Chapter 1423 - 371: Requiem XXI

Messika’s shriveled skin wrapped around its thick bones, with its ribs protruding and its eye sockets withered deep into its three heads. It looked like a massive skeleton. From time to time, a deep blue flame erupted from its body; this was the demon items disintegrating from loss of magic power. Even the protective equipment had completely crumbled, as if suddenly falling from the throne of a tyrant king to become a penniless beggar. The immense psychological gap simultaneously brought a great sense of insecurity. Although it still had an advantage over Brand and Char, Messika immediately used the remaining power to cast a flame shield on itself.

It seemed this was the only way to make it feel somewhat secure.

But Char reacted quickly, as Brand instructed him to act. He immediately grabbed the magic wand fallen on the ground and loudly recited the spell: "I command that the sharp transform into sharp blade, to divide all things, with the law of Tiamat, Demetra’s blade tooth!"

He thrust his hand forward in a chopping motion, causing the air in front to pile up layer by layer, forming a bright wind blade, then instantly slashing towards the Hell Demon King Messika not far away.

The flame shield hovering beside Messika was far more powerful compared to that little trinket from Brand’s Red Blessing. The orange-red light on the magic shield seemed like a layer of orange-red grease was flowing, thick enough to be considered solid. Char’s Dragon Blade Tooth slashed fiercely onto it, akin to stirring intensely in a pot of oil. The red grease on the hemispherical magic shield shook violently.

But it didn’t move an inch.

"Hahaha!" Messika initially stepped back in fear, then realized Char couldn’t penetrate its shield. Its three heads couldn’t help but laugh sharply in triumph. It seemed to have entirely forgotten that, as a Hell Demon King, even being attacked with such force by a Golden Domain wizard was a great insult.

"You can’t kill me, just wait to die!" It arrogantly shouted.

But it soon couldn’t laugh anymore, because right after the transparent blade swept through like an unseen force, a dark long sword manifested behind the spell. The slightly luminous sword blade parted the rain like a thin silver line. The orange-red flame shield had no effect on this long sword whatsoever, and the sword seemed transparent as it swiftly passed through space, directly cutting Messika’s chest.

A flash.

Brand leaped high through the rain, opening a wound on the monster’s chest that was two meters long. He coldly pulled the sword blade downwards in mid-air — the motion so familiar, as if he had completed this move a thousand times in Amber Sword — and in the rainy night, a splash of purple-red blood exploded.

Messika’s wild laughter abruptly stopped, replaced by a sharp scream — or rather a howl.

"Aoo—!"

The scream quickly turned into wailing, as the giant body of the Hell Demon King even toppled backward due to the impact. Brand landed steadily while the massive Demon King collapsed onto the ground.

But clearly, Messika wasn’t dead yet. Although the wound on its chest stretched almost from the shoulders down to above its abdomen, deep enough to expose bone, the skin and flesh on both sides sprawling open, revealing within a gemstone resembling a shimmering obsidian. This was the demon’s Dark Magic Stone, the source of its power. However, the gemstone now appeared dim as it had lost contact with the River of Sulfur.

It was still flailing in the rain, trying to climb up. The demon’s strong life force was undeniable at this moment, as the damaged muscle soft tissue and blood vessels were healing and growing at a speed visible to the naked eye, while some minor cuts quickly transformed into new red knotted scars.

But Brand clearly didn’t intend to give the Demon King a chance to fully recover. He immediately jumped onto the demon’s stomach, stomping its chest, simultaneously raising the Earth Sword high with its tip pointed down.

"No, don’t!" Messika finally panicked, fear flashing across its three heads: "You can’t kill me! I will accept that woman’s servitude. Whatever you want, I can offer you strength and authority, and everything you desire!"

Brand remained unmoved.

"Ahhhhh, I understand," it shrieked like a slaughtered pig: "I can help you resurrect that little girl!"
