Chapter 525 -369: Clan Leader

Marcus Monroe would agree to anything Paige Summers asked.

The problem now, however, was that they didn’t know how things were going with The Shaman and Rhonda Rhodes.

After some thought, Paige Summers had Summers Twelve arrange a meeting with Shawn Summers.

She also got a list of shipbuilding materials and dozens of blueprints from Summers Twelve. There were designs for both wooden and metal ships, most of them warships.

These were the fruits of Summers Twelve’s labor over many years. He had endured all kinds of threats without ever handing over a single blueprint.

Seeing this made Paige Summers appreciate his situation even more.

“I’ll talk to Shawn Summers and arrange to rent a boat in advance. As soon as my companions finish their mission, we’ll take Shawn Summers and head to that island of yours. I’ll help them build the ships, then find a chance to come back for you. Just wait for us, and don’t worry.”

Paige Summers spoke with conviction, but Summers Twelve wasn’t as confident. He said earnestly, “The boat you came in must be small. Don’t worry about coming back for me. As long as you can find a way to get everyone else back to Astoria, that’ll be enough!”

Paige Summers shook her head. “We didn’t come by boat, and that route wouldn’t work for so many people anyway. Building our own ships is a must. Besides, there’s no way I’m leaving you here alone.”

Summers Twelve was stunned.

‘Successfully building a ship is no easy task. If they wait, Paige Summers and her group might get trapped on the island too. But he couldn’t bear the thought of Paige leaving without him. He didn’t care about himself; he’d already given the blueprints to Paige, so she could definitely get them out. It was just… his cousin and the others had suffered for so many years. He had thought this was finally their chance to return to their homeland…’

Marcus Monroe saw through his thoughts and narrowed his eyes impatiently. “You think she’s bluffing? It’s just shipbuilding. She can even build an entire base, let alone a single ship!”

Summers Twelve was instantly dumbfounded.

Paige Summers smiled. “I guess I don’t need to be modest with you. I’ve never built a ship before, but after looking over your blueprints, I don’t think it’ll be a problem. Besides, I have a full set of tools with me, and with Marcus Monroe here to help, it shouldn’t take too long.”

Summers Twelve excitedly grabbed her hand. “You… you have the same superpower? This… This is wonderful!”

He hadn’t even held it for two seconds before Marcus Monroe slapped his hand away.

Paige Summers held back a laugh. “I do have a talent for this kind of thing. Also, this is Marcus Monroe, my husband. He’s a great guy, but he gets a little jealous. Don’t mind him.”

Both surprised and overjoyed, Summers Twelve quickly shook his head. “Not at all, not at all. In that case, I’ll arrange for you to meet Shawn Summers first thing tomorrow. I’ll have him take you to the island.”

After arranging the time and place to meet, Paige Summers decided it was best to leave for the night.

Since Summers Twelve was under surveillance, staying any longer risked exposing their whereabouts.

Summers Twelve felt the same way.

As they were leaving, Paige Summers fed one of her medicine pills to Sunny, who was still on the floor. “She’ll be unconscious for at least two days after taking this. You can explain what happened afterward. Just make sure you don’t mention us. Understand?”

Although Summers Twelve said Sunny was on his side, Paige Summers wasn’t so sure. She even wondered if Morindale Island was using Sunny as a way to keep tabs on his every move… She would have an answer to that soon enough.

Summers Twelve nodded. “Paige, you can rest assured. I know what’s important.”

Paige Summers simply smiled without a word. With a wave, she and Marcus Monroe departed from Summers Twelve’s home as silently as they had come.

They found an inconspicuous inn to settle in for the night, making sure they hadn’t been followed.

After they had both showered, Marcus Monroe sat cross-legged on the bed, his eyes fixed on Paige Summers as she combed her hair in front of the mirror.

“You don’t trust Summers Twelve?”

Paige Summers smiled. “I trust him as a person, I suppose, but I have no faith in his capabilities.” After a pause, she added, “Are you talking about the fact that I didn’t give him the antidote?” The pill she had given Summers Twelve earlier was poison—a slow-acting one, of course. She had originally intended to use it as leverage in case he’d turned bad and tried to expose them, but it hadn’t been necessary. Still, she hadn’t given him the antidote when she left.

She hadn’t forgotten; it was intentional.

“If we can come back for him, we’ll cure him then. But if we can’t… then there’s no reason for him to go on living,” Paige Summers said lightly.

Marcus Monroe nodded. “That’s for the best.”

Paige Summers gazed at her reflection and sighed. “I really miss Ann,” she said suddenly.

Marcus Monroe beckoned to her. As she drew near, he pulled her into his embrace. “Don’t worry,” he said. “He’ll be fine. And we’ll be home soon.”
