Age of Adepts

Chapter 1518 - The Last Feast

The fall of two great wizards in exchange for the retirement of a 5th rank deity....

Although such a thing was unimaginable, it was most likely a bloody reality that no one dared to face up to.

There wasn't a single rookie in the great sorcerers who were able to advance to the 5th rank and step out of the bitter barrier, all of them were elite sorcerers who had stepped on the remains of millions of people's bones and emerged from the fishy rain. But unfortunately, in the scheming calculations of those at the top, they still belonged to the discardable pawns.

It was just a matter of whether the 'exchange' was valuable enough!

That god of hatred, Ernus, managed to escape as a demigod though, escaping the destruction of the kingdom along with it. But after retreating as a demigod, he lost most of his divine power and the ability to manifest separation and projection.

To fight again, he'd have to fight as a 4th rank original, and the chances of falling were almost 100%!

If he didn't come out of the station, relying on those remaining believers of the Faith Plane, he might be able to hold the throne high and return to the Kingdom of God in a few hundred years. However, with a demigod's body trying to sustain the divine power needs of the believers of several planes, he would only become a divine black hole during these hundreds of years, needing the gratuitous and massive divine power support of other orc gods.

Therefore, in the later stages of the divine war, not only would Ernus not become a helper to the orc god system, but he would severely drag down the other orc gods.

Because he was too fragile!

With a demigod's body still retaining part of his divinity, part of his divinity and part of his divine office, the god of hatred, Ernus, whether in the eyes of witches or other gods, was a delicious cake that had lost its protective power, and anyone would want to swallow it in one bite.

If they weren't in the same deity system, I'm afraid the other orc gods would tear him apart and eat his flesh!

And Grim, who had returned from severe injuries, was forced to fall silent and hide in the secret room of his residence for an inch, beginning the difficult and painful recovery process. Fortunately, while being invaded by the broken rule system, he protected his soul with the Fire God Pearl and did not let the alienation rules invade his soul level.

Otherwise, his legendary Fire Witch journey would have to end and he would have lost the possibility of further advancement!

However, even so, Grim's injuries were unusually grievous.

He had spent three whole years resting inside the Giant Rock Battle Fortress, which had barely recovered to the level he was at before going into battle.

The lurking had also depleted those divine qualities he had acquired previously.

Most of the divinity was used to repair the broken body of the Alienation Rule, while a small portion of it nourished the Star Beast bloodline. Now Grim had also discovered that it was difficult for a Super Tier Sorcerer battle to be like the endless consumption and protracted offensive and defensive transitions of a lower tier Sorcerer.

The battles of super-tier sorcerers were much more terrifying and intense, and it was often only a split second or two between winning and dying.

This requires that the sorcerer must have enough cards and a strong hand, so as to get the upper hand in the cruel and fierce battle. Otherwise, once the opponent was suppressed at a disadvantage, it would be much harder to turn the tide against the wind.

And when Grim came to the duty hall again, it immediately drew the attention and welcome of several great sorcerers. Even that Grand Sorcerer Grim, who always had a cold attitude, pulled him aside and talked eagerly.

"The wounds on your body have recovered, right!" Gleason inquired warmly.

"More of your lord's concern, it's almost recovered." Grim replied politely.

"That's good, that's good..." a smile appeared on Grimson's face, "You should know that during the time you were recuperating from your latent wounds, I had many people asking me for news about you! "

Hearing the other party's intended words, Grim's heart moved slightly.

A lot of people... could be cared for by a 6th rank great wizard would be 5th rank?

What was the factor that made those 6th Order Grand Sorcerers start caring about themselves as well?

Grim pondered as he inquired with genuine curiosity, "I wonder which adults are caring for me? I'll be sure to come to your door to thank you sometime!"

"You don't have to worry about that, it's always a lot..." said Grissom, looking inscrutable, "You've recovered now, and the timing is perfect. In the near future, we'll be launching a final general attack on the orc side, and you'll be just in time to make more money!"

"General attack?" Grim was appalled, "As far as I know, we haven't made too much progress in the last three years, have we! Out of the seventeen gods of the Beastmen God System, apart from the 5th rank god of hatred, Ernus, who was beaten back to become a 4th rank demigod, only the 6th rank god of hunting, Hall, was beaten to become a 5th rank weak god.......with such results trying to take care of the Beastmen God in one battle, why do I feel that it's not very reliable!"

Grissom laughed dumbly, "You still don't seem to have adapted to the Great Wizard's rhythm of life. With our life span of ten thousand years, do we have to kowtow to the orcs just for some secondary planes? That's why Lord Barbara waged the Beast Slaying Campaign, not for territory, not for resources, but for the origin of the gods within the orc gods, ah!"

