Amber Sword

Chapter 1442 - 1: Awakening

A horse like snow carried the Messenger, racing through the reconstruction of Ampezel Port, stirring quite a commotion as it passed by the war memorial being constructed on the Holy White Square.

Flocks of white pigeons took flight above the square, and workers by the scaffolding couldn’t help but turn their heads in surprise. By the fountain, monks in robes paused to watch, while the Messenger’s sash, embroidered with New Moon emblems, glimmered faintly in the sunlight.

A Royal Family Messenger.

For the first time in half a month.

Something big had happened, leaving everyone troubled with doubts. But only those truly in the know understood what had occurred:

The person was awake.

The chaos of the port over the last half month finally came to an end.

...

"Really?" The Princess, involved in conversation with the lady official, turned her head in surprise. Her beautiful silver eyes showed unconcealable delight, "Wait, I want to see him."

"Princess, please tidy up your appearance first," the lady official quickly reminded.

"No need." Griff didn’t look back, already lifting her dress in a hurry as she walked out, "Temis, prepare the carriage for me."

In the midst of darkness, Brand felt as if he had experienced a long dream. Everything in the dream seemed both real and indistinct. He recalled the sawmill where he practiced swordsmanship as a child, but the sawmill was filled with familiar and unfamiliar faces, with Grandfather teaching him sword fighting in front of everyone’s eyes.

Then a scene of tall buildings appeared, with cars flowing swiftly and Senior Sister in a grey coat and wrapped in a thick scarf. She was reading something in a bookstore across the crosswalk. Brand shouted her name desperately, but she seemed not to hear.

He rushed across the road, but the scene shifted again.

Everything turned dark, becoming a tranquil lakeshore. A tower stood by the lake, reflecting a black moon in the water, starlight twinkling in the sky. This bizarre dream seemed to be indicating something.

Brand walked alone through the water toward the tower, seeing shadows of wolves moving through the forest, sending chills down his spine.

Suddenly, the entire world shook, as if the dream was being pulled away from his consciousness, and the scenery began to collapse. Bright light broke through the darkness, then his eyelids twitched, and his eyes could faintly perceive the light through the capillaries beneath his eyelids.

At that moment, his long-dormant senses seemed to come back to life. He first heard the chirping of birds, as if it were a pleasant morning. But he lay there, contemplating for a moment before recalling all that had happened, memories gathering like fragmented pieces into a complete line in his mind.

He suddenly opened his eyes.

The light behind the silk curtains pierced his eyes, causing him to squint again.

Then he saw Romantic sleeping soundly beside him, the merchant lady lying halfway over him, her small face pressed against his chest, mouth open, with drool forming a silver line on the blanket.

Seeing this scene, Brand finally calmed down. He was alive. But what place was this? What was the outcome of the battle? And the Princess?

He quickly realized he was lying on a soft, large bed, which seemed like a work of art, with gold-leafed columns supporting an unimaginably luxurious dome, and countless silks hanging from around. Such a scene immediately connected in his mind to the word ’palace.’

He looked up and immediately saw Antitina watching him nervously. The Staff Lady’s face was somewhat awkward, as from her perspective, the Lord’s fiancée’s posture was really quite unseemly, but she couldn’t persuade Romantic to leave Brand, as the merchant lady clung tightly to Brand like holding a treasure.

She could only sigh, "Lord... you finally awakened." There was more she didn’t say, but Brand could already see the relief and joy in her eyes.

Brand understood why Antitina sighed, and he could only helplessly accept the merchant lady’s actions. He slightly nodded to Antitina, then noticed Medisha behind her — the Silver Elf Princess was accompanied by two Elf Clan warriors dressed in silver chain armor, with long hair draped over their shoulders, looking handsome and tidy.

The Silver Elves really came, Brand thought to himself.
