Age of Adepts

Chapter 1259 - Admission Ceremony

"You can call me Fireman!"

Grim looked up at the oddly shaped large scorpion and said bluntly.

In this kind of team that was complete strangers to each other, keeping a low profile might save oneself from some unnecessary trouble, but it would also lower one's evaluation in the eyes of the rest of the 'partners'.

Once a certain fellow was identified as 'weak' by the rest of the group, what was sure to await it was a great deal of hardship and violation of its own interests.

There were few good people who could be 'friends' with a witch demon, and if they were not as strong as others, they would be oppressed. Such things are unavoidable wherever they go!

So, new to the scene, Grim is low-key, but unprecedentedly tough in his attitude.

"Fireman? I've never heard of that name before... What, have you two heard of it?" The latter sentence of the Sand King's question was about the two large men who were standing quietly by the side.

To be honest, these two oddly shaped guys had also long since made Grim's heart palpitate in secret.

The first one should be the Herculean Medusa from its appearance alone.

Medusa was a creature that seemed to have only females and no males, and as for how they reproduced, that was beyond Grim's understanding.

This was a bizarre Medusa that was tall, yet had a perfect blend of strength and grace.

She stood tall, her upper body completely in the form of a curvaceous and graceful human beauty, and her red mantle torso was covered in a dense, stacked layer of indigo-colored, sharp-toothed scales.

The two large bulbous protrusions bulging in front of her chest were so majestic and huge that it was as if there were two football-style ones stuffed underneath the scales. And with every move she made, she was shaking slightly, extraordinarily eye-catching.

The six arms, also covered in fine scales, each holding several different styles of weapons and defensive gear, the magical power on them glowing, at a glance you can tell they are special magic weapons.

Behind her dragged a ten-meter long serpent's tail, which was able to support her body as it snaked around the rough ground.

As for her pointed cheeks, they were perfectly in line with human aesthetics, appearing so beautifully feminine. However, those narrow, cold vertical pupils, greenish-purple vivid lips, and a head full of frightening snake hair that was constantly writhing... all of these were striking markers of her fearsomeness and cruelty!

It wasn't that there weren't any such creatures like Medusa under Grim, but the Medusa that had reached the 4th intermediate level was the first one I had seen.

Such a creature could work from near and far, and also had powerful petrifying abilities, and was also an exceptionally difficult magical creature!

And not too far to her side, there was a strange presence pinned up.

Seriously speaking, this fourth guy was a huge and hazy blue light.

In the dense blue light, you can vaguely see a strange skeletal model outlined by stars and white dots of light, resembling a human or a beast, simply bizarre to the extreme.

Star spirits... this was a star spirit from the Spirit Realm!

Grim was screaming wildly inside.

Damn it, the last time I ran to the door I didn't even see this kind of special creature exclusive to the Spirit Realm, but I never thought I would encounter it today in the depths of this vast expanse of starry sea.

This kind of star spirit was a special kind of life form, they had no flesh and blood, no torso, only a strange body infused with phantom energy. They were able to convert any kind of magical energy into strange phantom energy, and then use it to cast incredibly powerful phantom secret spells.

Since Pyloric Energy is not part of the same energy system as most supernatural abilities, ordinary creatures have almost no means of defending themselves against it.

According to some sorcerers who have been in contact with Pyloric energy, to defend against strange energies outside of this system, the sorcery of the Elemental Spectrum is not very good, but instead, a shield of pure energy with the elemental characteristics removed is more useful.

There were also sorcerers who had parsed the idea that psionic energy was the singularity formed by the combination of mind power and pure energy. The only way to kill star spirits was to defeat the psionic energy shell outside their bodies and destroy the psionic energy nucleus inside that housed their souls.

But such a thing was obviously easier to know than to do, and a powerful Star Spirit was much harder to deal with in every way than a spellcaster of the same level. So if it wasn't necessary, Grim wouldn't want to make an enemy of a star spirit!

"Sand King, there's no need for nonsense!" That voluptuous Medusa swam over swaying, "He was invited by Kangenas, don't you believe in Kangenas' vision?"

The Sand King danced the two pairs of huge pincers in front of him and muffled, "The Witch Demon is a guy who loves to fight people, and only the newcomers it can't take down will be pulled into the team. Looks like this Fire Man should have a hand in it too!"

"Well, now that we're all here, Connors, you tell us about the mission! If anyone doesn't want to participate, quit before it's too late, and save yourself the trouble of dragging your feet when the time comes..." the star spirit stepped forward, vibrating the void with a strange spiritual language.

The eyes under the shadow of Grim's hood narrowed slightly, and the depths of his pupils flashed blue.

"Drops, foreign magical energy detected, cannot be attributed to the existing magic system... Please name the subject for this magical energy?"

"Pylons!"

"Drops, a new spectrum of energy has been created, named Psionic Energy... The energy is a combination of powerful mind power and pure void energy, with the powerful ability to empower and teleport the mind..."

