Chapter 137: Land of the Yeti 13
After putting her mask back on, Moira Lynch decided to find Chef Jean first and complete the side quest.
Moira Lynch had originally planned to ask for directions, but the Snowfox Beastkin here were incredibly aloof and completely ignored her.
’Fine. If they wouldn’t tell her, she’d find it herself.’
’Since he’s a head chef, he should be in a restaurant or a similar establishment.’
Walking down the street, Moira Lynch soon found her destination.
’Gemma’s Restaurant?’
A sign by the entrance displayed a photograph with the words "Head Chef Jean" written on it.
’This must be the place.’
Retrieving the basket from her inventory space, Moira Lynch headed into the restaurant.
The restaurant’s interior was exceptionally elegant. The scenery seemed to shift with every step, creating a new vista wherever she looked.
[Illusionary Paint: Capable of constantly changing its appearance. A thousand people will see a thousand different versions.]
Moira Lynch was speechless.
’So, it isn’t a matter of decoration—it’s actually changing.’
Just then, a waiter with a pair of fluffy white ears atop his head and a bushy tail trailing behind him walked over. "May I help you?" he asked politely. "We have a special set meal today that is well worth trying."
In response, Moira Lynch presented her basket. "I’m not here to eat," she said. "I’m here to make a delivery."
The waiter’s foxy eyes lit up at the sight of the basket in Moira’s hands. "You’re finally here! Chef Jean has been waiting for a long time. Quick, come with me."
Moira Lynch followed the waiter toward the back. Before they even reached the kitchen, an enraged roar echoed from within.
"And you call yourselves chefs?! Look at this stuff you’ve made! How dare you present this garbage to me for tasting!"
...
"Where are the fish from Lake Iluna?! Why aren’t they here yet?! What in the world are those people doing?!"
The voice from inside reminded Moira Lynch of being scolded by her homeroom teacher in high school, making her reluctant to enter.
However, the waiter ahead of her had already pushed open the kitchen door. "Chef Jean, the fish delivery is here."
Hearing this, Chef Jean turned his devastatingly handsome face toward the doorway. "Well, since you’re here, what are you waiting for?" he said, his tone sharp. "Bring it over already! The customers are waiting."
"Right."
The waiter waved Moira Lynch over. "What are you standing there for? Get over here."
At that moment, the apprentices who had just been berated all breathed a collective sigh of relief, their gazes toward Moira Lynch filled with gratitude.
’What a lifesaver! She saved us from that fiery ordeal. Otherwise, who knows how long Chef Jean would have kept yelling.’
Moira Lynch walked over to the prep station, set the basket on top, and said, "The fish are inside."
Chef Jean’s eyes fell upon the basket. His long, slender, pale fingers lifted it slightly. He then took out a blue card and gently swiped it across the handle.
With a crisp BEEP, fish after fish began to pour endlessly from the basket.
A satisfied expression spread across Chef Jean’s face as he observed the size of the fish.
"The quality of this catch is excellent. Every single one is top-grade."
He then looked at Moira Lynch. "What would you like as a reward?"
"I can choose it myself?" Moira Lynch asked, surprised.
Chef Jean tilted his head to look at her. "Normally, no. But you’re the first one to deliver the fish, their quality is excellent, and... you’re not bad-looking. So, I’ll grant you a special privilege."
Moira Lynch was speechless.
’In any case, getting to pick her own reward was a good thing.’
’For that reason alone, she wouldn’t hold his comment against this fox.’
"So, where do I go to choose?"
Chef Jean pointed to one of the apprentices. "He’ll take you. I need to start prepping for the dinner service."
The person Chef Jean had pointed to quickly stepped forward and smiled at Moira Lynch. "Please, come with me."
On the way, Moira Lynch seized the chance to chat with the Snowfox Boy beside her. "Are you a chef here, too?"
The boy shook his head, a shy look on his face. "I can’t really be called a chef yet. I’m just an apprentice, so I mostly just help Chef Jean with odd jobs."
"Is Chef Jean that amazing?" Moira Lynch asked.
"You don’t know?" the Snowfox Boy said, looking at Moira Lynch in astonishment.
Moira Lynch shook her head. "This is my first time on Glacius, so I’m not familiar with a lot of things."
"Oh, I see," the Snowfox Boy said with a look of understanding. He then began to gush endlessly about Chef Jean.
Of course, more than ninety percent of it consisted of the Snowfox Boy’s adoration and praise for Chef Jean.
"Basically, Chef Jean is the most skilled and most handsome chef I’ve ever seen. My dream is to be just like him someday."
Moira Lynch nodded and said sincerely, "I’m sure you’ll achieve your dream."
"Thank you." The Snowfox Boy’s ears twitched, and he beamed with happiness.
When they arrived at their destination, the Snowfox Boy stopped. "This is the place. You can go in and choose. I’ll wait for you out here."
Moira Lynch glanced into the room. All sorts of items were neatly arranged inside, some still in their original packaging.
Moira Lynch looked at the text on the boxes; it was all various kinds of kitchenware.
’There’s so much stuff. It would take forever to look through it all one by one.’
Looking at the Snowfox Boy beside her, Moira Lynch thought of a way to save time: ask for help.
"Excuse me, there’s so much here. Could you help me pick something?"
The Snowfox Boy looked a little surprised and pointed at himself. "Me? You want me to help?"
Moira Lynch nodded. "Since you want to be a chef, you must know a lot about this stuff, right? So could you please help me pick something?"
Seeing how much she trusted him, the Snowfox Boy didn’t hesitate to agree.
"Do you have any specific needs?"
Moira Lynch thought for a moment. ’What *are* my needs?’
’It’s mostly kitchenware. What needs could I possibly have for that?’
After a moment, she said, "I want something comprehensive, convenient, time-saving, easy to use, and simple to operate."
After listening, the Snowfox Boy thought for a moment. "I know just the thing."
With that, he walked to the far end of the room. A few minutes later, he returned with a silver case and handed it to Moira Lynch.
Moira Lynch looked at the case in her hands. It was about the size of a cosmetics bag and didn’t feel very heavy.
"What is this?"
"It’s the new portable kitchen developed by Pegasus Corporation. Don’t be fooled by its small size—it has everything. It can perform any function a regular kitchen can."
