The Plesiosaur had eaten the food Perry Yates carefully prepared. Now it was just a matter of waiting for the poison to take effect.

Surprisingly, after finishing its meal, the Plesiosaur didn’t go searching for other food as it normally did. Instead, it stood in place, its long neck outstretched, completely motionless.

About ten minutes passed, but the poison still showed no sign of taking effect. The Plesiosaur, however, began to move.

This time, it still didn’t search for food. Instead, it turned and headed toward the lake.

Perry Yates didn’t emerge from her hiding spot until the Plesiosaur’s form had completely vanished into the lake.

"That’s strange. I used so much poison, yet nothing’s happened after more than ten minutes."

’Did the plan fail? Could this Plesiosaur be immune to poison?’

Perry Yates quickly dismissed the thought. That was impossible. According to the data she’d collected on the Plesiosaur, it didn’t possess any attributes for poison resistance.

’So, it must be a matter of size. This Plesiosaur is just too big.’

And while the Venomous Python she’d used as a vehicle for the poison had been large, compared to the Plesiosaur, it was as insignificant as a worm.

As for why the Plesiosaur left immediately after eating, that was easy enough to understand. Perry Yates had used Ascension on the Venomous Python for five consecutive days. So, while it was toxic, every piece of its flesh and every one of its cells had been enriched by Ascension, leaving it packed with energy.

’Simply put, one was as good as ten.’

She returned to the hiding spot where Evan Fuller and Amber Sheridan were waiting.

The moment she returned, Amber Sheridan immediately asked, "How did it go? Why is it so quiet out there?"

Perry Yates shook her head. "The Plesiosaur is too massive. It’s going to take some time for the poison to take effect."

But their wait lasted the entire night. Dawn broke on the twenty-seventh day of the game, and still, there was no commotion from the direction of the lake.

"It’s been hours," Amber Sheridan said, her voice laced with doubt. "Are you sure your poison isn’t useless?"

"I don’t think so..." Perry Yates’s own voice was now tinged with uncertainty.

’There was only one way to find out.’

With this in mind, Perry Yates headed to the shore.

The island was surrounded by Brine-Borers, so no other living things could be seen in the surrounding sea—only the Brine-Borers themselves.

The thing was, living Brine-Borers were transparent and completely invisible to the naked eye.

Perry Yates had come to the shore to test the effectiveness of her poison, but the moment she got close, she sensed something was wrong.

"Do you guys feel that? Something’s not right," Perry Yates said, turning to Evan Fuller.

"The coastline has moved forward," Evan Fuller said.

"It’s more than that." Perry Yates frowned, stomping her foot a few times. "The sound is off. It sounds like it’s hollow underneath."

Although she didn’t know what was going on, Perry Yates put herself on high alert.

Then, she silently released Claudia Vance, making it translucent and keeping it circling around her.

Once that was done, Perry Yates approached the water’s edge and took a basin of bloody entrails from her Space Backpack.

These were the discarded parts from previously butchered prey, which Perry Yates had saved.

Perry Yates had injected these entrails with the same poison, making them just as toxic as the previous Venomous Python. Then, she dumped the entire contents of the basin into the seemingly placid sea.

The water, once calm, was instantly stained a faint red from the entrails. A moment later, the placid surface erupted into a frenzy.

The Brine-Borers were invisible while alive, so all Perry Yates and the others could see was the surface of the water suddenly begin to churn. Countless droplets leaped into the air as if the sea itself were at a rave.

Meanwhile, the entrails they had thrown into the water were disappearing at a speed visible to the naked eye.

The poison acted fast. Soon, a black layer covered the once-clear surface of the sea, and it was growing constantly. It was entirely composed of the corpses of dead Brine-Borers.

Seeing this, Perry Yates was certain. There was nothing wrong with her poison. The problem lay with the Plesiosaur.

’As I thought, it’s just too massive.’

Perry Yates muttered to herself, then had one of her items analyze how long it would take for the poison to fully affect the Plesiosaur.

Fortunately, she had been observing the Plesiosaur every time it had appeared over the past few days. The distance had been great, but she had the necessary data.

Soon, the item finished its analysis. Given the Plesiosaur’s size and the amount of poison Perry Yates had used, it would take at least twelve hours for the toxins to become fully effective.

"It’s going to take that long?!"

When Perry Yates shared this information with the other two, Amber Sheridan had the exact same reaction. She couldn’t believe it would take that long.

There was nothing to be done but wait. Besides, most of the twelve hours had already passed.

Soon enough, just as the twelve-hour mark was approaching, there was finally a commotion from the lake.

The calm lake water suddenly began to roil.

The Plesiosaur, which never showed itself in the daytime, suddenly shot its long neck and head out of the water, unleashing a pained, guttural cry toward the sky.

"Looks like the poison has kicked in."

Without a moment’s hesitation, Perry Yates activated her Any Door, transporting herself, Evan Fuller, and Amber Sheridan to the nearest hideout.

The poison had kicked in, but it obviously wasn’t immediately fatal. The Plesiosaur could still fight back. It might even go into a complete frenzy as it felt its life slipping away, and in its desperation, it might try to take them down with it.

To avoid that possibility, it was better to hide.

However, that didn’t mean Perry Yates was ignoring the situation outside.

Inside the hideout, Perry Yates took out an item she had prepared long ago.

’You think I did all that preparing for nothing?’

The item looked like a pair of cylindrical rods held together. When opened, they formed a high-tech screen that was currently displaying what was happening outside.

On the screen, they saw the Plesiosaur thrashing in agony.

It had already left the lake and was now rampaging across the entire island, periodically spitting white rays from its mouth that carved deep chasms in the ground.

Fortunately, the Plesiosaur’s rampage was not near them. Still, to be safe, Perry Yates kept the Any Door open, ready to change locations at a moment’s notice.

The Plesiosaur continued to thrash about, but it didn’t know that the more it struggled, the faster its blood pumped, and the more quickly the venom would permeate its entire body.
