Chapter 1568: Aftermath Shock

Boundary No. 5

Purple Mark Guard first calmed his stormy heart. He couldn’t believe it, but the reality was right in front of his eyes.

The elite race that was only heard of in rumors was lying dead before him.

This Thorn Reaper was a half-step Red Mark Creature. How could it be hidden from his eyes? The Thorn Reaper could easily kill him.

He then turned toward Zack Lockwood.

Seeing that the Purple Mark Guard had recovered, I smiled and said, "It took you so long to recover."

To that, the Purple Mark Guard didn’t know how to respond. The Thorn Reaper was slain by Zack Lockwood. There was no one here to help him; he was alone in Boundary No. 5. So, it was an irrefutable fact.

"I don’t have words to explain. You are stronger than me right now," the Purple Mark Guard said, looking into Zack Lockwood’s eyes.

"You overpraise me," I said to him.

"I’m not joking. I can’t believe it’s the same kid who got recruited from the Tier-5 region. Your teacher, Lowell McClain, and the Federation Head, Ben, will be shocked," the Purple Mark Guard said.

Hearing that, I was taken aback. I didn’t expect the Purple Mark Guard to remember them. Then I realized it must have been Dean Jerome.

The name reminded me of old memories. I wondered what they were doing right now. Then I thought of the Saw Scale Viper Academy and the Small Training Institute.

I didn’t know whether any of them had reached the Commander and General levels. It was already a high ceiling for them. But I had made some friends there as well.

If there was an opportunity in the future, I would go back.

The Purple Mark Guard smiled and said, "It appears I rekindled your old memories."

"Yes, you did," I replied.

Then both of our gazes turned toward the corpse of the Thorn Reaper.

"What do you think Dean Jerome will say?" the Purple Mark Guard asked.

Hearing that, I looked at him. I didn’t know whether Dean Jerome knew about the Thorn Reaper or not.

"I think he will be in shock as well," I replied.

"It’s not just shock. You are now at the same level as the faction leaders. The foreign creatures used three different elites to eliminate you, but they failed," the Purple Mark Guard said in a solemn tone.

Hearing that, I thought of something and asked, "How many elite races do the foreign creatures have?"

The Purple Mark Guard shook his head and said, "We aren’t sure. We only know of them from history as well. Even the Thorn Reaper, I only heard about it from history."

I didn’t doubt it.

"I cannot let this massive creature stay here. I’m going to take it with me. Your strength has surpassed mine. You might need to hold the fort at Boundary No. 5 a little longer," the Purple Mark Guard said in a solemn tone.

Then he looked toward the last standing building and said, "You protected the important building as well. If this building were gone, the barrier surrounding the boundary would have fallen as well."

"I knew it," I uttered.

Then I looked toward the Purple Mark Guard and said, "Don’t worry. I’ll try to protect the place as long as possible. But I hope the foreign creatures’ side won’t send a Red Mark Level Creature."

"Hmph!"

The Purple Mark Guard gave a cold snort before saying, "Sending a half-step Red Mark Creature has already violated the treaty. I’m sure Dean Jerome won’t be watching this silently."

"You have no idea. This violation of theirs carries huge consequences," he added mysteriously.

I didn’t know what he meant by that, but I listened to him.

Swoosh!

Then, under my gaze, the Purple Mark Guard stored the corpse of the dead Thorn Reaper into his storage ring.

"Even though I don’t have a Red Mark Ring like yours given by Dean Jerome, my ring can still store the corpse of a Half-Step Red Mark Creature," the Purple Mark Guard said jokingly.

I shook my head. I wondered since when the Purple Mark Guard had become so talkative. After storing the creature, the Purple Mark Guard started heading back to the barrier.

Under my gaze, he left the barrier and disappeared from the spot. The massive hole in the barrier returned to normal.

Sigh!

A sigh of relief escaped from my mouth. Then I turned toward the overturned land—especially the overturned tent and the destroyed practice room.

Seeing that, I was stunned. Now I regretted not reminding the Purple Mark Guard. At least he should have made some arrangements for me before leaving.

My gaze then fell on the lone standing building. I reached the building and began to observe it. Without any other shelter, I had no choice but to gather the tent pieces and rebuild it from scratch.

As time passed, I began to collect the tent pieces.

...

Star University

Dean Jerome was in his office, seated behind his desk, his expression filled with both shock and anger. The shock was caused by Zack Lockwood.

More than slaying the Horned Humanoid or the Dead Fang, slaying the Thorn Reaper was something else entirely.

When he first sensed the breaking of the barrier, he had genuinely expected more Dead Fangs to appear. But to his surprise, no Dead Fangs appeared.

Instead, a member of a historic elite race made an appearance and with the strength of a half-step Red Mark Warrior, no less.

It had violated the agreement. The first thing he did was inform the higher-ups. He knew that violation wouldn’t be treated gently by them.

If the enemy broke the rules, they were not going to sit idly by either. They would use it to their advantage, and Dean Jerome believed the higher-ups already had plans ready.

Next, he thought of Zack Lockwood. When the Thorn Reaper appeared, Dean Jerome was bound by the rules not to leave his post or intervene in the boundary battle.

He had almost done so anyway, but when he saw Zack Lockwood gaining the upper hand, he was shocked and genuinely relieved.

Still, he didn’t know whether anything more dangerous than the Thorn Reaper existed on the foreign creatures’ side.
