The gallery beyond the new archway felt older than the ones above.

Leon moved along the sloping floor of dense yellowed bone, the Abyssal Stinger held loosely at his side. The grooves cut into the walls were deeper here—long, parallel gouges that looked less like decoration and more like the passing of something enormous that had once forced its way through. The dark veins no longer pulsed in scattered rhythms. They ran in thick, continuous lines, all flowing downward in the same direction.

The bone shard in his inventory had gone quiet, but the silence felt deliberate, as though it was listening.

The Aura of the End-Game brushed the walls as he walked. Where it touched the glowing veins, the crimson light retreated a short distance and then slowly crept back, testing the boundary. The buried presence was no longer simply aware of him. It was measuring him.

After several hundred meters the passage widened into a long, descending hall. The ceiling rose high enough that the upper reaches remained in darkness. Along both sides, massive bone pillars supported the weight of the structure above. Between the pillars stood more guardians—eight this time, fully formed, their plates fitted with deliberate care, their glaives unbroken. These were not the incomplete remnants he had faced earlier. They stood in perfect stillness until he crossed an invisible threshold.

Then they moved as one.

Leon did not wait for them to close ranks.

He expanded the domain hard. Absolute darkness rolled outward, and the nearest guardians staggered as their strength and speed dropped under the sudden weight of Finality. He was among them before they recovered. The Abyssal Stinger found the first joint gap with clinical precision. A controlled Calamity Tide swept the legs from two more. The rest tried to press him with overlapping glaive arcs, but the domain dulled every edge that entered its radius. Each time a blade slowed, the Stinger answered.

The fight was short and ugly. When it ended, eight fresh mounds of ash and dark metal littered the hall floor.

The surge this time carried more weight. Leon stood still for a moment and let the new power settle into bone and muscle.

He closed the panel.

At the far end of the hall the bone floor simply ended.

A wide circular shaft dropped straight down into deeper darkness. The veins in the walls all converged on its rim and poured over the edge like luminous blood. From far below came a slow, heavy sound—stone grinding against stone, or something vast shifting its weight after a very long sleep.

The bone shard flared once, hard enough that Leon felt the heat through his coat.

He walked to the edge of the shaft and looked down.

There was no visible bottom. Only darkness, the continuing glow of the veins, and the sense of a presence that had finally decided to stop measuring and start responding.

Leon stepped off the edge.

The controlled fall carried him deeper still, the Aura of the End-Game forming a dark envelope around his descending form. Above him the gallery he had just cleared grew smaller. Below him the buried heart of Floor 8 waited.

Whatever had been sleeping under the Bleached Expanse was awake now.

And it was no longer content to wait.
