Chapter 86: Transaction Complete
Everything before was just to test the waters, letting people know she had these items and setting the prices in the process.
Moira Lynch looked at the long string of private messages. Her first choice was still Redlight.
For one, they were from the same country. For another, she had been very satisfied with their last transaction.
As for other countries, she couldn’t be blamed for assuming the worst. ’Those not of our kind are bound to have different intentions.’ She had no desire for someone in the game to attack her with a Mecha she herself had sold.
So, it was better to sell her goods to her own people.
[Redlight: How many of each item you listed today do you have left? We’ll take them all.]
What a bold claim!
[SoySauceDrunkard: You want that many? Aren’t you afraid of biting off more than you can chew?]
[Redlight: You don’t have to worry about that. I’ve had a big appetite since I was a kid. The price is negotiable.]
[SoySauceDrunkard: ...]
[Redlight: Didn’t you want gold, silver, jade, and gemstones? We have them all.]
That was true, but Moira Lynch felt there was something strange about his words. ’Why does it sound like I’ve become some kind of gold digger?’
’I need these things for a legitimate purpose.’
[SoySauceDrunkard: Let’s trade for something else this time. Besides gold, silver, and jade, I also need rare metals and ores. The rarer, the better.]
There was no immediate reply. Moira Lynch guessed he was probably reporting to his superiors.
About a minute later.
[Redlight: No problem. However, we’d like a thousand sets of Exoskeleton Mecha, as well as Flying Devices, Anti-gravity Shoes, Gliding Cloaks, and temperature-regulating clothes. Oh, right, and we’ll take plenty of those Chimefin scales, vegetable essence tablets, and Energy Bars, too.]
[SoySauceDrunkard: Are you stocking up for a warehouse or something?]
[Redlight: Hehe.]
An embarrassed-looking emoji followed, but he didn’t back down on his request.
[SoySauceDrunkard: Alright. Same trading method as last time?]
’It doesn’t matter who I sell them to, as long as they get sold.’
On the other side, seeing SoySauceDrunkard agree so readily, Redlight knew he had asked for too little.
The man beside him, named Chase Shepard, was Redlight’s superior. He was also a player, with the in-game name WorldDefiant.
And Redlight’s real name was Timothy Murphy.
Seeing his expression, Chase Shepard’s heart skipped a beat. "What’s with that look? Did SoySauceDrunkard refuse? We can ask for less. Our orders from above were for five hundred sets, with a minimum of three hundred."
As he spoke, Chase Shepard leaned over to see what Timothy Murphy had written and how SoySauceDrunkard had replied.
He wouldn’t have known if he hadn’t looked, but one glance gave him the shock of his life.
He saw that Timothy Murphy had started by asking for a thousand sets—a thousand of *each* item, no less. And that wasn’t all. On top of asking for so much, he had even tacked on other things.
Although they had prepared enough resources, they figured that this kind of Mecha couldn’t be common, even in an interstellar society. Afraid the seller wouldn’t have that many, they had decided to ask for five hundred sets. In truth, they would have been secretly overjoyed with just three hundred.
But not only had Timothy Murphy asked for more than double that, he... what was he seeing? SoySauceDrunkard had actually agreed. He agreed!
He’d been taunted a little, but that single word—"Alright"—was crystal clear. There was no denying it.
At that moment, the same thought that had occurred to Timothy Murphy popped into Chase Shepard’s head. ’We asked for too little.’
"Why didn’t you just ask for two thousand sets?" Chase Shepard said, his voice laced with disappointment.
"Should I ask for more, then?"
"Let’s leave it at that for now. I’ll contact our people to deliver the supplies. You sound them out. Ask about the other countries, see if they have any intention of selling to them."
Timothy Murphy shook his head. "I doubt it. If they really planned to trade with other countries, they could have just listed the items in the shop and let everyone scramble for them."
Meanwhile, Moira Lynch entered her personal space to get the items ready for the trade.
She had to admit, the number Redlight quoted was perfectly at her limit. She wouldn’t have agreed to even one more.
She definitely had more than a thousand of each item, but Moira Lynch needed to keep some in reserve for emergencies—not many, just an extra one or two hundred sets.
Once she got better versions, she could sell off these older ones.
The trade took place inside her spatial warehouse. As usual, Moira Lynch activated the Invisibility function of her Illusion Cloak.
As her items were traded away one by one, the warehouse gradually filled with all sorts of resources.
Looking at the incoming resources, Moira Lynch used her spiritual power to move them into their designated storage areas.
She had even built a dedicated storeroom just for the rare ores and metals.
When the trade was complete, Chase Shepard stared at the rows of metal containers, his heart ablaze with excitement.
With these Exoskeleton Mechas, they could form an entire Mecha detachment.
The performance of these Exoskeleton Mechas had already been tested, and the results could only be described as divine. They could fly, travel underground, and even allow a human to move freely in outer space.
The Chimefin scales weren’t as effective as Water-cooling Stones, but they were far more convenient and could be carried personally.
As for the vegetable essence tablets and Energy Bars, the research results on those had come in as well.
They contained all the nutrients a human body required, including some special beneficial compounds, to the point that they could almost be used as medical supplies.
While the taste was a little off, it was miles better than nutrient liquid.
With a little processing and dilution, a single one could be stretched to serve hundreds, if not thousands. This could save a tremendous number of people.
That day, the internet was abuzz with news about Moira Lynch’s shop.
Major content creators were even speculating and analyzing what the Exoskeleton Mechas looked like and what their functions were.
Many others analyzed why SoySauceDrunkard was selling these things and what their ultimate goal might be.
Some claimed SoySauceDrunkard was a savior, while others spun conspiracy theories.
In short, the theories were all over the map.
In reality, Moira Lynch wasn’t thinking about any of that. She was simply selling some items to prepare for when her talent reached level three.
After completing the trade, Moira Lynch didn’t leave her space right away. Instead, she took out a freshly ripened Wind Speed Fruit and started to eat it.
The item description had mentioned that one should be in a wide, open area when consuming a Wind Speed Fruit for the first time. What place could be more suitable than her personal space?
A ripened Wind Speed Fruit looked like a perfectly ripe plum—a luscious, tempting red.
After she swallowed the Wind Speed Fruit, nothing happened. She decided to take a few steps to test it. ’Since it’s a speed-enhancing fruit, maybe I should try running?’
However, the moment she took that first step, Moira Lynch’s vision blurred. In the next instant, she found herself in a completely different spot.
