Chapter 144: Land of the Yeti 20
After confirming the Yetis were dead, Moira Lynch couldn’t be bothered to waste energy digging them out of the snow. She simply stored them directly in her space.
There were three Yetis this time. Unlike the previous three, which had been horrifically mauled, these three had no visible wounds, yet they were dead.
Moira Lynch’s spiritual power detected that not a single bone in their bodies was intact, including their spines and skulls.
Beyond that, her first impression of these three Yetis was that they were filthy.
Their originally white fur had turned gray and was caked with unidentifiable black clumps, and they reeked of a foul odor.
The only clean parts on them were probably the horns on their heads, which were larger and looked sharper.
The previous three Yetis must have belonged to a clan, while these three slovenly ones were likely wanderers.
After removing the horns and the cloth pouches from their heads, Moira Lynch moved the three Yetis out of her space.
Their smell was absolutely overwhelming. Outside, the cold had masked it, but the higher temperature inside her space caused the black clumps on their bodies to melt, releasing an odor dozens of times more nauseating than before.
After searching the surrounding area, Moira Lynch finally left.
A short while later, a message came from the Heavenly Eye: a group of players seemed to be preparing to hunt Yetis.
Hunting Yetis!!??
Yetis???
And wandering Yetis, by the looks of it!!
’Seriously, are these people trying to get themselves killed?’
’Do they have any idea how dangerous Yetis are right now?’
’Besides, Yetis have an extremely keen sense of smell. They’ll be discovered long before they can get close.’
’Oh, right. They don’t know any of that.’
’They’re probably trying to hunt Yetis because they’ve been blinded by the mission rewards the system mentioned.’
Originally, Moira Lynch had no intention of getting involved. After all, even if she stopped them, they wouldn’t necessarily be grateful.
But when she saw that Kai York was among them, and the leader was Redlight, Moira Lynch took a deep breath.
Given her relationship with Kai York, she simply couldn’t stand by and do nothing.
As for Redlight, he had at least proven to be a competent trading partner so far.
So, Moira Lynch controlled the Heavenly Eye and sent it flying toward Kai York’s location.
"What is that thing?"
Someone spotted a golden object rapidly approaching them and shouted a warning.
In an instant, everyone became vigilant, their eyes locked on the approaching Heavenly Eye.
Moira Lynch paid them no mind. When someone tried to attack it, she easily dodged.
She then had the Heavenly Eye land on the ground and quickly begin writing something.
Redlight saw its intention and said to his companions who were preparing to attack, "Hold on, don’t do anything rash. Let’s see what it wants."
Hearing him, Moira Lynch gave Redlight a mental nod of approval. ’You’re a sharp one.’
Moira Lynch had the Heavenly Eye write a single word in the snow—"Leave"—and then flew off in the direction opposite the Yetis.
"Captain, we..."
One of the team members looked at Redlight. They were here specifically to hunt Yetis. If they left now, wouldn’t all their preparations have been for nothing?
"Besides, what if this is a trap set by another country?"
Kai York didn’t overthink it. Looking at the word in the snow, he felt a strange sense of familiarity, so he got up and unhesitatingly ran in the direction the Heavenly Eye had gone, even activating his talent.
In a Blink, he was out of sight.
Seeing this, Redlight glanced at the approaching Yetis in the distance, then back at the direction the Heavenly Eye and Kai York had gone. Clenching his jaw, he ordered, "Fall back."
’If this is just a trap, we can always set up another one later. But if it’s not a trap, it means we’ve probably been exposed, and that thing came specifically to warn us.’
A name surfaced in Redlight’s mind: SoySauceDrunkard.
The previous system announcement had stated that SoySauceDrunkard was currently in the same game as them.
And just like that, Redlight led his teammates quietly out of the area.
They weren’t the only group participating in the ambush; there were several other factions from different countries.
Seeing Redlight and his group leave, these other people mentally scoffed at them for retreating at the last minute.
When Zephyr Murphy heard they had left, a thoughtful look flashed in his eyes.
"Good that they left. One less competitor," one of his subordinates said.
Others might think Redlight chose to leave now out of cowardice, but Zephyr Murphy didn’t see it that way.
After several encounters, he knew exactly what kind of person Redlight was. A coward? Impossible.
’For them to leave now, something must have happened on their end.’
’Could it be that they found out in advance that this mission is too dangerous and won’t succeed?’
All sorts of guesses flashed through Zephyr Murphy’s mind, but he himself had no intention of leaving.
Even before the game descended, he had an adventurous nature. The more dangerous something was, the more it sparked his interest.
Besides, Zephyr Murphy firmly believed that danger and opportunity often came hand in hand, just like this time.
The Yetis were powerful, but he felt risking it for high-level items was worth it.
Just as he was thinking this, the Yetis that had been slowly approaching their encirclement suddenly stopped. Then, with a great leap, they jumped over the encirclement and appeared behind them.
At that moment, everyone finally understood why Redlight had left. They had been exposed all along.
They were waiting for the Yetis to enter their trap, but weren’t the Yetis also waiting to get close enough to them before launching their own attack?
They thought they were the hunters, little knowing they were the real prey.
Redlight’s group, who had already left, noticed this scene and felt a lingering fear.

Meanwhile, Kai York was chasing the Heavenly Eye, shouting Moira Lynch’s name.
Moira Lynch, however, had no intention of meeting him. So after leading Kai York to a safe place, she directed the Heavenly Eye to fly higher and higher until he couldn’t see it anymore.
She thought that would be enough to shake him, since Kai York had chosen the Gliding Cloak instead of a Flying Device back then.
Who would have thought that a pair of magnificent, cyan wings would suddenly sprout from Kai York’s back?
Seeing this, Moira Lynch didn’t hesitate. She immediately sped up. ’If I don’t get going, he’s actually going to catch me.’
High in the sky, Kai York flapped his wings and watched the spot where the Heavenly Eye had disappeared, muttering to himself, "Did I get it wrong?"
"But besides Moira Lynch, who else would know so much about the game?"
"No, wait. I think there is one other person."
Kai York suddenly thought of SoySauceDrunkard.
