Age of Adepts

Chapter 0859 - The Vicious Sophia

However, just as the stone puppets were wreaking havoc on the group of white-armored guards, the Winter Witches' attack arrived.

An ice lance and snow arrows struck the stone puppets' earthy yellow rock bodies, immediately staining their surfaces with a layer of glittering frost. Eventually, it caused their movements to become sluggish and stiff.

With the help of the Winter Witch's sorcery, the white-armored guards finally stabilized their position and surrounded the stone puppets to tease them into attacking while sending out the Rex to try to ram and smash the two stone legs of the stone puppets with heavy weapons like war hammers and chains.

Crumbs flew and rocks crumbled.

For a while, the arena was filled with dull crashing sounds.

"Nasi, you and Hanuman will entangle the stone puppet first, while Ina and I will finish off Sophia and the others first..."

The lead Winter Witch shouted loudly, but her words abruptly froze before she could finish them. With her eyes wide open, she watched distantly as the three Fate Witches on the other side of the street pulled out a strange metal amulet from their arms, then shook their hands and released three tall and powerful metal weapons from it.

"Watch out...hurry up with the shields..."

Unfortunately, before her words could reach the ears of the other winter witches, a storm of metallic projectiles rained down from across the room. Amongst them, there were some searing rays interspersed.

The white armored guards who were gathering around the side of the stone puppets to fight immediately fell to the ground suddenly from the terrifying metallic projectile fire. Although they were wearing leather armor, as soon as the metal projectiles grazed their bodies, they would be sprayed with a puff of blood.

If they were hit by a projectile, a huge radiating blood hole would be enough to put a white armored guard down.

In the frenzied firing of the 3 magic shooters, the white-armored guard instantly fell most of the way down, almost all of them with penetrating wounds of broken limbs.

And after penetrating the battlefield, the metal projectiles didn't stop, whizzing towards the stunned Winter Witches.

Crackling explosions popped like beans.

The ice shields on the bodies of the four Winter Witches were shaken, and even the street wall behind them was puffed out, turning it into a sieve with holes everywhere.

"Damn, they actually brought metal puppets out! Quickly, summon the snow beast..."

Being the most skilled at fighting, the Winter Witches certainly couldn't be defeated so easily.

Once the four Winter Witches had withstood the initial attack, they also took out their signature skills.

One Winter Witch fell behind and frantically began summoning Ice Monsters.

In the midst of her rapid spell, a large mass of frosty snow fields formed in rapid succession, from which a number of strange ice and snow monsters pounced out with a cry. There were cold ice beasts whose entire bodies were made up of transparent ice crystals, snow plain wolves covered in ice ballast, snow giants with two heads and four arms that were sturdy and strong, and ice breath monsters that were purely made of frozen ice gas....

These monsters roared out of the ice and snow, fighting to kill the stone puppets that stood in front of them.

There were also two Winter Witches who worked together to hold up an ice shield, blocking the metal projectiles and energy rays that were as dense as rain for themselves and their companions. The head witch who had vacated her hand, on the other hand, floated into the air with a sardonic smile and began to rain down a large ice storm over the heads of the several Fate Witches.

As for the apprentice witches brought by both sides, they also shouted and joined the battlefield.

It was just that with their strength, they weren't strong enough to participate in the battle of the official witches, but each used their abilities to protect themselves and barely survived in the corner of the battlefield.

However, what was shocking was that the apprentice witches on the side of the Witches of Destiny, who were originally not favored, had thrown out elemental crystals and summoned a group of strange elemental puppets.

Among them were a giant rock python that was good at attacking, a tall fire elemental that could act as a fire turret, and a wind elemental that flew at amazing speeds....

These elemental puppets were only at the highest level of Quasi-Sorcerer, so they would not have had any effect on the battlefield, but they were too numerous. Twelve elemental puppets of the Quasi-Sorcerer level rushed up and beat them up, but they broke up the defense line of the ice and snow monsters, allowing the three high rank 1 stone puppets to swing their heavy bodies in front of the four Winter Witches.

The ice barrier that the Winter Witches had supported burst under the stone puppets' huge stone fists, and the two witches who had worked together to support the barrier fell to the ground bleeding, losing their combat power for a moment.

The one who was floating in mid-air and was blasting the Fate Witches with her Ice Sorcery was furious, and the ice storm turned, actually scraping towards the group of apprentice witches.

The windy icy freezing air blew past the witches' apprentices, and without waiting for them to flee from their spot, they instantly froze into an ice sculpture of various shapes and sizes.

Alicia and the other three witches who were flying in the air couldn't help but frown at the madness of the Winter Witch.

No matter how well-founded the reason was, the fact that they were attacking a group of apprentices as an official witch would inevitably arouse displeasure. If it wasn't for the resolution of the Witch Council, Alicia and the other three girls would have been unable to help but put a stop to it.

