The path between the bone ridges narrowed quickly.

Leon walked without slowing, the Aura of the End-Game held close around his body like a second cloak. The ivory walls rose higher on either side until the iron-gray sky became a thin strip overhead. The dry wind of the Bleached Expanse failed to follow him in. Sound itself seemed to dull. Even his own footsteps came back softer than they should have.

The yellowed bone shard in his inventory pulsed once, faintly, as though answering something ahead.

He did not take it out. He already understood what it was doing.

The deeper he went, the more the stone underfoot changed. The smooth pale plates gave way to a surface shot through with thin, dark veins that pulsed with a slow, irregular rhythm. Not mana in the Concord’s sense. Something older. The Ashen Fog brushed against those veins and recoiled slightly, not from pain but from recognition—the same way a blade recognizes another blade.

After nearly a kilometer the corridor opened.

Leon stepped out onto the edge of a vast sinkhole.

The drop was sheer. Hundreds of meters down, the bottom was lost in darkness, but the walls of the sinkhole were not empty. Great arches of yellowed bone had been built—or grown—into the sides, forming tiered galleries that spiraled downward. Faint crimson light leaked from deeper openings. The air rising from below carried a cold, mineral smell, like stone that had never seen the sun.

The bone shard pulsed again, stronger this time.

Leon stood at the edge for a long moment, studying the structure. This was not Concord work. The architecture was too organic, too patient. The Concord built upward and outward, planting banners and command nodes. Whatever had shaped this place had dug down and then waited.

A low vibration traveled up through the stone and into his boots.

Something at the bottom had noticed the shard.

Leon glanced once over his shoulder at the narrow path that had brought him here. Behind him lay the surface of Floor 8 and the broken remnants of the Concord’s first line. Ahead lay a descent that the system itself had not bothered to label.

He stepped off the edge.

The fall was controlled. The Void Monarch Set and his own physical density made the drop almost leisurely. He landed on the first major gallery in a light crouch, the impact sending a dull tremor through the bone platform. Dust—fine and pale—rose around his boots and then settled again.

The gallery stretched in both directions, following the curve of the sinkhole. Tall archways opened into darker chambers. Some still held the remnants of old barriers, their runes long dead. Others were simply open, exhaling colder air.

Leon chose the path that pulled hardest on the shard.

The first chamber he entered was an ossuary of sorts. Hundreds of bone fragments had been set into the walls in careful patterns, forming incomplete glyphs that hurt the eyes if stared at too long. In the center of the room stood a low pedestal of black iron. Something had once rested there. Only a circular imprint remained.

As he crossed the threshold, the glyphs on the walls flickered once with dull crimson light.

They recognized the shard.

A soft grinding sound came from deeper in the complex.

Leon continued on.

The second chamber was larger. A wide bridge of fused bone crossed a deeper pit, and on the far side stood three figures.

They were similar to the Bone Warden he had already destroyed, but incomplete—half-formed, their plates mismatched, their glaives cracked and uneven. Guardians that had been waiting too long. The crimson lights in their sockets flared when they saw him.

They did not speak.

They simply charged.

Leon met them on the bridge.

There was no extended exchange this time. The first guardian swung high; he stepped under the blade and drove the Abyssal Stinger through its sternum in the same motion. The second tried to flank; a short, controlled burst of Calamity Tide took its legs out from under it before the Stinger finished the work. The third managed a single heavy blow that scraped across his shoulder plate and achieved nothing. Leon caught the shaft of its glaive, yanked the creature forward, and put the dagger through the base of its skull.

Three more mounds of ash and dark metal joined the silence.

The bridge did not even tremble.

Beyond the bridge the pull of the shard grew sharper. The air thickened. The dark veins in the walls pulsed faster, as though something large had begun to breathe more quickly.

Leon paused long enough to check his current state.

The numbers were clean. The refined power taken from the Bone Warden still sat heavy in his core, denser than ordinary extractions.

He closed the panel and walked on, deeper into the buried structure, the Aura of the End-Game spreading a few paces ahead of him like a searching hand.

Whatever had been sleeping under the Bleached Expanse was no longer entirely asleep.

And it now knew he was coming.
