How can I fight?

This time Brand summoned the Adversity Furnace to the battlefield. Ekronia’s Adversity Furnace is the third card of the Adversity Heaven set, costing 30 of any element, and he chose to pay 30 Wind Elements instead. With the previous cost for summoning the Fire Giant Spirit, Brand’s Fire Element Pool and Wind Element Pool levels have dropped to 63/78 and 20/51 respectively.

Ekronia’s Adversity Furnace must be Attached with a Land Card when entering the battlefield, and Brand happens to have the Ember Volcano land card. As soon as he attached the card, a metallic structure brimming with an industrial style appeared atop Ember Volcano in the Travel Mage World.

The Adversity Furnace can be considered the engine of the Adversity Heaven deck. Its purpose is to sacrifice biological cards from the Ekronia series to gain a special resource exclusive to this deck—Energy.

However, Brand doesn’t have any Ekronia soldiers on hand at the moment, and he needs more time. He returned once again to the real world and threw out the third-to-last card in his hand.

By this time, the battlefield situation had reached fever pitch, with the valley swarming almost entirely with Northern Alliance and Flame Temple monks; the Lantoniyan army occupying just a corner of the battlefield, alongside the Naga, Officer Cadets from the Royal Knight Academy, and the White Lion Guards, jointly holding back the opposing forces before the main position.

The situation seemed precarious, but relying on the immense strength of the Life Holy Scripture, they could still manage to hold on. The young man Ecco, full of knightly thoughts, finally understood how Brand intended to lend him a hand.

Unable to contain his excitement, he shouted, "Sir Knight, I didn’t expect you to be such a powerful Summoner!" Apparently, he also mistook him.

But Brand quickly let him fall deeper into error.

The third-to-last card he threw was the Guardian of Defeat card of Dark Adversity, the fifth card of Adversity Heaven, costing fifteen Dark. The feature of this card set is that there’s no limit to the number on the field; each card places ten Guardian of Defeat black Spirit Statue-type creatures into play, and for each corpse on the battlefield, it adds another Guardian of Defeat black Spirit Statue-type creature.

Brand had privately reasoned that if there were a place where this card could be most useful, it must be the battlefield. And now it’s the moment for it to shine.

Brand paid fifteen Dark, instantly reducing the Dark Element Pool to 41/60. But at that moment, the battlefield witnessed the most spectacular scene since the war began.

At this very moment on Mar Highlands, there were thousands of corpses on the battlefield. As the Guardian of Defeat entered, countless black arms thrust out from beneath the slick mud and below the meadows with a ’swoosh’ sound.

"Ah!"

"Mar..."

"Madara...?"

Whether it was the Northern Alliance or the Princess’s soldiers, they all screamed in fright. Some of them had participated in the first Black Rose War and knew very well Madara’s ruthless style of combat; fallen comrades reappearing on the opposing side wielding swords against you was nothing short of a nightmare.

But hadn’t the two nations signed a peace agreement; why had those fearsome entities returned?

However, they quickly realized that these were not the former enemies because the warriors that suddenly appeared, adorned with tattoos all over, bare-chested, the lower half clad in heavy armor, dual-wielding Combat Swords, emerged from the ground and immediately attacked the Northern Alliance.

Are they allies? Princess Griffine couldn’t help pausing for a bit, then she realized something, her silver eyes widening slightly as she looked at Brand: "Br... Mr. Brand, these... these are..."

"You, you are a Necromancer?"

Brand smiled bitterly. He had reserved the use of this card till the end precisely because of this reason, as its summoning effect indeed bore a striking resemblance to a Necromancer’s.

He shook his head, "Princess, have you ever seen a living Necromancer?"

Unexpectedly, these words seemed to remind Princess Griffine of something she shouldn’t have thought of, and her face flushed crimson as she instinctively touched her lips—everyone knows that undead have no body heat, "Sorry, I overthought." The Princess softly acknowledged.

Brand rolled his eyes.

But evidently, the undead do indeed have a bad reputation in the mortal world; this card, whenever possible, should be used sparingly. To prevent misunderstandings, he explained, "Actually, it’s their credit."
