Age of Adepts

Chapter 1394 - Breaking Up the Beast Tide

With the arrival of the demon tide, the fire and smoke never went away!

Terrifying news of a foreign beast invasion or a Black Forest riot could be heard almost everywhere in the Wizarding Continent. Either way, it would bring horrific calamities and unparalleled impacts to the local mortal world.

From time to time, one could always hear that a certain area had suffered heavy casualties due to the invasion of unknown beasts, or that a former human country had been devastated by a plague outbreak or the invasion of beasts... After hearing such news too often, it caused more and more panic among the people.

With their wives and families, they caught up with the few remaining cattle, or took refuge in the mountains, or followed the vast influx of people to the few areas that had been safe so far. Of these, the areas of Aloise and Hayworth under the rule of the Crimson House have undoubtedly become the safest islands.

The people who live in these two areas have reason to celebrate their own happiness.

Whenever they saw the astonishing number of giant floating ships floating in the sky, and whenever they passed by the border posts and saw rows of tall and powerful metal weapons, a deep-seated sense of security also emerged.

Due to the extensive preparations made by the Crimson Family early on, almost all security hazards in the two territories were monitored in advance. As a result, during the first round of Demon Tide outbreak, all the exotic beasts that had slipped into the Crimson Territory before they had a chance to make a big show were wiped out by the armed forces of the family that had arrived on the news.

The direct consequence of this is that 31 large and small regions in the middle of the continent, other regions have more or less erupted more serious foreign invasion events. But only in the two regions ruled by Crimson, there wasn't even a shadow of a demon to be seen.

Not to mention the invasion of exotic demons, even the Black Forest adjacent to the Alois region, where the demon lords had just gathered a group of beasts and low to mid-ranked demons, was surrounded by a floating giant ship that had come in on the news before they could break out of the forest.

As soon as the Crimson Fleet arrived, without saying a word, it directly airdropped the Magic Dragon One that had arrived on board. Accompanying the Magic Dragon One was a Magic Armament Battle Group that numbered two thousand.

They were no longer the heavy, clumsy, old machines that spewed out large amounts of white steam of the past, but the PG-52 type battle demons that had been repeatedly improved and strengthened by dozens of generations of goblins.

If you look at the overall performance, a PG-52 Combat Armament is already comparable to a 2nd level Sorcerer. If you also consider the fact that they are fearless and obedient, then their cost performance is far better than that of a 2nd rank Sorcerer.

But the power of magic weapons cannot be infinitely amplified.

Basically, the PG-52 is the pinnacle of magical combat mechanics!

This means that Tier 2 is already the limit for mass-produced magical armaments.

To increase the power of the Magic Armament any further, it would be necessary to use more expensive magic alloys and more rare metal resources. And the limitations of resources and materials were obviously not going to allow the Magic Armament to expand indefinitely.

But the Demonic Puppet Dragon's rampage had earned back a bit of face for the Demonic Armament in the end. By relying on the outstanding performance of the Magic Dragon One, the Goblin Magic Armament also finally had a piece of work to show at the high class level.

Therefore, when the Demon Dragon One's huge metal body that was a hundred meters tall appeared in the Black Forest, destroying a spacious avenue dozens of meters wide all the way through the depths of the dense forest, the herd of beasts that had just gathered together crumbled.

With its huge metal body, Mjolnir One is a super armament that can fight against 4th level sorcerers. Although it has the disadvantage of not being able to rotate properly and has many defensive corners underneath its body, with the help of the 2,000 battle weapons behind it, everything is no longer a problem.

The newly gathered beast demons were like a flock of frightened lambs running haphazardly in the depths of the dense forest, being herded and killed at will by Demon Dragon No. 1 along with the Demonic Armament Warband behind them like a roundup.

Those demons that were provoked by the demon tide into a violent nature also charged in groups of three to five against the Demon Armor battle group. Unfortunately, their bravery and fury all crashed in front of the impregnable body of the battle demons.

In the face of the unstoppable metallic frenzy, individual bravery and valor are of no use. Even the sporadic powerful demon lords could create a small wave, but in a flash they would be like a huge wave crashing into a reef and disappear into the stars and foam without a trace.

Poisoned Twilight Lizards, Cracked Hearts, Jackal Men, Wood Spikers, Black Scale Lizards, Wind Wings, Arachnids, Forest Trolls, Woad Tree Men, Mud Shaped Snow Monsters, Armored Tyranids, Skull Crushing Ogres, Earth Crystal Men, Hundred Eyes Ghosts, Stone Singers, Giant Winged Serpent Dragons....

