Chapter 136: Land of the Yeti 12
Hearing this, the Flower Gardener chuckled. "I thought it was something serious, but it’s just this."
As he spoke, he turned, grabbed a card, and handed it to Moira Lynch. "This is a single-use Teleportation Card. Once the item is finished, it can be sent directly to you with this card, so you don’t have to worry."
Moira Lynch happily took the card. ’You can do that? I have to say, things are really convenient in this interstellar age.’
"Thank you, then," Moira Lynch said politely.
The Flower Gardener saw Moira Lynch to the door with a cheerful laugh. "Don’t worry, I won’t disappoint you."
As soon as she stepped outside, she saw the little girl standing there, idly drawing in the snow out of boredom.
Her eyes lit up when she saw Moira Lynch come out.
’I was so happy to see the Flower Gardener that I almost forgot about this.’
Moira Lynch took two large, red strawberries from her space and gave them to the little girl, smiling. "Here. Thank you for guiding me."
The little girl took the strawberry and eagerly took a bite. The sweet and sour flavor captivated her instantly; she had never eaten anything so delicious.
After finishing one, she carefully put the other away to eat later.
"Are you leaving now?" the little girl asked, looking up at Moira Lynch.
Moira Lynch nodded, then realized she could probably ask the little girl for information about Snowfox Village.
With that thought, she crouched down. A moment later, a full basket of strawberries appeared in her hands.
The little girl’s eyes widened at the sight of the strawberries in Moira Lynch’s hands. "What else do you want to know?"
Moira Lynch was quite pleased with the girl’s sharpness. "I’d like to ask for the location of Snowfox Village," she said.
At the mention of Snowfox Village, the little girl instinctively frowned. "What do you want with them?"
"I’m an adventurer. I took a quest involving Snowfox Village, but I don’t know the way, so..."
The little girl pursed her lips, her gaze fixed on the strawberries in Moira Lynch’s hands. After a moment of internal debate, she said, "To get to Snowfox Village, just head right after you leave our village and walk for about a thousand meters. But the people there are very cunning. They look down on everyone just because they’re beautiful. You have to be careful not to get tricked by them."
"Okay, thank you for the warning. I’ll be careful," Moira Lynch said with a nod.
Just as she was about to leave, a thought struck her. ’How could I have almost forgotten my actual job?’
"Um, I’m actually a Recycler, too. Does your village have anything you don’t need? I can help take it off your hands."
Hugging the basket of strawberries, the little girl thought for a moment. "I’m not sure about that. I think I heard Village Chief Grandpa mention wanting to hire a Recycler to help out, but I don’t know the details. I can go ask him for you, though. Can you wait here?"
"Okay." Moira Lynch nodded. As she watched the little girl go, she prayed internally, ’I hope the Snow Rabbit Village chief hasn’t had time to hire another Recycler yet.’
While waiting, Moira Lynch snacked on a Snow Chestnut.
About five minutes later, the little girl came bouncing back. "Village Chief Grandpa said he hasn’t had time to hire another Recycler! Come with me."
Moira Lynch followed the little girl. ’Good thing I remembered when I did,’ she thought, ’or I would have missed this.’
Upon reaching a warehouse, the little girl stopped and pointed. "Village Chief Grandpa says everything inside needs to be dealt with. He said that since you’re by yourself, you probably won’t be able to teleport it all away, so you should just do what you can. Oh, and this is for you."
The little girl handed a bundle to Moira Lynch. Inside were Snow Rice Balls, a specialty of Snow Rabbit Village.
After accepting the bundle and saying thanks, Moira Lynch headed toward the warehouse.
’Can’t take it all? Just do my best? This village chief is really underestimating me.’
[Snow Rabbit Dung: A type of fuel. When burned, it emits a faint, pleasant aroma. Can also be used as a spice.
PS: The scent it emits depends on what the Snow Rabbit Beastman ate.]
The moment she walked in, she was greeted by the sight of a mountain of burlap sacks filled with Snow Rabbit Dung.
With a wave of her hand, she swept it all into her space.
Next, another pile of burlap sacks appeared before her.
Unlike the sacks of dung, these were bulging but felt exceptionally soft to the touch.
She opened one of the sacks and found it was full of white rabbit fur.
[Snow Rabbit Beastman Fur: Extremely warm. Every summer, Snow Rabbit Beastmen shed their thick coats of fur.]
’Another great thing for staying warm. I’ll take it all.’
Aside from these two types of items, which were the most plentiful, the rest was just a mishmash of random things.
To save time, Moira Lynch didn’t even bother looking, just sweeping everything into her space. She’d sort it all out after the game was over.
’I’ll keep whatever’s useful and post the rest in my shop to sell. Maybe I can get some more Gold.’
’She remembered Patience mentioning that Gold and jade from Caelus are extremely rare and valuable out in space.’
Once she had collected everything, Moira Lynch left Snow Rabbit Village and headed in the direction the little girl had indicated.
After about half an hour of walking, Snowfox Village came into view.
With its paved roads and well-ordered buildings, it looked less like a village and more like a small town.
Sure enough, just as Patience had said, every member of The Snowfox Tribe was a great beauty—the kind of beauty that didn’t give a damn if anyone else lived or died.
Moira Lynch’s approach to Snowfox Village didn’t attract any attention. Everyone simply continued with what they were doing.
Moira Lynch noticed the Snowfox Beastmen here had two distinct appearances. One type had black hair and black eyes. The other was completely white: their hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, and even their eyes. Everything but their lips was white.
It didn’t take long for Moira Lynch to realize what was going on. ’They must have eaten Snow Chestnuts, just like me. That’s why they look this way.’
She hadn’t checked her own reflection since eating the Snow Chestnuts, so Moira Lynch pulled a small mirror from her space.
Sure enough, not only had the visible strands of her hair turned white, but her eyebrows and eyelashes had too.
Her eyes were still black, thanks to the beauty contact lenses she was wearing. ’But if I take them out,’ she thought, ’my eyes would definitely be white, too.’
She pulled her mask down. The color of her lips had faded to a very pale shade, but at least they weren’t completely white.
’Otherwise, a bloodless face like a corpse on a dark and windy night... That would be enough to scare someone to death.’
