Age of Adepts

Chapter 0867 - Silent Swamp.

The war between the Witches of Fate and the Witches of Winter is both bizarre and absurd.

The contrast between the strengths and weaknesses of the two sides was so stark, yet their behavior on the battlefield was of a different extreme.

Fate witches and apprentices never cared about their own territory or resource points being attacked. Once they realized that the strength of their side was not superior, they would immediately retreat. If the opponent insisted on pursuing them, they would even leave behind elemental magic puppets to break the back, giving themselves a chance to get out of the battlefield.

But once the Fate One had the advantage, the witches and apprentices who had gathered in groups could form a daredevil squad with cheap elemental magic puppets and charge into the most dangerous parts of the battlefield. They, on the other hand, would hide in the safety of the rear or use instant wands or sorcery scrolls to attack the enemy.

In this way, the Fate One had the lowest casualties on most battlefields!

The Winter Witches had once made a statistic, and the battle damage ratio between the Winter First Department and the Fate First Department had even reached a staggering 11:1.

Less than two months after the war between the two lines of witches started, looking at the stark and heartbreaking injury reports, Morgana, who usually sat in the Ice and Snow Valley, finally lost her temper and rushed out with a group of Ice and Snow guards.

Strangely enough, the entire battlefield immediately turned upside down as soon as the 3rd ranked witches appeared.

All of the Fate Witches and their apprentices were ordered to withdraw to the Tower of Fate in the Dragon Bone Wilderness, and the ones who were able to stay on the outskirts to implicate the Winter Witches were almost exclusively Crimson Family's Tier 2.

The Winter Witches had tried every possible means to surround these powerful 2nd Classes, but with little success.

Although they wounded the 2nd rank draconian and pushed back the Goblin Tearer that Tigre was driving, they also lost one of their own 2nd rank to a surprise attack by Mary.

Counting inside and out, the Winter Witches were literally losing with no bottoms left!

Seemingly unable to accept this reality, Morgana, in annoyance, took to the battlefield herself, intending to give the other side a hard time.

Unfortunately, the draconians Zacha, Tigure, and Mary who had been cooperating in battle for years never fought her, the 3rd rank witch. As long as there was a battlefield for her, the Crimson Witches never fought head-on, but scattered to avoid it.

However, once they find a 2nd class down on the side of the Winter Witch, Mary with a group of 2nd class vampires will rush in to kill them.

The Winter Witches' ice sorcery was powerful both defensively and offensively, but she would have a hard time with a plurality of vampire attacks. Not to mention that within this group of vampires, there was Mary, the Blood Queen who was about to reach the peak of her 2nd stage.

Mary's attack power was obviously on the weak side, even the strength of the blood claw attack with blood energy attached to it was only 180 degrees. However, it couldn't withstand the fact that Mary's attacks were as swift as lightning.

Trading speed for damage!

Mary's three claws per second blood shadow attack stacked up amazingly.

And after fusing the Exotic Runes, Mary's normal attacks also combined the corrosive properties of Blood Energy and the ignoble defense of Shadow damage.

These two magic effects were not deadly, but they were exceptionally difficult to deal with. Even if those Winter Witches wrapped themselves in a hard shell of ice, they could hardly resist the penetration of the two magical effects.

With the exception of the 3rd rank witch leader, Morgana, when the other winter witches encountered Mary, they would be unable to fight or escape. Even if they were allowed to cry, it would be difficult for them to escape the vampire group's rounds of sneak attacks.

.................

The Silent Swamp.

On the outskirts of the Dragonbone Wilderness, as a rare lake and swamp terrain in the vast plains, the Silent Swamp could be considered a not too big or small danger.

Under the heavy cloudy and damp fog, large and small pools of water and rotten mud ponds could be seen everywhere. Many places looked like green grass, but if you really stepped on them, you would immediately fall into a swamp made of mud and foul water.

There are also many aquatic demons that can be found all over the Silent Swamp, once an outsider enters, they will first lurk in the mud without making a sound and follow closely. When the other party is trapped in the mud and swamp, they will pounce on them like ferocious beasts, using their sharp claws and teeth to tear the warm flesh from the enemy's body and take the opportunity to feast on it.

It was because of the gloom and danger of the place that almost no merchant traveler ever dared to pass near the Silent Swamp.

Today, however, a band of witches descended from the sky and broke the peace of the place.

Morgana jumped down from a 3-meter tall snow eagle, her feet stepping on the wet and muddy ground, and inhaled the nauseating stench of decay, frowning deeply.

"Sure they're in there?"

The object of Morgana's question was the deputy chief Cerro on her side.

Thurlow was a rank 2 witch with a body and face that were both handsome, but her appearance was cold and unlike a living person, and she had the smell of an ice beauty resurrected.

Upon hearing that, she cast a spell to perceive it first, before nodding solemnly, "The other party is still inside the swamp. When Zevleena was wounded by her, she purposely hung a layer of winter's cold on her body. The other party didn't have the ability to melt away that cold so easily..."

