Chapter 529: Hijacking
Chapter 529 -372: Hijacking
Shawn Summers sometimes thought that fate must truly be on their side, which was why Paige Summers had come to them. Not only did she help everyone build the boat with incredible speed, but she even solved the problem of its power source.
Honestly, if not for her, he would have been at a complete loss as to where to find that much fuel…
As for Paige Summers, it was all thanks to her massive spatial storage and her excellent habit of collecting things.
Of course, this required some modifications to the boat’s original power system.
However, she had previously worked with Levi Young on using Crystal Cores to replace gasoline as a power source for cars, so modifying the boat wasn’t too difficult.
Once all the preparations were complete, they were ready to set off.
Paige Summers was their ultimate safety net.
With her around, they never had to worry about food, clothing, or other necessities.
The only thing they were a little short on was fresh water.
Fortunately, Morgan Summers was a Water Ability User, so that ceased to be a worry.
Morgan Summers was one of Paige’s five paternal uncles. Among the nine of them, five were of her father’s generation and four were her older cousins. However, even the cousins were older than her by more than a decade. Since none of them had any other family left, they might have called her Clan Leader out loud, but in their hearts, they all treated her like a daughter.
They treated Marcus Monroe very well, too.
It wasn’t just because he was a High-level Superpower User, but because he was Paige Summers’s husband.
He loved her dearly—that was obvious to everyone.
So, from the bottom of their hearts, they wanted to treat him well, offering him familial affection rather than the awe inspired by the difference in their power levels.
Marcus Monroe had some trouble adjusting at first.
For instance, when Third Uncle, Lance Summers, took a break from work to affectionately pat his shoulder and say, “Take it easy, don’t wear yourself out,” the concern in his expression left Marcus at a complete loss.
He had rarely ever experienced such care.
In his life up to that point, the only elders who had ever shown him that kind of genuine concern, if he were to count them, were his late mother and Black S.
But that bond was nowhere near as pure as the affection he received from the Summers.
Flustered as he was, he also felt a warmth spreading through his chest.
No one can go without the care of others, especially when it is offered with true sincerity.
As time went on, he slowly grew accustomed to it and gradually began to show genuine concern for them in return.
Paige Summers was delighted to see this.
Marcus Monroe was changing without even realizing it. He might not have been aware, but she could see it clearly.
He smiled more often, and he was no longer only relaxed when he was with her.
Now, even toward Shawn Summers, he carried himself with the awareness of an older brother.
‘It’s so wonderful that we were able to come here!’ Paige Summers thought.
The ship sailed leisurely across the surface of the sea.
This ship’s speed was, of course, incomparable to the small boat they had arrived in. The journey to Morindale Island should only take a little over a day.
Upon arrival, they once again docked at the small, secret harbor Shawn Summers had previously arranged.
However, a ship of this size was too large and would be easily discovered. Thus, the Shaman, who was now mostly recovered, used a Blinding Technique to temporarily prevent outsiders from seeing them or their vessel.
As for the final mission.
After some discussion, they decided that the others would stay behind while Paige Summers and Marcus Monroe would be responsible for retrieving Summers Twelve.
Everyone was still a little worried, but there was no one more suitable for the task than those two. And besides, they had to get Summers Twelve out.
For Paige Summers and Marcus Monroe, who both had excellent memories, this second trip was like treading a familiar path.
Disguised as before, they soon reached the vicinity of Summers Twelve’s residence.
But the situation on the island seemed anything but peaceful.
The patrols had increased.
Fewer people were out on the streets.
Even the taverns they passed were much quieter.
It was as if all the noisy crowds had suddenly vanished.
A tense atmosphere hung over everything.
Paige Summers and Marcus Monroe exchanged a look. Without a word, they both knew: this was definitely the fallout from the disappearance of Finn Sherman and Cameron Sherman!
Both of their hearts sank slightly.
If Summers Twelve had been taken to District R1 or R2, things would be much more difficult.
But they were both of the same mind.
No matter how difficult it was, this had to be done.
The pair slowly approached Summers Twelve’s residence. Before they even got close, they sensed something was amiss.
They couldn’t tell if anyone was in the house, but outside, Superpower Users skilled in Concealing Breath were lying in ambush—and there were quite a few of them, at least nine or ten.
They understood in an instant.
Their opponents were fishing.
And the fish they were waiting for… was them!
It was unclear how their opponents had guessed that the people who abducted the two Shermans were connected to Summers Twelve. Perhaps they were just taking a precaution, trying their luck. But for Paige and Marcus, now was not the time to walk into a trap.
