, Hu Yan snapped back to reality and replied, "Just thinking about something."
"What is it?" his grandfather asked.
Hu Yan shook his head and turned off his Light Computer. "It’s nothing. Let’s head out first."
His grandfather looked at him with a frown. "Are you sure it’s nothing? You’re the type to only report good news and never the bad. This time was no different. You didn’t contact us for so many years. Do you have any idea what your mother... SIGH... Don’t you ever do that again."
Hu Yan pressed his lips together. "Don’t worry, Grandfather. I won’t do it again."
His grandfather nodded, then asked, "How much of your spiritual power has recovered?"
Hu Yan replied, "It’s already recovered to SS-level."
His grandfather grunted in acknowledgment. Then, as if remembering something, he asked, "By the way, I heard you have a female living with you in your private residence?"
