Chapter 1443 - 1: Awakening_2
"Lord."
"Lord."
"Lord!" As Medisha spoke, everyone else followed suit. Medphis appeared on the verge of crying, and if it hadn’t been for Andreg’s fierce glare from the side, Char and Kagris would have given him a thumbs up. Finally, Brand noticed Qian on the sofa behind everyone else.
The somewhat shy girl merely glanced at him from afar and seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
"What was the result of the battle? What about the Princess?" Although everyone was here and the result seemed clear, Brand asked again just to be sure.
An elderly yet bright voice responded instead of Antitina: "Due to the noble behavior of a certain heroic young man, Ambeser—no, all of Erune has been preserved. Rest assured, young friend."
This unexpected voice made Brand turn around. He then noticed an elderly man with silver hair and eyebrows, wearing a white robe, with a kindly face sitting by the window. Was it none other than Master Turaman, lord of the Secret Silver Castle?
"Master Turaman, you came as well." Brand was truly surprised this time. The Silver Elf had come due to his request, but Turaman was an unexpected guest.
But he had already guessed the reason for Turaman’s visit.
Sure enough, Turaman smiled and replied: "It was at the invitation of an old friend. Regardless, demons have appeared here, and I should return. Regarding Wood’s matter, I must apologize to you; I forgot how stubborn he is."
Brand was silent, not blaming Wood, but thinking about how stubborn the nobles could be. If there was even a slight chance to turn things around, it wouldn’t have escalated to such a situation. Countless lives and blood paid the price for such indifference.
Turaman continued: "You know, the Great Priest himself deeply regrets, and he has actually resigned from all his duties as Great Priest and in the Holy Temple, willing to spend his remaining years atoning for this."
"Oh?"
Brand was slightly surprised; Wood had gone to such lengths to maximize the restoration of Flame Temple’s reputation. People of their status don’t swear lightly, and once they do, they don’t easily change.
Wood had cut off his own retreat, giving up the chance to ascend to the temple’s core, which was only a step away.
Although he felt the old man was being somewhat excessive, Brand regained some respect for the Great Priest. If someone has such principles and pursuits, at least they wouldn’t be a shameless person.
Everything before could only be attributed to different pursuits. Brand sighed and asked: "So, the Great Priest plans to stay in Erune?"
Turaman looked at him approvingly.

"My old friend originally wanted to live in seclusion in Erune, to be a local priest, and see if he could contribute to the rebuilding of Ambeser. But the temple arranged another position for him."
"Hmm?" Brand perked up upon hearing the word "temple."
"Lord, the Flame Temple appointed Wood as the liaison between the Princess and the Northern Nobles, and he accepted the position." Antitina replied.
"Liaison?"
Brand was slightly surprised. This was intriguing; he hadn’t heard of such a position in the temple. What was the Flame Temple up to now? Was it trying to have Wood redeem himself, or is there another agenda?
To be honest, reaching reconciliation with the temple through this incident is the best option. The Flame Temple is a giant entity, and despite inevitable future conflicts with the Cruz Empire, Brand hoped they wouldn’t occur now.
Yet now, it seemed the temple was still unwilling to give up.
He frowned: "So, the temple still wants to mediate the relationship between the South and North?" The stubbornness of the Cruz people surprised him; he thought they would have learned their lesson.
"Young friend, otherwise, what do you plan to do—expel all the Northern nobles, or kill them all?" Turaman looked at Brand with a wise gaze.
Turaman’s statement enlightened Brand, and he suddenly realized his thoughts had been too simplistic. Indeed, he couldn’t kill all the nobles or expel them; regardless of how poor their reputation was, he certainly didn’t want Erune to immediately fall apart because of this.
