Chapter 1220 - 309: Raging Tide VI
Actually, back in the Black Forest, Mephisto’s power had not yet reached today’s level. In front of Lord Withering Andesa, who controlled the Elemental Domain’s Extreme Realm, he could barely hold his ground.
But after the battle with Andesa, his understanding of the Grey Domain deepened, and he unexpectedly broke through the Enlightenment Element Peak, transitioning into the Extreme Realm; in the history known to Brand, this unprecedented genius Sword Saint would only reach this level about five years later. With this progression, entering the Saint Domain in the grand era is not impossible for him.
Elemental Five Realms.
Enlightenment Element, Side of Truth, Peak Rules, Extreme Realm, Saint Domain.
Since the beginning of the first era, the rules of the world and magic, written upon ’Tiamat’, have always stated such: after the Enlightenment Element, the five ’worlds’ await — the traveler must cross each in turn to touch what Martha calls the ’Final Domain’.
The first world, Youvisto’s Wall of Truth and Thorns, known as the Elemental Wall, is a long wall inscribed on the lines of the World Law, which must be crossed to reach the first world. Mortals call it the Enlightenment Element, the world that touches upon truth.
The second world, White Tower Ovilia, is legendary for upholding all the Order of Vorn. It is the start and end of all Law Threads, and all laws form a super-circle called ’world’ with it at the center. Martha inscribed all truths and laws upon the White Tower, with travelers spiraling around it, gradually comprehending the true meanings of the world.
As if a child walks hand in hand with an elder, mortals call it the Side of Truth.
The third world, Spiral Peak, Yuketra Hill, is the legendary birthplace of all truth. Atop the White Tower, the giant spiral perfectly opposes it, serving as its mirrored image in a land of chaos, described as Martha’s homeland in the Poem of the Blue. Here is the ultimate opposition and harmony of Chaos and Order, where the world is both dark and white, coexisting symbiotically. Old world fragments float amidst endless distortion, with Vorn rooted in this soil, reenacting past, present, and future here.
After mastering the Peak Rules here, one enters the Extreme Realm—the sacred sanctuary.
The fourth world, Final Plain.
This is where Martha created the initial Vorn, now left as a grey-white plain where the most primal Strength and Elements roam. Looking up, above is the Sea of Magic—a vast and unending flow, perpetually moving in one direction, representing the direction of time, space, and all Energy. This place is also nearest to the world’s lowest realm, considered Vorn’s shadow.
Finally, the fifth world, the Initial Lake, the birthplace of Life. It is said to be connected to the abyss pool of the blind Goddess Yi Lian, revealing all secrets and truths, even the future. Only upon reaching this place can mortals return to their true selves, transcendence, entering the true realm of the Saint.
What mortals call the Saint Domain.
Of course, one doesn’t truly reach these worlds. But as Strength gradually increases, mortals begin to see these visions in the Spiritual World, just like Brand touching the Elemental Wall, a formless Wall of Principle that truly existed in his Spiritual World.
In the present, Mephisto has already set one foot in the final hurdle of transcendence. In fact, after his battle with Andesa, he grasped the ultimate meaning of Spiral Peak. The Extreme Holy Land has long opened its doors to him.
The ultimate meaning of the Grey Element.
He stood there, his renowned giant sword sheathed on his back. He merely smiled quietly at Kruz’s two High Order Priests, two Templars, and Great Priest Moros, yet it seemed like the world turned into a colorless grey-white that ensnared people; in the grey world, there was no black or white, no opposing poles, no concept of time flowing or still, no idea of material decay or existence, everything lingered between extremes.
Therefore, Mephisto knew neither attack nor defense. In his Law, life and death were void, existence held no meaning; he simply stood before Moros, and this lofty Great Priest felt his hair stand on end, as though Mephisto’s mere glance could turn him to ash.
Existence even more worthless than ash.
