Chapter 708: She Has Zombie Parents (Part 4)
It’s been a month since the apocalypse started, and they can’t stay here any longer. Their daughter is still human and needs to integrate into human society for survival. Staying here isn’t an option, as resources around the county are scarce. Before the apocalypse, the transportation was developed, so there was no lack of anything.
Nowadays, countless people have turned into zombies, and the mutation of flora and fauna has reduced the safe zone for humans.
For their daughter to survive in the apocalypse, she must join a group of humans.
"I don’t want to join a team," Qiann Yan said just as Ruan Xian and Ning Lanxin anxiously stomped their feet in place, waving their stiff bodies. They wanted to touch her but felt it wouldn’t be appropriate, so their hands froze in mid-air.
Qiann Yan: "I can go and have a look at the human safe base. Mom and Dad, you can take me there."
The two who had been anxious stopped, realizing this was plausible. The zombies are not very powerful yet, and hastily joining a team without being able to watch over her constantly does make them uneasy.
"Join a suitable team once it’s found," Qiann Yan replied, understanding their concerns.
They weren’t wrong; she was just a nine-year-old girl, and it was only natural for them to think it safer to send her into a human community.
Perhaps deep down, they couldn’t be sure if they could maintain their clarity forever.
She didn’t want to argue over this; she had the strength to protect herself and them. As long as she was strong enough, she could live anywhere.
Ning Lanxin felt a bit happy and snatched the notebook and pen from Ruan Xian’s hand, writing something with great effort. Though her face was expressionless, it was evident that she was very serious.
[Leave tomorrow; your dad will find tools.]
[Mom will make noodles for you.]
[Practice driving after eating.]
It took Ning Lanxin quite a while to write those three sentences. Qiann Yan stood beside her, watching her write, and finished reading when Ning Lanxin finished.
Her gaze fell on Ning Lanxin’s stiff fingers. Now that their bodies were becoming rigid, holding something as thin as a pen was clearly difficult.
Ning Lanxin had to hold the pen with both hands to prevent it from falling, and writing just a few sentences took a lot of effort.
What kind of willpower made them come this far?
Qiann Yan placed the cat aside and followed Ning Lanxin into the kitchen.
Recently, Ning Lanxin had been teaching her how to cook. They wanted her to integrate into human society but also realized the need for her to become independent at a young age.
There’s no doubt; they are a very good set of parents.
Today’s task was to cook noodles, which was simple but still a bit challenging for Ning Lanxin.
Qiann Yan stood by her side, cooking the noodles according to the steps.
From her memories, Qiann Yan knew they also ate food. Generally, zombies craved raw, live things with a heavy blood scent. Like the zombies outside, they either ate the human brain, gnawed on necks, or consumed internal organs.
These two retained their human consciousness because of their only daughter and didn’t want this remnant of consciousness to disappear, so they always ate with her.
Whatever she ate, they ate.
Even though the bloody smell outside was tempting, they restrained themselves.
They never stayed in the same room as her and always reminded her to lock the door before going to sleep each night.
They even wrote a note telling her that if one day they broke in and were no longer the parents she knew, she should run if possible, and if not, not to show mercy.
