Chapter 143: Land of the Yeti 19
Moira Lynch looked at the image of the Heavenly Eye displayed by Patience. It was golden, but the Heavenly Eyes in these cloth bags were not just golden—some were red.
"Is there a difference between the Golden and Red Celestial Eyes?"
[No information found on the Red Celestial Eye. All Heavenly Eyes currently on the market are golden.]
Upon hearing this, Moira Lynch gazed at the Red Celestial Eyes in the bag. There were indeed very few of them. ’Did I just get a secret rare version?’
Moira Lynch took out a Golden Celestial Eye, ready to test its effects. As for the Red Celestial Eyes, she decided she would look into them after the game was over.
Following the instructions provided by Patience, Moira Lynch infused it with her spiritual power.
As she poured in her spiritual power, the Golden Celestial Eye slowly began to rise.
A few minutes later, it transformed into a streak of golden light and shot toward the sky.
Watching the Golden Celestial Eye disappear, Moira Lynch focused her mind, and her entire perspective instantly switched.
It was a good thing she didn’t have a fear of heights. Having spent the past few days on the Flying Device, she had already grown accustomed to it. Otherwise, such a sudden, drastic shift in perspective would have scared her into a heart attack.
Although the Golden Celestial Eye was incredibly useful, its drawback quickly became apparent: she was blind to her immediate surroundings while using it.
In other words, while she was observing through the Heavenly Eye, she would completely lose her normal eyesight.
Her vision returned to normal. Moira Lynch frowned, taking a long moment to readjust to the sudden shift in perspective. This was another problem: every switch required a period of adaptation.
As she was contemplating a solution, it suddenly occurred to her that she had two eyes. She had tried multitasking before, so ’why not use each eye to see a different view?’
She got right to it.
Moira Lynch adjusted one of the lenses to a completely opaque state, leaving the other unchanged.
One eye’s vision was switched to the sky, while the other maintained her normal view.
It felt a bit strange at first, but Moira Lynch quickly adapted.
With the Heavenly Eye, her observation range multiplied.
The Heavenly Eye had another benefit: there were no distance limitations. It could go wherever she willed it and return just as easily.
Moira Lynch collected snow as she traveled, all while controlling the Heavenly Eye to dart about in the sky.
Usually, there were side quests wherever players gathered. She searched a wide area, but unfortunately, found nothing.
Thinking of the Frost-rock Voles in her storage, Moira Lynch decided to change her approach. She was now a registered adventurer; she could find her own quests.
She could also find the location of the Glacial Directorate while she was at it. She still had an S-rank Awakening Stone to claim as a quest reward.
With her new plan in mind, Moira Lynch took out her adventurer identity card and used the ID number to log into the adventurer-exclusive platform.
Adventurers often spent long periods in the wild; it was common to be out for half a year or even a full year at a time.
Conditions in the wild were complex and information was scarce. Having to travel to designated locations just to accept quests, all while being cut off from the latest news, was both time-consuming and laborious for adventurers.
For convenience, The Adventurer’s Guild had developed this dedicated system for adventurers.
It allowed them to not only accept and post quests but also scan completed objectives directly, which would then update the quest’s status to "Complete."
Some quests could be accepted by multiple adventurers or teams, but there was only one reward, so it was naturally first come, first served.
All one had to do was bring the required item back to claim the reward. It was incredibly convenient.
Moira Lynch looked at the list of quests. Some were snatched up by other adventurers before she could even finish reading the descriptions.
New quests appeared nearly every second, and just as many were constantly being completed.
The sheer volume was dazzling, making it impossible for Moira Lynch to read the content clearly.
Seeing the word "Filter" in the top-right corner, she decisively clicked it.
She set the quest area to Glacius, and the number of quests instantly dropped by a huge margin.
Even so, there were still several thousand quests, but this was a significant improvement over the previous overwhelming number. Moira Lynch began to go through them one by one.
[Collect Yeti Horn -- Quest Reward: Blessing of the Snow Maiden]
After looking up what the Blessing of the Snow Maiden was, Moira Lynch was incredibly thankful she hadn’t accepted that rip-off quest from the system earlier.
The Blessing of the Snow Maiden, as the name suggested, was a blessing bestowed by a Snow Maiden, which was another name for a Snow Sprite.
Unlike gambling on the odds by binge-eating Snow Chestnuts like Moira had, the Blessing of the Snow Maiden guaranteed a blessing 100% of the time.
Furthermore, blessings from Snow Sprites varied in strength. The blessings from Snow Chestnuts were completely random; one might receive a powerful blessing, but one could just as easily get a useless one. It was all beyond one’s control.
This particular Blessing of the Snow Maiden was clearly a very powerful one.
She accepted it without hesitation.
Since the quest didn’t specify a quantity, Moira Lynch only scanned a single Yeti Horn. If it wasn’t accepted, she could always scan a second one. Every little bit she could save counted.
After she scanned the first Yeti Horn, the quest’s status changed from "Incomplete" to "Complete."
Now, all she had to do was travel to the Glacial Directorate and turn in the Yeti Horn to receive the Blessing of the Snow Maiden.
Moira Lynch felt she had underestimated the value of Yeti Horns. If she could find one Yeti that had unfortunately died after being caught in an avalanche, then surely there was more than one poor soul across the entire snowfield who had met the same fate.
Moira Lynch then added a new task for herself: search for sites of past avalanches and see if any other unlucky Yetis were buried there.
In addition to that, Moira Lynch also saw a quest related to the Red Celestial Eye. The reward was one hundred million Gold Coins.
There was also a bounty for Golden Celestial Eyes, worth fifty million Gold Coins.
Moira Lynch couldn’t help but clutch at her chest, cursing the system in her head. ’That damn system almost made me make a mistake I’d regret for the rest of my life.’
But after a moment’s thought, she decided not to accept the quest.
The Heavenly Eye was a perfect match for her innate talent. Although she had gotten some from the three Yetis, the total number wasn’t that large, and some of them were the Red Celestial Eyes.
Speaking of the Red Celestial Eye, the fact that someone was willing to pay double the price of a golden one proved it was even more valuable.
She decided to study the function of the Red Celestial Eye first before making any decisions.
As she walked on, her Heavenly Eye didn’t spot anything, but her spiritual power detected a location where an avalanche had just happened.
The avalanche had only just subsided by the time she hurried over.
She had detected traces of a Yeti within the snowslide long before she arrived. She hadn’t noticed it earlier, so it must have been carried along by the avalanche.
Moira Lynch approached cautiously, afraid of triggering a second avalanche.
