Chapter 1562: Change in elite race
Boundary No. 5
I spent time in the essence chamber. I’m focusing on recovering inheritance forces. I don’t know when the next fight will happen.
It’s best to be prepared for the battle. I have killed the Dead Fang. I won’t be surprised if there are more Dead Fangs appearing next time.
Meanwhile
The Purple Mark Guard once again appeared here. He had come to take the remaining volunteers.
Dean Jerome thinks that more and more people will leave after the Dead Fang attack.
He opened the barrier next. Everyone in the tent felt the opening of the barrier. They exited their tents one by one.
They saw the Purple Mark Guard outside. They were surprised. Elder Stella appeared outside as well.
Apart from the few who were training and practicing inside the essence chamber, everyone was outside their tents.
Elder Stella walked up to the formation. A few veterans followed her to the formation.
The Purple Mark Guard swept his gaze across everyone. But he didn’t see Zack Lockwood. Then he assumed Zack Lockwood must be training.
Otherwise, he would have appeared. He decided to inform the others.
"No one expected the appearance of a Dead Fang here. So Dean Jerome sent me here to escort the volunteers to other Boundaries or Warrior camps."
"Those who are interested can step forward," he added.
Gasp!
A low exclamation sounded across the place. The announcement made by him came as a surprise.
Many warriors felt relieved. They were not Zack Lockwood. If a Dead Fang targeted them, they wouldn’t have a choice.
Next, many warriors stepped forward and walked toward the formation. Their numbers were high.
Stella saw a large number of the warriors exiting the barrier. Her face showed concern. It didn’t take long for only ten warriors to remain.
More than 30 warriors exited the barrier. They stood behind the Purple Mark Warrior.
The Purple Mark Guard was taken aback. He didn’t expect this many veterans to leave the place.
He didn’t say anything. But he saw those ten or so warriors who remained behind. He recognized Stella and a few other faces.
A hint of respect appeared in his eyes.
He said, "If anyone wants to leave, you can."
He was looking toward Stella and the others, but they shook their heads. He then nodded to them before closing the barrier.
Only ten warriors remained, including Stella. If Zack Lockwood was included, the number would be eleven.
The formation closed. Stella and the others looked at each other. Their eyes were filled with apprehension. Though they hadn’t left, they still knew the danger of living in this boundary.
If a Dead Fang appeared next time, they wouldn’t have anyone to rely on except Zack Lockwood.
Stella looked toward the tent of Zack Lockwood. She thought Zack Lockwood might be practicing alone. She wanted to see his reaction later.
Next, everyone returned to their tents.
Inside the essence chamber, I practiced until the purple lightning force filled my dantian. Then I switched to another practice.
Time passed.
Late at night, I exited the chamber. My dantian is filled with inheritance forces right now. It took me a couple of hours to refill them.
I was worried that a battle alarm would go off midway, but nothing like that happened. I was genuinely shocked.
If it were a warrior camp, the foreign creatures would have sent their army right away. But here, the situation was different.
I was left confused. I didn’t know whether the foreign creatures knew that I had killed the Dead Fang.
If they knew, they wouldn’t take this much time. So I think something must have happened. Next, I went to take a shower.
The bath lasted for 20 minutes. Next, I walked out of the bathroom and changed into new clothes.
I left the tent and began to take a walk around the place. Suddenly, I found the place was rather quiet.
I spread my mental power. It quickly covered the surrounding area. I saw no one outside the tents apart from me.
It was surprising. Because there would always be one or two groups waiting outside. I don’t know what happened this time.
"Were the warriors seriously practicing?" I asked myself. Then I continued to walk on the footpath.
...
Foreign Creature Side
Inside the towering rocky pillar, the higher-ups have decided to allow 2 Dead Fangs. Their spies have collected a report stating there is no news of Zack Lockwood appearing outside.
They think it’s highly possible that Zack Lockwood is staying in Boundary No. 5.
The Leader of the Dead Fangs wanted strict action. The creature wanted news of Zack Lockwood’s death.
But it rejected the idea of sending Dead Fangs to the same enemy again. The Leader of the Dead Fangs was clever. I don’t want to repeat the mistake.
It thinks the higher-ups have misjudged the target’s strength. If the target can slay a Dead Fang, then he can slay another Dead Fang as well.
Sending 2 Dead Fangs means the higher-ups are not sure of the target’s strength. If one Dead Fang fails, they hope the second Dead Fang will kill the target.
The Leader of the Dead Fangs saw through the ploy. It wanted the higher-ups to send another elite race instead. Then it would become clear whether the target is hiding his strength or not.
When the higher-ups learned of the decision, they were shocked. They had hoped two Dead Fangs would put the matter to an end once and for all.
Yet the decision made by the Leader of the Dead Fangs shocked them. The higher-ups didn’t have a choice. They cannot force the Dead Fangs.
They have a strategic use. So, they turned toward other elite races. The horned humanoids denied the request right away. They were weaker than the Dead Fangs.
Knowing that a Dead Fang was killed, they lost the desire to kill Zack Lockwood, unless they sent a Red Mark Level Creature to the front. But that was against the rules.
Because of their denial of the request, the higher-ups of the foreign creatures convened another meeting.