To be honest, the Black Forest of the Sorcerer's World was simply a treasure trove of magical creatures of all kinds and shapes, and even more terrifyingly numerous.

These demon leaders which singled out are dreadful dreadful guys, but once they encounter the formed demon weapon battle group, they also become small shrimps who can't fight alone and set off the storm.

In the face of the Magic Dragon One, the fierce artillery fire of the Magic Armament Corps, and the floating giant ship that dominates the sky... A few thorny demon leaders were killed on the spot by magic cannons, and the remaining little ones scattered without a trace, fleeing into the depths of the dense forest without looking back.

For a time, no trace of the demon could be found within three thousand miles of the Black Forest in the northeast corner of the entire Alois region.

After driving the demons further away, the Armour Warband chose to withdraw back inside the family instead of pursuing them. However, within the 3,000-mile border, the Crimson Fleet had left behind some hidden monitoring witch formations.

This way, it would be impossible for the demons to hide any further actions from the Crimson Family.

A three thousand mile buffer zone was enough for the Crimson Family to smoothly ride out this demonic tide.

It was important to know that it wasn't that easy for the Demon Lords to organize a massive tide of beasts. They don't have any concept of logistics or organizational planning.

With the might of their lords, they could only barely suppress the beast herd for two or three days. Gathering the beast herd and forcing and luring the herd to move towards the human settlement....

Such a complicated operation was fine once in a while. But once the target of the attack was thousands of miles away, it became an impossible task to suppress the herd's restlessness and allow them to arrive at the attack location smoothly.

No high-ranking ferocious beast was willing to endure three to five days of hunger pangs to cross three thousand miles to sneak attack human towns, after all, there were prey all around them which could be used to eat. But once the high-ranking ferocious beasts began to hunt at will, the many beasts and ferocious birds would scatter and flee, no longer difficult to control.

So in a way, the 3,000-mile buffer zone was already enough to become an insurmountable barrier for the beasts!

Of course, the Crimson Family's nearly crushing expulsion tactics were not something that any wizard family could learn. To find the location where the herd was entrenched in the crisis-ridden Black Forest, and then dispatch the family elite to scatter its core main force with a single strike, and take advantage of the situation to expel it to a certain safe distance away.

To accomplish this kind of operation, you need an elite and capable fighting team that is not restricted by the terrain and geography.

There were only a handful of 4th rank forces within most witch families that could barely meet this standard, the rest were either not fist-hardened enough or lacked flying mounts capable of high speed maneuvering in the Black Forest....

And once they were unable to break up the herd with a thunderbolt, then a bloody and fierce formal war was about to take place inside the dark and deep Black Forest. This was not good news for the sorcerer troops who were deep in the enemy territory.

The big families have more resources and money, and can control a plurality of sorcerers with strange combat abilities at the same time. However, most of the small and medium sized wizarding families may only have one wizarding force within the family that they have pulled together with much difficulty.

If such a family's main force is lost in the Black Forest, I'm afraid the entire family will be devastated and will be reduced to a third-rate force.

Therefore, without complete certainty, no witch family would dare to send their valuable battle force to raid the herd. They preferred to hold on to their Sorcerer Gauntlet at their leisure, using War Sorcerer Towers and Sorcerer Beasts to resist the onslaught of the beast herd.

With the strength of the Demon Lords, it was still difficult to breach a formal witch tower.

Thus, the safety of the witches was guaranteed, and there was no risk of wiping out the witch troops.

However, the great disaster that the swarming tide of beasts might bring to the family territory became inevitable!

But in the eyes of the wizards, the losses of the official wizards and wizard forces were unacceptable. As for the mortals in the family territories, their losses were nothing more than numbers on the books to the wizards.

While the death of a large number of people would also cause the witches a headache, wanting them to guard these so-called 'properties' with the lives of their witches was one thing that the witches would never do.

The loss of 'property' could be slowly repaired back, but compromising the family's precious witch resources became absolutely unacceptable!

It was this conservative and short-sighted style of the witches that also made the Beast Tide become so aggressive and harmful, bringing constant turmoil and deep suffering to the entire Witch Continent.

Compared to the central part of the continent, the three major wizards' organizations showed a high degree of organization and discipline.

The Silver Alliance was rich and generous, and in response to the demonic tide, it began to shrink the population within its territory, temporarily relocating mortals to inland areas away from the Spatial Rift and the Black Forest. The town fortresses on the borders were filled with large amounts of metal constructs and puppet creations.

Relying on these indestructible and large numbers of puppet constructs, the Silver Alliance was able to withstand several waves of the Black Forest Beast Tide. Although the financial losses were huge, the people and territories were protected and safe.
