Chapter 1422 - 370: Requiem XX_3
"Delphire, listen carefully. The true name of this fool is ’Toiss #403157’. You can find its mark in the Endless Purgatory! Quickly, curse it!"
The deceitful smile froze on Messika’s face. A secret known to all magicians versed in dealing with demons is:
Every demon born beneath the Abyss cannot be killed; they are a manifestation of Chaos. Killing them only sends them back to Chaos temporarily, leaving behind a mark, from which they will eventually rebirth.
This mark is the demon’s true name, the source of their power.
Every demon—whether lowly or powerful—has a unique name known only to itself and shared with no one. Yet historically, some demons have lost their names for various reasons, often meeting a grim fate of eternal enslavement.
To possess a demon’s true name is to command them to do anything. Though exaggerated, this evil wizard’s tale does hold a grain of truth.
At least, at this moment, the shock in the heart of the terrifying Hell Demon King, Messika, could be described as a tumultuous storm. A demon’s true name is their most intimate secret, one never whispered even in the shadows of dreams, yet here lies the problem.
What Brand said was indeed its true name.
How did he know?
If belief could be changed, Messika would certainly want to immediately pledge herself to Lord Marsha, and there, beneath the Mother’s feet, tearfully complain about Brand being an unfair cheater and request Lord Marsha to delete his account.
Unfortunately, Messika’s superior, the Dragon of Chaos and Dusk, clearly doesn’t handle such matters.
The King of Chaos awoke as if from a dream, turning angrily to stop Delphire. Unfortunately, it was a bit too late, or perhaps it was its own overconfidence from before; just as it turned around, Delphire had already used the spell and true name’s code to locate Messika’s mark within the Endless Purgatory.
Then she uttered that extremely simple spell: "Toiss #403157, withdrawal of authority!"
The colossal Hell Demon King and the frail Countess both let out a muffled groan at that moment. Brand felt the magical bondage on him loosen, and simultaneously, a trickle of blood emerged at the corner of Delphire’s mouth.
Backlash.
He knew Delphire’s strength was too weak; relying solely on the Demon Bracelet, not only could she not control Messika, but she would instead be counter-controlled. But even with the true name, Messika’s immense power was not something she could withstand on her own.
Alas.
He currently didn’t have spare time to find a Golden Rank Summoner skilled in spirit summoning techniques; even the Countess herself was merely a pleasant surprise.
Brand and Char plummeted from the air toward the ground. Meanwhile, Delphire, desperately trying to control the King of Chaos, tasted the reason why Brand called this a dangerous task, her once comely face now twisted in agony.
She couldn’t suppress Messika’s power.
Even with the true name and the Demon Bracelet, the mighty Hell Demon King cannot be casually commanded by an ordinary person. The surging Hell Power invaded her body through the Magic Ring, quickly corroding her organs and veins.
"Countess, you should know the consequences."
"I know."
Delphire lifted her head, her features streaming with blood, presenting a terrifying sight. Yet she still raised the Demon Bracelet high and shouted:
"I command you to sever the magical link with the Lower World!"
"No!"
The Hell Demon King cried out in shock immediately. Never expecting this little girl to be so cunning, compared to her, it felt like just a lower demon itself. Holding its true name, Delphire could command it to do anything and it couldn’t resist. In other words, she could order it to die, but the issue was she’d be ripped apart by the backlash before that happened. Yet Messika never imagined Delphire would ’know her limitations’ and choose such a simple order.
Sever the magical link with the Lower World.
It couldn’t resist, and the Dark Magic that filled it instantly vanished. In others’ eyes, Messika seemed to ’wither’ at a visible speed. In reality, its fat deflated like a balloon, turning into dry skin hanging on bones, a horrifying sight.
Messika’s power also rapidly declined, dropping from the peak of the Extreme Realm to the median level of Elemental Enlightenment in an instant. In just a few seconds, it plummeted over two levels, arguably setting a record for the fastest drop in rank in "Amber Sword".
"Ah! Bastards, you can’t do this!" Messika was so ashamed and angry, as if forcibly stripped naked like a little girl; it probably never dreamed of ending up like this.
In fact, if Brand could have ordered it to die directly, he would never have chosen such a roundabout way. Choosing this command was a result of careful consideration, as it was the best way to ensure Delphire’s safety.
Of course, the Countess might not be afraid of death herself. But the issue was, if she died, wouldn’t Messika regain its freedom?
Therefore, Brand chose this compromise from the beginning. Even this compromise would cause irreparable harm to Delphire’s body, yet there was no other way.
The Dark Binding on Brand and Char dissipated instantly. He immediately retrieved the Earth Sword from the ground, while simultaneously, the effect of Messika’s magic dispersing finally came to an end. In theory, this dispersing would continue until it turned completely into an ordinary person, but the withering of physical strength wasn’t something achievable in a short time.
The King of Chaos—more likely now just a Lord of Chaos, Messika had completely lost confidence at this moment. It immediately took a horn from its waist—a long horn clearly made from a Great Demon’s horn—and blew it desperately.
The long horn sound instantly pierced through the entire battlefield. Brand immediately understood that it was calling for reinforcements. He turned his head and indeed saw the Demon Army in the center of the battlefield, after a slight pause, begin to retreat in utter chaos.
"Quick, stop him!"
He quickly turned around and shouted.
With Antitina’s fate unknown, and no one able to locate the teleportation gate, if the demon army arrived, everything previously accomplished was doomed to be in vain.
At the same time, Char quickly reacted as well, hastily grabbing the staff that had fallen to the ground earlier.
Simultaneously, the princess’s entourage, surrounded at the center of the battlefield, felt entirely different. Trapped before with several near-death experiences, Reik and the Kruz Knights were all gravely injured, Gallock’s one arm was bloodied and limply hanging aside, the Princess bore a claw wound on her shoulder, crimson staining half her garment. Just as everyone prepared to fight to the death, suddenly the surrounding demons retreated, pressure momentarily lifted.
"What’s happening?" The miraculously surviving couldn’t help but pause. The demons, clearly holding an advantage, seemed to suddenly give them a chance to catch their breath?
Involuntarily, they looked up—but wasn’t the teleportation gate still there?
