Chapter 72: Crino Prairie 16
This stuff was a game-changer for outfits.
Moira Lynch gazed at the pile of sprays. There were so many—enough to last her a very long time.
There were even ready-made clothes!!
Moira Lynch picked up a piece and held it against herself. It was way too big. Looking at the color, she guessed it was men’s clothing.
She checked the tag: waterproof, fireproof, resistant to low and high temperatures, extremely elastic, and capable of expanding up to fifty times its original size.
This reminded Moira Lynch of those people who had awakened body-strengthening abilities. They would burst out of their clothes every time they fought.
She once saw a news report about a player who had awakened a body-strengthening ability. The moment they activated it, all their clothes instantly shredded, leaving them to fight the enemy stark naked.
Even though it was censored on TV, the scene was still quite an eyesore.
These clothes would definitely be a hit back home. After all, extreme elasticity was just one of their perks; they were also waterproof, fireproof, and resistant to both low and high temperatures. They were practically essential survival gear for extreme weather.
A few hours later, Moira Lynch emerged from the now-empty warehouse, feeling like she hadn’t had her fill.
The small person waiting outside the door watched her emerge, an expression of pure amazement on their face. "I can’t believe how capable you are! I thought Ms. Panther was exaggerating just to get me to hire you." ’Turns out she was underselling it.’
After inspecting the warehouse, the small person came out and gave Moira Lynch a satisfied nod. Then, they opened an exquisite little pouch at their waist and pulled out a pile of items many, many times larger than their own body.
"You probably wouldn’t like the nutrient liquid we eat, so these are our newest products. Please, take them as your payment."
The smiley face badge on her chest lit up once more. Just like that, she had collected seven smiles. With three left to go and over four days remaining, she had plenty of time.
After stowing the items away, she began to ask for information. "Are there any other Beastkin or Beastkin-run shops around here?"
The small person tilted their head. "Are you looking for more work?"
Moira Lynch nodded. "I’ve got a lot of mouths to feed back home."
The small person gave her a pitying look. "You poor thing. Just head east when you leave here. That’s all the help I can offer, I’m afraid. I don’t know any specifics because I don’t go out often."
Moira Lynch gave a modest smile. "That’s more than enough. Thank you for your help."
As she left, she passed by those shelves again. In just that short amount of time, her ears were already starting to ring.
’If I really stayed here for long,’ she thought, ’I’d probably have a breakdown.’
The other players watched Moira Lynch’s retreating figure after she completed the task, their eyes filled with envy.
Seeing that it was still early after she left, Moira Lynch thought she might have a shot at a "double kill" today.
Ever since that rain, she had discovered that the Crino Prairie, much like Mocha Forest, was teeming with treasures. She wanted to save some extra time for herself.
To achieve that, Moira Lynch had to complete her tasks as quickly as possible.
She glanced down at the smiley face badge on her chest and murmured, "Three more to go."
She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but she felt that the smile on the badge had grown even more brilliant compared to the first day she saw it.
Following the Cloud-Mulberry Silk Beastman’s directions, Moira Lynch headed east. Along the way, it began to rain again.
Fortunately, it was just a light drizzle this time, with no thunder, so it didn’t slow her down.
As she walked on, her spiritual power suddenly detected people up ahead, so Moira put away her electric scooter and proceeded on foot.
She hadn’t planned on paying them any mind, but it turned out they were people she knew.
Shane Rhodes and Kai York.
Moira Lynch looked at the two unlucky guys—her neighbors.
The two of them were standing in the rain, mouths agape, staring up at the sky.
"Boss, we look so stupid doing this."
"Shut up!"
Shane Rhodes shot Kai York a glare. ’Of course I know this is stupid,’ he thought. But aside from this, they couldn’t find any other source of water.
Just as the two of them were standing in the rain with their mouths open trying to catch water to drink, they suddenly heard a familiar voice. "What are you two doing?"
Kai York whipped his head around, his eyes lighting up with excitement as if he were seeing a long-lost relative. But when he saw Moira Lynch’s empty hands, the light in his eyes instantly died.
"The boss and I are trying to catch some water to drink. Want some?"
Moira Lynch shook her head, declining. ’In a drizzle like this, you couldn’t even collect a mouthful after standing here for an hour.’
"Don’t you have any nutrient liquid?" Moira Lynch asked curiously.
’These two aren’t weak, especially Shane Rhodes. How did they end up in such a miserable state?’
"Nutrient liquid? The supply we got from the Leonin ran out long ago. For the past few days, the boss and I have been surviving on tree roots."
The more Kai York spoke, the more aggrieved he sounded, to the point where he looked like he wanted to break into a tragic song for Moira Lynch to convey just how miserable he was.
"So you finished the nutrient liquid from the Leonin... didn’t the other Beastkin give you any?"
’Or had these two gotten absolutely nothing these past few days?’
’That can’t be right.’
She glanced at the badges on their chests—six of them. That was only one fewer than she had.
"The others? The other Beastkin give out nutrient liquid?"
Kai York cried out in shock, and even Shane Rhodes lost his composure.
Seeing their reactions, Moira Lynch knew they had been working for free all this time.
"Don’t tell me you didn’t ask for anything from any of the other Beastkin besides the Leonin."
Shane Rhodes and Kai York fell silent.
’In their rush to finish the tasks, they had left to find the next target immediately after getting a smiley face. So... what was the point of eating roots for all those days?’
’No wonder those Beastkin tried to stop them every time they were about to leave. And here they thought they were being prevented from going.’
Seeing this, Moira Lynch stepped forward and handed them two bottles of Nutrition Supplement.
Neither Shane Rhodes nor Kai York stood on ceremony. This was no time to be proud. After several straight days of eating grass, their stomachs had long since begun to protest.
As the two of them drank the Nutrition Supplement, Moira Lynch looked around and found two freshly sprouted Water Storage Mushrooms in a patch of grass.
After demonstrating how to use them, she was met with two pairs of eyes filled with shock and regret.
Once they had eaten and drunk their fill, Kai York sidled up to Moira Lynch with a grin. "Moira, how did you know these mushrooms had water in them?"
Moira Lynch looked at Kai York as he leaned in and said with feigned arrogance, "A pretty girl has her secrets. I’m off."
"Hey, hey, wait up! Let’s go together! The two of us will protect you. All you have to do is keep us fed and hydrated."
Kai York dragged Shane Rhodes along to catch up with Moira Lynch, looking for all the world like he planned on sticking to her no matter what.