Morgana also closed her eyes and perceived it.

Sure enough, a familiar icy cold breath led deep into the swamp and was slowly spreading.

"Then hurry up and do it! Don't let that bitch Mary escape from our grasp again...Thurlow, you take the men up this end of the bib and find it, and I'll go to the other end and block her retreat. Be sure to capture this damned Blood Queen alive today!"

With that said, Morgana took a step forward and her entire body quickly condensed into a huge ice sculpture.

In the next second, the ice sculpture shattered and disintegrated, turning into glittering ice slag all over the ground, while the Morgana hiding in the ice sculpture had already flown away.

"You all heard the chief's words as well?" Thurlow looked cold as she ordered, "You two, in groups of two, spread out and find that Mary for me. This time with the chief, I'll see if the vampires still dare to show themselves... Go!"

This time around, there were 8 Winter Witches in the big attack. Apart from Mogane 3rd rank and Thurlow 2nd rank, the other six Winter Witches were also 2nd rank.

At this moment, when they heard the order, the witches bowed to the order, and one by one, each of them used a strange technique and flew into the Silent Swamp.

It was a small island located deep in the swamp.

The surrounding area was full of mud and stinking water, and only a hundred-meter radius of the island had a solid piece of land to stand on.

And Mary was on the island now.

She was standing on the edge of the island, standing upright and looking out in the direction she had come from.

The fog was so dense and wet here that she could not see far.

Moreover, mud, stinking water, shrubs, thorns, and eerie ghost trees were everywhere, so there were simply too many places to hide. Moreover, there seemed to be something odd inside the Silent Swamp, even spiritual perception couldn't penetrate through the veil of strange water mist.

Therefore, less than thirty meters apart, it would be a thousand times harder to spot a guy hiding!

"Well, you won't get away with it!" A solidly bound and bloodied witch lay at Mary's feet, gritting her teeth, "With the cold of winter on you, our people can clearly smell it from ten miles away. You won't be able to escape back to the Dragonbone Wilderness today..."

"Escape? Why run away?" Mary looked unfazed, a faint smile on her face.

"Our leader has also come after us... You think you can compete with a 3rd rank witch?"

"Oh, you're right indeed, Morgaine is already here. But she's already circled around to the back of the Silent Swamp, trying to block my retreat. There's no more 3rd rank witches in the front battlefield!"

"What...what are you trying to do?" Seeing that the other party was in the middle of being hunted, yet they did not look panicked at all, but instead knew everything that was happening on the outskirts of the Silent Swamp.

This couldn't help but cause a whiff of something wrong with the Winter Witch Zevleena's heart.

Could it be....

Unfortunately, not even giving her a chance to think about it, Mary flicked her toes and kicked her into the muddy pond in front of her.

"Bastard...you..."

Zevleena only had time to curse bitterly before she sank into the muddy stinking water with a gurgling bubble. Visible to the naked eye, a few clear lines of water in the mud pond were quickly plunging towards where she had sunk.

Some were nothing more than ordinary magical creatures of the witch level, and even if the 2nd rank witch was wounded and tied up, it was impossible for the other party to actually kill her. It was only that some suffering was inevitable!

After Mary had done all this, she also leapt up without hesitation, her blood bat wings fluttering behind her back, transforming into a blood red line and pouncing in the direction she had come from.

On the right side of her waist, a mass of blue ice sores began to disappear at a speed visible to the naked eye under the impact of the ferocious blood energy.

Somewhere in the Silent Swamp.

Lill was gently floating ten meters above the Silent Swamp, flying forward slowly while not stopping her eyes from scanning everything here.

The mud swamp wasn't actually still, but was flowing slowly in a certain direction. It was only a layer of soft meadow floating above the mud, which gave the wrong visual that it was standing still.

And within the mud, there were apparently quite a few wild demons as well.

Or silt monsters, or drowned zombies, or old ghost women....

Either way, there was no escaping Lil's mental perception.

That Mary had always been known for her cunning and cruelty, and the Winter Witches were hardly a match for her when they fought alone. But right now, Lir had her own companions half a mile away on her left and right, which made her feel a little more at ease.

No matter how ferocious that Mary was, she wouldn't be able to stand up to three or five flexes herself!

As long as the opponent is entangled for three to five quarters of a second, once the surrounding partners close in, that so-called Queen of Blood will have no way to fly. In this way, the great enemy could be captured without alerting the chief lord, and he himself would be considered to have made a great achievement for the family.

After returning, the reward would definitely be satisfying!

Therefore, the Winter Witches searched in a loose formation in order to draw that guy out precisely as quickly as possible.

As Lille was slowly searching forward, she suddenly sensed the cold of winter not far ahead. And the other party was rushing towards her at high speed like an arrow.

Damn it, it was that Mary....

The Lir Witch's eyes immediately narrowed.