"Empowerment...what kind of ability is that?"

"Dripping, psionic energy is originally a special type of spiritual energy, a manifestation of the power of the mind materialized and energized. According to the pyloric energy intensity level, it can be represented by four colors, red, green, yellow and blue, with the red level being the highest and the blue level being the lowest. This is a sign that when the other party's psionic energy color changes, it is a sign that their energy level has increased!"

"Empowerment, on the other hand, is a bizarre use of psionic energy! Star Spirits are able to attach psionic energy to the surface of matter at will, thus simulating some special magical effects. For example: explosion, decomposition, disturbance, binding..."

However, even as Grim was silently paying attention to the Starling, secretly parsing the strange layer of phantom power outside of its body, the other party seemed to have noticed something.

A pair of yellow mangles in the depths of the blue cloud strangely lit up and swept over towards Grim.

The yellow mane representing the power of the Star Spirit and the red light that shot out from Grim's eyes collided together halfway. A wave of energy visible to the naked eye swept past, and both sides couldn't help but take a step back, their looks becoming solemn and dignified at the same time.

The light blue energy clouds outside of Starling's body began to slowly change color, overstretching towards a dense yellow.

This meant that the phantom energy level within the starling's body was rising, on the verge of battle alert!

"Well, in moderation!" At that point, the Witch Demon Kangenas, who was the mastermind, had no choice but to personally step in, "We need to deal with a rank up to level 4 Advanced Ice Dragon this time, so you guys should save some of your energy to vent on that guy!"

With these cold words, a series of bone teeth hanging from Connors' waist suddenly burst one. Then a wall of skeletal bones ten meters long, one meter wide, and two meters high rose up from the ground, dividing Grim and Starling on either side.

The two who were staring coldly had no intention of starting a war, but only used this small conflict to show their strength. The energy ripple that exploded in the air was not of high intensity, but it had already displayed their basic strength.

The Sand King, who lived like a large scorpion, and Silkina, who had a head full of snake hair wildly saving, couldn't help but look at each other, both sensing a disturbing sense of law from that energy ripple.

"Alright, now that everyone is here, I'll make a brief introduction!"

The body of the Witch Demon Kangenas floated in a void half a meter off the ground, and its scarlet soul fire gazed coldly at the crowd.

"The Sand King, from a bizarre bit called the Dune Demon Castle, it is also the king there, ruling over an entire small bit... And what it specializes in is sand attacks, with good cover and attack abilities. In particular, its defense is the strongest among the rest of us!"

That's not disputed!

Not to mention, just by looking at the Sand King's pale golden thick armor, one could imagine how strong its defenses were. Moreover, most insect-like creatures were resilient, and this was something that other races couldn't envy.

"Hehe, skeleton frame, don't you dare brag about me! You're holding me in such high esteem because you want me to be a human shield for you! First of all, if that old dragon's lair has equipment I'm co-opting, no one is allowed to steal it from me..." the Sand King rotated his ghostly green compound eyes and gritted his teeth in a warning.

"No one will steal it from you!" The Witch Demon Kangenas Perspex jawbone trembled up and down and made a crisp chirp, "Serpentess Silkina is taking the highly sensitive route, me, Fireman, and Starling Tulas are all spell casters, so if there really is that 'Earth Barrier', it's definitely yours."

Receiving the Wraith's affirmative reply, that Sand King closed his mouth in satisfaction.

"Serpentess Silsina, from the Shadow Song Plane, she is also a not-so-small real lord there, with nearly ten thousand serpent-haired banshees at her disposal. And what she's best at is melee stalking and petrified paralysis attacks..."

After hearing the witch's introduction, the serpentess Silkina just nodded her head in a lonely manner and did not continue to introduce herself.

"Starling Tulas, from the Spirit Realm, it's a powerful bit that can be compared to the Witch World. What it specializes in, on the other hand, is magical psionic energy, and as for abilities..." here, Congenas paused, clearly somewhat at a loss as to how to describe that strange psionic energy.

"There's no need to introduce too much to His Excellency Tulas. The power and strangeness of a creature like a star spirit is something I think everyone present knows by heart, so there's no need to bother with words!" Grim smiled.

He could tell that it shouldn't be the first time the ones in front of him had gotten together, they already had a faint understanding with each other. Among the several people, I'm afraid that he was the only one who was completely new.

"Then, Sir Fireman, are you going to introduce yourself, or will you let me do so?" The Wraith Kanganus was cold.

"I'd rather do it myself!" Grim stepped forward, "My name is Grim, or you can call me Fireman. I come from the Wizard World, and I also have a small territory of my own in the middle of the continent there. As for what I'm good at... naturally, it's Flame Sorcery! I think this is one of the main reasons why Lord Congenas invited me!"

As soon as the brief introduction was over, Grim could immediately feel that the sense of caution from the rest of the group had somehow diminished a bit.

It was clear that they had recognized their power and tentatively considered themselves 'partners' in the team!
