Chapter 1380 - 355: Requiem V_3
If Brand were to evaluate her stance, it would likely be considered fully standard, nearly perfect, yet utterly meaningless. The Princess’s sword grip showed her extensive dedication to swordsmanship, just this meticulous starting position in a knight’s tournament would be enough to make an impression and score three points, but unfortunately, this is not a tournament.
It is a battlefield where life is taken.
No one talks about a knight’s rules when faced with monsters. Monsters won’t, and neither will swordsmen.
Princess Griffine had already exerted her utmost effort, she gritted her teeth and defended against the spider mother ’Anarons’ with her sword, but the enormous force still made her whimper and forced her to the ground. Then, the second limb came down from above, piercing towards the top of the Princess’s head—
"Watch out!" Brand felt chilled to the bones, fearing to see the sight of Princess Griffine killed right in front of him. But at that moment, a beam of white light flashed from the Princess, causing the spider mother’s enormous limb to veer aside, stabbing into the girl’s left shoulder instead.
The Half-Elf Girl bit her lip tightly but still let out a suppressed scream. She had never felt such intense pain from childhood to adulthood, tears involuntarily coursed down her cheeks.
There was defense equipment!
Brand’s emotions jumped between relief and anxiety, lucky he didn’t have a heart attack, otherwise, he might have been scared to death. Nonetheless, he couldn’t help but wipe away a cold sweat, he should have thought earlier that Princess Griffine, as a royal family member, would definitely have one or two life-saving magic equipment on her.
In an instant, it was the difference between life and death. Brand finally arrived, he yelled furiously and lifted the Earth Sword, aiming it at the connection between the spider mother’s massive body and small head. But the expected scene of decapitation was just a figment, only a bright spark flew as the indestructible sword blade of the Earth Sword merely scratched Anarons’ hard shell, leaving Brand a bit hopeless — is this thing really that hard?
Brand’s attack still drew the spider mother’s attention, it withdrew its limb from Princess Griffine’s left shoulder, turned, and swung with its right claw, solidly striking Brand’s chest. The attack was swift as lightning, and before Brand could react, he was knocked to the ground, dizziness overwhelming him.
He shook his head, trying to get up, but felt Anarons press its front leg down, firmly pinning his shoulders. The massive spider lowered its body, opened its limbs, revealing sharp poison fangs beneath eight blood-red eyes.
Damn, is this thing hungry?
Brand’s eyes widened with fear, his heart nearly jumping out of his chest. Considering being seen as the next meal by a colossal creature isn’t a pleasant experience for anyone. His mind was racing, contemplating escape, and at that moment, the Princess charged forward, clenching her shoulder, raising her sword, and collided with Anarons’ head.
The spider mother was initially aiming to bite Brand, but instead, it gnawed into the rock due to the collision. Princess Griffine’s shoulder wound was torn open again because of this, while Anarons bit a large gap into the cave’s granite floor — leaving behind a pool of highly corrosive poison liquid — the Princess groaned in pain, and the spider mother couldn’t help but emit an angry scream.
It immediately turned its head, spraying a jet of dark green poison arrow towards Princess Griffine. The Princess was holding the longsword to block the spider mother’s limb, unable to dodge, with her magic equipment failing to work, she could only accept fate, tightly shutting her eyes and turning away.
However, the poison arrow didn’t descend upon her as she imagined, Princess Griffine waited, curling her neck, and then slightly opened her eyes. She turned back, surprised, seeing a light blue shield floating beside her, with the poison arrow already dissipated into nothingness.
This was the Water Shield Technique, a spell even an Elemental Master Apprentice could perform, yet it was the greatest nemesis for Anarons’ poison arrow technique. It’s precious player experience, and it was Brand’s great asset.
After spraying poison twice consecutively, the spider mother also fell into fatigue. Seizing this chance for respite, Brand quickly shouted, "Barbara, think of a way to help quickly!"
Actually, he wanted to free himself, but unfortunately, the spider mother was on an entirely different level of existence than he was, even in a fatigued state, not something he could handle.
