Chapter 185: Deserted Island Survival 9
"My ability is to conjure all sorts of tools."
As she spoke, Moira Lynch gave a demonstration, and a shovel materialized in her hand.
The three men’s eyes lit up the moment they heard about Moira Lynch’s ability.
"Then can you create weapons?"
’If she can create firearms like guns, wouldn’t we be invincible in this game?’
The rules for this game severely limited what they could bring—no food or water and only a finite number of items. This had greatly hampered their performance.
While they hadn’t gone hungry these past three days, they had barely managed to get by.
Hearing this, Moira Lynch knew exactly what they were thinking. She shook her head. "I can only create simple tools and weapons, and only if I’ve seen them before. As for guns, I’ve never tried."
’The Universal Gloves would need ten days to replicate a handgun, and more complex firearms would take even longer.’
Just then, the man in the lead stepped forward and snatched the shovel from Moira Lynch’s hand.
The moment it left her grasp, however, the shovel vanished instantly.
"What’s going on? Where did the shovel go?"
"Only I can use the tools I create," Moira Lynch explained.
Then, another man asked, "The game lets you bring ten items at the start, right? What did you bring?"
"Look, if we’re going to clear this game together, we should help each other out, right? Of course, we won’t force you. But if you don’t tell us what you’re carrying, we can’t fully trust you. And don’t forget, this game lasts a full thirty days."
’A classic carrot-and-stick, trying to advance by pretending to back down.’
Moira Lynch cursed the three shameless players in her head. ’To think they’re even after my items.’
By this point in the game, every player had managed to get their hands on an item or two.
These three players belonged to the same civilian organization in the real world.
Because of the news that SoySauceDrunkard was going to auction off the planet, the head of their organization had ordered them to collect as many items as possible inside the game.
By now, Moira Lynch was growing impatient. Talking to these people was a complete waste of time.
Besides, it was clear they had no intention of letting her go.
Moira Lynch felt a pang of regret. ’If I’d known this would happen, I would have stuck with my previous act.’
’Then again, if they found out I could talk to animals, they’d be even less likely to leave me alone.’
After all, this deserted island was teeming with animals, second only to its plant life.
Moira Lynch leaped back, landing gracefully on a tree branch.
Then, before their stunned eyes, she activated the Illusion Cloak.
By the time the three men reacted and moved to attack, Moira Lynch had already moved.
One of the three had a wind talent, another a metal talent that allowed him to turn his hands into machines, and the last could breathe fire.
’Did they really think I’d just run away? Not a chance.’
Moira Lynch retrieved six blooming Ardens from her inventory, then used her spiritual power to shove them straight up the three men’s noses.
The Arden’s effects were swift. Within moments, the three men found they couldn’t move their bodies or make a sound.
Moira Lynch watched from a short distance away. She remained hidden, instead using her spiritual power to loot everything from their bodies.
The three men had just given her an idea. The system might limit what players could bring into the game, but it never said you couldn’t take things from others.
In an unfamiliar environment like this, people would surely keep their valuables on them—like their items.
This was especially true for these three, who were out hunting. They would definitely have their items on hand.
After a thorough search, Moira Lynch found four items on them.
She found two on the leader and one on each of the other two men.
Looking at the four items she’d acquired, Moira Lynch tsked. ’Is that all?’ she grumbled to herself.
’These guys seemed pretty tough, I can’t believe they only had this many items. Did they leave the rest with their teammates?’
What Moira Lynch didn’t know was that she herself was the main reason they had so few items.
Because of the planet auction happening in two months, nearly every nation and faction on Caelus was frantically collecting items.
After stowing the items away, Moira Lynch left without a backward glance.
Before she left, she scattered more Ardens all around the three men.
In the end, Moira Lynch decided not to be too ruthless.
Once she had put some distance between them and confirmed her surroundings were safe, Moira Lynch deactivated her Invisibility.
It was noon by now. Moira Lynch found a patch of dense bushes, slipped inside, and took out the roast venison she had prepared earlier to eat.
Once she had eaten her fill, she didn’t rush off. Instead, she took out the four items she had just acquired.
[Tetanus Blade: Its surface is covered in a virus. Anyone scratched by it has an 80% chance of being infected.]
[Tracking Boomerang: A dart that returns to its user after being thrown. Attack range: 100 meters.]
[Powerful Water Gun: Fires high-impact water projectiles to attack enemies.]
These three items were all for offense, which fit with the three men being out on a hunt.
And this last one.
Moira Lynch looked at the palm-sized white case in her hand.
[Name: Magical Medical Box
Function: Produces different medicines each day. The quantity and type are random.
Rank: Intermediate Item (Upgradeable)]
Moira Lynch’s eyes widened as she read the description for the Magical Medical Box. This was the first time she had seen an item that was explicitly listed as upgradeable.
She was even more shocked that such an item would appear here.
While Moira Lynch wasn’t short on medicine herself, she understood that an item like this was a strategic-level asset.
This reminded Moira Lynch of someone.
After the last game ended, a merchant selling medicine had appeared among the players.
This player was anonymous, and the various medicines they sold included some available in the System Mall and some that weren’t.
The medicines changed daily, and due to the limited quantity, this merchant wasn’t nearly as famous as Moira Lynch.
Looking at the Magical Medical Box in her hand, Moira Lynch thought she probably knew who this anonymous, medicine-selling player was.
Plus, the item had been hidden extremely well. If not for Moira Lynch’s spiritual power, who would have thought to check for an item hidden deep inside someone’s pants?
Moira Lynch guessed that the man must have obtained this item by chance and kept it quiet. Otherwise, there was no way it would have remained in his possession.
Opening the Magical Medical Box, she saw that quite a few medicines had already accumulated inside. Among them were the high-grade recovery potions Moira Lynch was familiar with, as well as ordinary nutrient liquid and Energy Bars.
