Chapter 73: Crino Prairie 17
Although all it took was providing food and drink to get two bodyguards, Moira Lynch still felt like she was getting the short end of the stick.
But unfortunately, the two were incredibly thick-skinned. Whether Moira Lynch gave them the cold shoulder or just ignored them, they pretended not to notice, dead set on following her.
After all, as the only person who could communicate with the local Beastkin, the advantages of staying by her side were obvious.
Shane Rhodes’s ability was lightning, while Kai York’s was hurricane.
As they walked, a large group of animals suddenly appeared ahead.
This was the first time Moira Lynch had seen any animals. Her attention had been so focused on the Beastkin that she had completely forgotten that besides them, this place was also home to a large number of wild beasts.
She carefully examined the beasts in front of them. They resembled horses but had a pair of enormous antlers growing from their heads.
Moira Lynch blinked and communicated with Patience using her spiritual power, ’What kind of beast is this?’
[Stag-Horse, one of the most common beasts on the Crino Prairie. Herbivorous, docile temperament, likes to appear in herds.]
She glanced at the two "guardians" behind her. ’With these two around, I definitely can’t take out the electric scooter, but traveling on foot is so slow.’
Thinking this, Moira Lynch tried to use her spiritual power to communicate with the herd of Stag-Horses.
Seeing her staring at the herd of beasts, Kai York thought she was hungry and wanted to eat meat. He was just about to say something but was stopped by Shane Rhodes.
"Kai, don’t make a sound."
Hearing this, Kai York obediently shut his mouth and stood quietly, waiting.
About five minutes later, a sudden commotion rippled through the herd of Stag-Horses, which had been grazing peacefully.
Immediately after, three sturdy Stag-Horses, each with a pair of huge antlers, trotted toward them.
When Shane Rhodes and Kai York saw this, they immediately went on alert. Although Stag-Horses were herbivores, that didn’t mean they couldn’t attack.
On the contrary, if you were rammed or kicked by one, you probably wouldn’t even have a chance to be saved.
The three Stag-Horses stopped just before reaching them, then slowly lay down on the ground, looking at the three humans with calm eyes.
Amid the two men’s shock, they heard Moira Lynch’s impatient voice, "What are you standing around for? Come help."
The two snapped back to their senses and saw Moira Lynch already running toward one of the Stag-Horses, so they quickly followed.
"What’s wrong with them?" Kai York asked curiously.
As she scrambled onto a Stag-Horse, Moira Lynch explained, "These are Stag-Horses. Around this time, their antlers are supposed to fall off so new ones can grow in. But sometimes, the antlers are attached too firmly and won’t come off. I made a deal with these three. We help them get their antlers off, and in return, they’ll carry us for the next few days."
"There are deals this good?" The two of them brightened up.
By now, Moira Lynch had climbed onto one of the Stag-Horse’s antlers. She used her hands and feet to try and break it off, but she was too light. She dangled there, swinging like a monkey for a good while, but the antler remained stubbornly in place, solid as a rock.
"Kai, let’s help."
Shane Rhodes directed Kai York to hang on as well, then jumped on himself.
Then, the three of them pulled with all their might and finally managed to wrench the first antler off.
[Stag-Horse Antler. Completely ossified, rich in minerals and calcium.]
[Method of consumption: Grind into a powder and mix with water to drink.]
Moira Lynch calmly glanced at the antler on the ground, then looked up into the distance.
Not far away, she saw shed Stag-Horse antlers scattered everywhere, discarded like trash.
Seeing this, Moira Lynch extended her spiritual power and collected all the antlers.
After a flurry of activity, they finally removed the antlers from all three Stag-Horses.
In front of the two men, Moira Lynch put the three pairs of antlers into her Space Button.
’I’m not carrying any backpack. I could say the Nutrition Supplements from before were in my pocket, but what about now?’
’Actions always leave traces. Instead of letting Shane Rhodes and Kai York guess wildly, it’s better to reveal a little from the start.’
’It’s just a Space Button, anyway. Once this game is over, I’ll be officially selling Space Buttons in my shop.’
’When something becomes common, it’s no longer special.’
"A space...!! Moira, this isn’t your golden finger, is it?" Kai York’s jaw dropped, a look of pure shock on his face.
Moira Lynch rolled her eyes. He had guessed correctly, but she wasn’t about to admit it. "What are you talking about? This is a Space Button. I helped an NPC in the game earlier, and they gave it to me as a reward."
Not wanting to continue the topic, Moira Lynch was the first to climb onto a Stag-Horse’s back. "Hurry up and get on," she urged. "We still have a mission to complete."
Sitting on the Stag-Horse’s back, Moira Lynch felt the wind continuously whistling past her ears. Luckily, her glasses were windproof, so she wasn’t forced to shut her eyes.
She gripped the fur on the Stag-Horse’s back tightly with both hands. She felt like a rootless duckweed, swaying with the wind on a turbulent water surface.
After what felt like an eternity, the three Stag-Horses finally came to a stop.
The three of them grimaced as they dismounted from the Stag-Horses, feeling like their butts were no longer their own.
She checked the time. It had only been ten minutes from when they got on the Stag-Horses to when they got off, but it felt like several hours. At least they had arrived at their destination.
Seeing the familiar gray gate, she knew this was the place.
Shane Rhodes and Kai York, however, looked confused. The gates they had encountered before were all red; this was the first time they had seen a gray one.
After pushing the gate open, a three-meter-tall Beastkin, built like a small mountain, walked over.
"I’m here to look for work," Moira Lynch said quickly and loudly.
The Beastkin was so enormous that she was afraid if she didn’t speak up, he might accidentally step on her.
"Oh, I know you. The exceptionally skilled Recycler. I’ve been waiting here for you for a long time."
Then he glanced at Shane Rhodes and Kai York, who were following behind her. "Are they your new assistants? They look so weak. With your ability, you could totally recruit some powerful assistants to help you complete your tasks."
Hearing his words, Moira Lynch was taken aback for a moment, then explained, "They’re from my hometown and are also looking for work. I’m very poor; I can barely support myself, let alone afford to hire assistants."
At this, the Beastkin gave her a pitying look. "You poor little thing. For your sake, I’ll arrange some easier jobs for them."
Moira Lynch flashed a brilliant smile and said, "Thank you."
The Beastkin waved his hand. "It’s what I should do. After all, you’ve helped us out a great deal."
Watching as Shane Rhodes and Kai York were led away, Moira Lynch waved with a smile, then followed the tall Beastkin in the other direction.
