The amphitheater of pale bone held its silence like a held breath.

Leon Graves descended the shallow slope without hurry. Each step left a faint gray print where the Aura of the End-Game brushed the ivory surface and quietly unmade a thin layer of it. Across the center of the depression, the bone-and-iron figure watched him come. It did not shift its stance. The long glaive remained angled low, point resting lightly against the stone, as though the entity had all the time in the world.

No system window appeared at first. No name. No level. Only the steady crimson glow in those empty sockets and the weight of an older authority pressing against the edges of Leon’s domain.

Leon stopped ten paces away and finally called the interface.

The numbers settled cleanly. The gains from the earlier fortress and the scout patrol had already integrated. He closed the panel with a thought.

The glaive rose.

The first exchange was almost too clean.

The bone figure closed the distance in a single, ground-eating stride, the glaive sweeping horizontally with enough force to shear through a fortress wall. Leon stepped inside the arc rather than away from it. The Abyssal Stinger met the shaft of the glaive in a short, sharp clash that sent a vibration up both arms. Sparks of crimson and violet light scattered across the amphitheater floor.

The entity was strong. Stronger than the Concord commanders he had erased on the surface. Its physical power sat closer to the upper edge of what Floor 8 should have been able to field. Yet the moment its weapon entered the Aura of the End-Game, the pale bone of the glaive began to dull. Fine cracks spider-webbed along the edge.

The bone figure noticed.

It disengaged at once, leaping back with a speed that belied its size. The crimson lights in its sockets flared brighter. The air around it thickened as it pulled on whatever residual law still lingered in this place. Pale runes—older than the Concord’s script—lit across its iron joints.

Leon did not give it time to finish.

He advanced.

The second clash was uglier.

The glaive came down in a vertical cleave meant to split him from crown to groin. Leon caught the haft against the flat of the Stinger and turned the blow aside, then stepped in close. His free hand rose, fingers splayed, and a tightly controlled pulse of Calamity Tide erupted at point-blank range. The violet fire did not spread wide this time. It concentrated, a short spear of pure decay that punched into the entity’s chest plate.

Bone blackened. Iron hissed.

The figure staggered but did not fall. One heavy fist lashed out, catching Leon across the shoulder and sending him sliding several meters back across the smooth ivory floor. The Void Monarch Set absorbed the worst of the impact, yet the force behind the blow was real enough to register.

Leon rolled his shoulder once, reset his stance, and went forward again.

They met in the center of the amphitheater a third time.

This exchange lasted longer. The bone figure fought with the grim efficiency of something that had been killing for centuries. Every swing of the glaive was measured. Every shift of its weight was economical. It tried to keep Leon at the edge of its reach, using the length of the weapon to deny him the close-range kills he preferred.

Leon refused the distance.

He let the domain press harder.

The Aura of the End-Game thickened, the air inside it turning heavy and dead. The older runes across the entity’s joints flickered. The crimson light in its sockets dimmed by a fraction. The pale bone of the glaive continued to degrade with every clash, the weapon slowly losing its edge under the constant pressure of Finality.

When the glaive finally cracked, Leon was ready.

He slipped inside the broken arc, drove the Abyssal Stinger up beneath the entity’s sternum, and released Finality Eclipse at the precise moment the tip pierced whatever served as its core.

There was no dramatic explosion.

The bone figure simply stopped.

Crimson light fled the empty sockets. The iron joints locked. A slow network of gray cracks spread outward from the wound, racing across the yellowed plates until the entire form collapsed into a heavy mound of ash and dark metal fragments.

Silence returned to the amphitheater.

A heavy, refined torrent of power flooded Leon’s core—cleaner than the raw surges from Concord commanders, carrying conceptual weight rather than simple attribute mass. Whatever this thing had been, it had carried a fragment of something older than the current system architecture.

He crouched, brushed aside the ash, and retrieved a single object from the center of the pile: a narrow shard of yellowed bone etched with a single, incomplete rune. The moment his fingers closed around it, a faint resonance traveled up his arm and into the Ashen Fog network.

Somewhere far below the Bleached Expanse, something vast and buried shifted in its sleep.

Leon rose, slid the shard into his inventory, and looked toward the far side of the amphitheater. A new path had opened between the bone ridges—narrower, darker, leading deeper into the Expanse.

He adjusted the collar of his duster and started walking.

The Concord’s surface defenses on Floor 8 were already broken. What waited farther in had never belonged to them in the first place