The Godhead is a more general term that actually refers to the Godhead, the Divinity, the Priesthood!

"What does that have to do with an orc duel?" Grim was still a little puzzled.

"If we don't fight, where is the origin of God? Without the origin of the gods, what are we going to build high level sorcery? The Barbara Witch could have no grudge against that Beast God, and the reason why she picked the Beast God Department as her opponent was purely because of the Beast God Department's stinky reputation in the world of the gods. If you fight them, you won't have to worry about the other god lines running to support them!"

This time it was Grim's turn to be speechless.

Although he had vaguely guessed the reason earlier, it was still a bit annoying for him to have it said by a 6th Order Grand Sorcerer himself.

It had nothing to do with philosophy, justice, glory, or right and wrong....

The sorcerers mobilized the power of hundreds of bits, a powerful lineup of a hundred or so great sorcerers, and the orcish deity lineage conquered and killed in nearly a hundred bits of space, for no other reason than the gluttonous divine origin within the orcish deity's body.

During this period of time, countless bits of space had been destroyed and the number of creatures slaughtered was counted by the billions. How would these unlucky people know that the life of an entire small bit face might not be worth as much as three to five fragments of the God Grid?

And those guys who fought bloodily on the surface battlefield, how did they know that their lives were so cheap and lowly, being weighed by the higher-ups behind the scenes and priced here.

Seeing that Grim looked a bit miserable, Grissom couldn't help but snicker in a heated voice.

"With the might of the Orc God System, if we press too hard and trigger a strong counterattack from them, the price we need to bear will be too great. So, we can stop when we see fit, bite off a few pieces of meat from them, and fill our bellies for now. You... if you still want to gain something, I'm afraid this duel is your last chance. If you miss this battlefield, it will be impossible for you to find another opportunity to harvest the origin of God!"

"Unless, single-handedly, you dare to directly challenge a deity! Hahahahaha..."

At this point, it seemed as if Grim was also extremely amused and couldn't help but laugh up to the heavens.

The other party's words had been made so clear that Grissom naturally understood them as well.

Seriously speaking, if one did not consider camp and ritual beliefs, Grissom's words actually represented the thoughts of the vast majority of witches.

Looking through the multiverse, it wasn't that there weren't things better than the Divine Origin, it was just that the cost of acquiring those things was far greater and more expensive than going to war with the Orcish God System!

In contrast, the Grand Sorcerers aggregated and used pack wolf tactics to round up a not-so-small divine lineage, pulling down some of the divine origin from the deity. It was in the interests of the overall sorcerer to do something so beneficial and inexpensive, otherwise they wouldn't have attracted so many great sorcerers.

Grim, on the other hand, just suddenly blended in, suddenly sensed the truth behind the curtain, and for a moment had some difficulty accepting it mentally!

At least, he'd witnessed the fall of two great wizards....

That's a 5th rank Grand Sorcerer!

In the Bit World, they were all great sorcerers on a par with the Primary True God!

If they died for some idea or belief, Grim felt a little better. But if the meaning of their fall was for some benefit in the 'district', Grim always felt a bit empty inside, and a bit of a disillusioned hollow feeling.

However, as a great sorcerer, such a 'cruel' reality of the world, he would have to accept it after all.

Moreover, the origin of God was not a 'district benefit', but a top-tier resource that could make all great sorcerers flock to it. If Grim now had an inexhaustible amount of God's Origin, creating ten or eight Origin Sorcerers, and then nourishing his own bloodline to the limit, would it still be difficult to advance to the next level?

Thus, despite being a little chipper inside, this last chance to acquire the Divine Origin would not be one he would give up easily!

"Where will the duel you speak of be fought, my lord?"

"The yaka bit!"

"The yaka bit? That... that's the origin of the Beast God A**!" Grim couldn't help but whisper in horror.

Most deities would consider the seat of their own faith sealed as the origin seat, and the seat of the subsequent conquest to rule as the seat of faith. The two were clearly incommensurable.

If the Faith Plane was lost, it would be lost, but it would only be the loss of some believers and less power of faith. But if the Origin Plane was breached, it could mean that the God's Kingdom where the Origin Plane was located would suffer as well, and it was not for them to take it lightly or fall!

The fact that the witches chose to use the Yaka Position as their main battlefield also seemed to be to force the entire orcish divine system to respond to the war.

However, it was not Grim's turn to worry about these behind-the-scenes plots and calculations yet. The only thing Grim needed to be concerned about now was whether or not he was prepared to get a share of this last feast against the Orcish Gods.
