Chapter 1109: Recruiting Mara (5)

"Go!" Clovis shouted and pushed forward. They could defeat Mara. That was what they believed.

Clovis struck Mara from above, but Mara struck back.

"Gah!" Clovis spat a mouthful of blood as his right hand became numb. It felt like he was close to dropping his sword, but he simply gritted his teeth and endured.

He made sure he endured this attack so that Mara couldn’t get away.

When she saw Clovis not breaking apart, a small smile couldn’t help but appear on her face. Clovis might not see it because he was too focused on her attacks, but there was a sense of relief in that smile.

She had always been wondering about the person whose voice kept echoing in her mind. After she awakened the system, she couldn’t help but want to find out that person’s identity.

Although Clovis was younger than her, it was clear he was the person that had been haunting her.

For what reason did she fall in love with him in reality? Even she couldn’t figure it out.

However, while the time they were together was brief, Mara realized she might have been moved by his tenacity.

His existence was gradually etched into her heart. And ultimately, Clovis managed to give him a new purpose. That was why she ended up becoming his woman.

She realized that this kind of person would charm other people. If she ended up following what happened in reality, there was a high chance that the women by Clovis’ side were also his women in reality.

In other words, Clovis ended up making them fall in love with him again.

Mara didn’t understand love or anything. She had been wandering all this time, pursuing food, not love.

Now that the Libation Fiesta was going to defeat her, this might be the perfect time to figure out something else in her life.

She wanted to escape this world. She wanted to learn the truth about her existence as well as her feelings.

Maybe there would be something different in her life that she didn’t expect, but it was clear that she would walk that path with the group before her.

That was why she felt relieved. Although some suffered heavy injuries, none of them were disabled or dead.

Mara switched her stance, trying to stop Christina and Ragna coming from her right.

Bang!

Her glaive was stopped once again, but she realized that Christina and Ragna wobbled slightly as though they were having a hard time blocking that attack.

When she shifted her gaze, she realized Reolf wasn’t with them.

Mara immediately focused everything on her senses, tracking everyone’s movements.

Reolf had already appeared behind her. Despite his big body, Reolf was actually the fastest in the group. He looped around and bit Mara’s arm.

Mara didn’t mind the pain, but she was having a hard time pulling back her arm as Reolf resisted as much as possible.

In addition, Freud actually grabbed her glaive, while Jay came from behind and locked her neck.

Kanaria, Rin, and Angelia were aiming at her, ready to shoot at any moment’s notice.

Clovis stood up and extended his blade, pointing it right before Mara’s eyes. "This is... over."

Mara looked at Clovis. The others were also doing their best. In a way, she could sacrifice an arm to break away from this situation, but it didn’t seem to be worth it.

After all, Clovis would still have a high chance of defeating her. Besides, losing an arm to join the group would just create more problems.

So, Mara closed her eyes and let go of her glaive. "You won."

"!!!" Everyone who heard it couldn’t help but widen their eyes. Did they hear it right?

"We won?!"

They looked at each other before cheering.

"We won!"

Clovis panted heavily. A smile appeared on his face, but he also dropped his weapons and fell to his knees. He was completely exhausted.

It was already hard enough to hold his weapons, let alone use them. Most of the time, he focused on his grip and just swung everything by moving his upper arms. There wasn’t much strength left in his lower arms.

Now that the battle was over, exhaustion caught up with him.

"You let us win." Clovis knew no one could beat Mara one-on-one. "If we hadn’t locked you from using your biggest advantage, we wouldn’t have won."

Mara’s biggest advantage was actually her ranged attack. All this time, Mara couldn’t use that ranged attack properly as Clovis and his team maintained a close distance.

Normally, Mara would be able to distance herself and unleash that powerful attack.

Mara, on the other hand, shook her head. "That’s what you call taking advantage of the enemy’s information. Know your enemy, and you can defeat them. There is nothing wrong with that."

Clovis knew Mara only fought with just 70% of her power due to that restraint. And they still barely won.

There was still a big gap between the Libation Fiesta and the strongest people in the world. And with the big battle approaching, Clovis knew that he had to speed up his progress.

"Well, I guess this is the end." Clovis smiled. "Welcome to the Libation Fiesta, Mara. You are now the last member of my Libation Fiesta."

"Yes. I’m looking forward to working with you. I hope that this battle doesn’t create a grudge between us."

"We all know what we’re getting into, so it’s fine."

"It’s fine, but you’re not fine." Luci suddenly came to them. "I’m done treating Rea, Erwin, and Aileen. And now it’s your time, Clovis. You’ve lost too much blood. I’m going to prepare for a blood transfusion. Give me a second, I’m going to bring the blood bag. Also, Miss Mara, what is your blood type? You also need a blood transfusion."

"I have AB+," Mara answered. "However, you don’t have to be polite to me. I wasn’t raised with manners in mind. Besides, there’s another reason..."

"Another reason?"

"Yeah. This."

"!!!" Everyone, including Clovis, widened their eyes in shock.

After all, Mara abruptly grabbed Clovis’ chin and kissed him on the lips.

"What the f—!"