However, the Winter Witch's madness was the beginning of their defeat.

Once the ice and snow barrier broke, they also lost their ability to defend themselves against stone puppets and magic shooters.

The Winter Witch, who was responsible for summoning the Snow Beast, was also struck by the stone puppet's punch on the ice shield and fell to the ground with a mouthful of blood. Only the head witch was still trying to fight with her swift Ice and Snow Sorcery.

Unfortunately, she soon fell under the thick wooden stick of Sofia, the Berserk Witch.

Once Sophia transformed into the Berserk Witch, she could ignore the freezing and slowing effects of her opponent's Ice Sorcery. So the stone puppet might not be able to catch up with the other party, but she could.

After putting down the lead Winter Witch with a single stick, Sophia then led the remaining two Fate Witches to begin quickly rescuing the trapped Sorceress Apprentices.

The group of Sorceress Apprentices were frozen for a short time, so all of them were rescued except for the two lowly guys who were directly frozen to death.

Seeing the casualties of the female apprentices she had brought out, Sophia's one eye with a black eyepatch burst out with a fierce light.

The other was still glaring fiercely at her as she carried her rough wooden staff to the lead witch who couldn't stop vomiting blood on the ambush.

"Sophia, this time you're tough! You even brought out the Puppet Talisman and the Elemental Summoning Crystals... Hmph, without them, you..."

While the Winter Witch was still baring her teeth, Sophia's wooden staff fell from her hand, pounding down on her fragile skull and instantly exploding into a bloody mess.

The entire street was instantly quiet.

Even the three neutral witches floating in the air were so stunned that they didn't know how to react for a moment.

"Killing our people, you think you can still live? Hmmm..." snorted Sophia, bringing up her rough wooden staff and shaking the sticky blood sauce that continued to drip from its tip, turning to the three remaining winter witches.

"No...no...don't kill us...we...didn't kill any of you..." the Winter Witch who was being stared at by Sophia instantly turned white with fear, her entire body already shaking into a ball.

"Two of us died, and you seem to have only killed one... that's not fair!" Sophia smiled sardonicly with a crossed face.

The crowd was speechless for a while.

It's only two apprentices who died on your side, but on the Winter Witch's side, it's an advanced 1st rank witch!

Is this... is this comparable?

But no winter witch dared to argue with her again under the fierce glare of the other woman's forced gaze.

"Compensation...we are willing to pay!" The three winter witches panicked and explained.

"Well, you'd better keep your magic crystals to yourselves! It's not fair that one more person has died on my side now, so one more must die on your side too. Go ahead, who do you choose to die?"

Sophia's gloomy voice had just entered their ears, and all the Winter Witches and Apprentices couldn't help but shudder, their faces pale at the same time.

They looked at me, I looked at you, the three witches and the twelve apprentices were all speechless for a moment.

"Hmph, if you don't want to choose, then let me choose for you!" Without hesitation, Sophia raised her rough wooden staff again.

"I choose...I choose...her!" The one with the highest status of the three remaining Winter Witches saw Sophia's single fierce eye staring at her and hurriedly and frantically casually pointed out an apprentice girl.

The chosen apprentice girl was instantly horrified beyond measure, screaming and jumping up with the intention of fleeing.

Tong Tong.....

An intense barrage of bullets swept through the area, and the apprentice woman was smashed to pieces, her broken body and sticky shards of flesh staining the surrounding apprentices with blood.

Many of the female apprentices screamed in unison, and a few even blacked out and fainted.

"Arrest them all and bring them back to the Witch Tower, and if you encounter anyone who resists, kill them on sight!"

With a heavy stroke of Sophia's rough wooden staff, the Fate Witch apprentices that had sprung up tied up the other members of the group, even the three witches were no exception.

As for the white-armored guards, no one dared to extend a hand to help them even as they wailed all over the ground for help.

Seeing that the Fate Witches had taken control of the scene, the three high-minded neutral witches only hesitantly flew down.

This battle today had clearly crossed the line!

But the three of you, Alicia, looked at me and I looked at you, but none of them dared to step forward to correct Sophia's 'mistake'.

Aren't these Fate Witches usually weak fellows? How did it become so 'brutal' and 'ferocious' this time?

The city guards in the distance were even more frightened and trembling.

They might be used to seeing blood and killing, but when the object of the killing and bloodshed was a group of witches, they couldn't help but shudder.

What were witches? Witches are the most privileged people in the North!

Since when has it been possible to hunt them like a wild animal...this is incredible!

Tossing Alicia a bag of magic crystals as compensation for breaking the walls and floors, Sophia took her men and escorted the group of captives away.

There wasn't even anyone in the entire street who dared to stop them for a second!
