Apocalypse Regression: I Am the SSS-Rank Nightmare

Chapter 70:Floor 7, Sector 09: The Silent Vaults

The primary descent gate at the heart of the Echoing Abyss did not open with light. It parted like a wound in the dark, revealing a vertical shaft of pure violet energy that dropped away into absolute silence.

Leon Graves stepped through without pause. The Abyss Observation Key in his inventory pulsed once, rewriting the gate’s residual command signature so that no Concord protocol could seal it behind him. The Aura of the End-Game expanded the instant his boots left the black stone platform, forming a protective sphere of absolute darkness that erased the spatial turbulence before it could touch his frame.

The transition lasted less than two seconds.

When the violet shaft released him, Leon stood upon a wide circular platform of seamless black obsidian suspended in a vast, lightless cavern. The air here was colder and heavier than any previous sector of Floor 7. No crystal lanterns burned. No residual starlight reached this depth. The only illumination came from slow-moving rivers of deep violet mana that flowed along the cavern walls like liquid night, casting long, distorted shadows across the stone.

[Transfer Sequence: 100% Complete.]

[You have arrived at Floor 7, Sector 09: The Silent Vaults.]

[Local environmental trait active: Absolute Mana Stillness – ambient mana regeneration reduced by 40% for unregistered entities. Conceptual immunity mitigates this effect.]

The full passive immunity of the Void Monarch Set nullified the stillness penalty before it could register. Leon’s mana core remained unhindered. He stood still for a single breath, allowing the Level 2 Ashen Fog to expand across the new sector and map every structure within three miles.

The Silent Vaults were not a simple transit zone. Massive sealed vault doors of black alloy lined the cavern walls at irregular intervals, each one reinforced with layered spatial anchors and residual Concord wards. In the center of the platform rose a single fortified command dais—smaller than the previous bastions, yet denser with high-tier signatures. Residual alarm protocols from the fallen observation network had already reached this far. The dais was active.

Leon adjusted the collar of his duster coat and began walking toward the central structure.

The numbers sat in quiet balance after the previous engagement. The extraction from Warden-Captain Sereth had settled cleanly. With the full Void Monarch Set active, his physical density and movement speed remained far beyond the linear expectations of even the deeper vaults of Floor 7.

He reached the base of the command dais. Six Level 70 Arcane Wardens stood in a defensive hexagon around the entrance, their crystal masks already turned toward him. Layered mana shields interlocked the moment his presence crossed the detection threshold.

"Deep-vault anomaly confirmed," the lead Warden projected. "Previous command nodes have fallen silent. Erase on sight."

Leon did not slow.

He expanded the Aura of the End-Game to its full fifty-foot radius.

BOOM.

Absolute darkness swallowed the platform. The interlocking shields of the six Wardens peeled away into gray ash. Their attributes dropped by forty percent under the passive weight of Finality. Gravity inside the circle multiplied, forcing three of them to one knee.

Leon activated Abyssal Step.

Six seconds of complete erasure. He moved through the paralyzed formation, the Abyssal Stinger leaving and returning to its sheath in six precise motions. Necrotic Injection discharged with each thrust, severing cores before any distress signal could form.

Six neat mounds of dark gray sand marked the threshold.

[Six high-tier Arcane Wardens destroyed.]

[Experience gained: 48,000.]

The entrance of the command dais, already weakened by the domain, crumbled into ash when Leon placed his palm against the black alloy and pushed a controlled pulse of Finality into the structure. He stepped through into the inner chamber.

The chamber was circular and high-ceilinged, lined with sealed data vaults that continuously recorded spatial and mana fluctuations across the deeper layers. Arrayed across the floor stood eight Level 71 Arcane Magisters and, at their center, a single heavier signature—Vault-Keeper Morvath, deep-vault authority of Sector 09.

Morvath’s crystal mask turned toward the intruder. The voice that entered Leon’s mind was cold and absolute.

"You have erased three command nodes in succession. This vault will be your final record."

Eight staves rose in unison. A coordinated high-concept sealing array began to form—layers of interlocking spatial runes designed to lock a target in place, suppress movement skills, and continuously drain mana while amplifying the cavern’s stillness effect.

Leon walked forward into the forming array.

The Aura of the End-Game erased the runes the moment they entered its radius, turning the carefully constructed sigils into drifting gray ash. The full passive immunity of the Void Monarch Set nullified the residual stillness amplification before it could take hold.

Morvath’s wings of compressed spatial energy snapped open. The Vault-Keeper launched itself forward at high speed, black crystal gauntlets forming into dense spatial blades aimed at Leon’s core.

Leon activated Finality Eclipse.

The entire chamber lost sound and color for a fraction of a second. The SSS-rank skill forced the pure, concentrated concept of decay into a single point of physical impact, completely ignoring the remaining conceptual defenses of the living crystal armor. The Abyssal Stinger drove forward and pierced the center of Morvath’s chest, where the primary spatial core burned with cold violet light.

BOOM.

The core collapsed inward. The kinetic energy folded into a black vortex of necrotic fire that systematically ate through every remaining structure of the Level 73 deep-vault authority. The spatial wings dissolved into gray ash. The living black crystal armor turned brittle and crumbled. Vault-Keeper Morvath’s form folded in on itself and became a single tall mound of dark gray sand at the center of the chamber.

[Deep-Vault Authority Vault-Keeper Morvath completely annihilated.]

A massive torrent of stolen attributes and pure mana flooded Leon’s core. His framework expanded smoothly to accommodate the influx. The residual violet smoke drifting from his knuckles faded into the cold air of the vault chamber.

He walked forward through the settling ash and retrieved the sole remaining object at the center of the sand mound: a heavy black crystal seal pulsing with dense administrative light—the Silent Vault Master Key.

[Silent Vault Master Key acquired.]

[Administrative override of Sector 09 vault network is now possible.]

[Path to the primary transfer gate leading toward Floor 8 has been unlocked.]

Leon closed his fingers around the seal. Through the Ashen Fog he felt the remaining defensive protocols across the nearby vault doors collapse one by one. Residual constructs deactivated and fell still. The deep-vault network of Sector 09 was silent.

He turned toward the far side of the chamber, where a larger transfer gate had begun to materialize—a wide vertical tear of deep violet energy leading upward and outward, toward the threshold of the next major layer of the Obsidian Firmament.

The deep-vault defenses of the Aethelgard Concord on Floor 7 had been broken. The vault authority was ash. The path to Floor 8 now answered to him.

Leon Graves slid the Silent Vault Master Key into his internal inventory, adjusted the collar of his duster coat, and stepped toward the newly opened gate. The Aura of the End-Game trailed behind him like a living mantle of absolute finality, ready to unmake whatever the Architects had prepared on the next floor.
