Chapter 533 -375: Shelter

The faint blue light covering the ship’s surface deflected the superpower attacks from the shore.

Cameron finally snapped out of his rage.

He sighed in defeat.

‘So it was no use after all…’

He had thought it was the work of Finn Sherman, but it was actually Rhonda Rhodes’s defensive shield.

But even though they were unharmed, Paige Summers wasn’t about to let the insult slide.

Conveniently, she still had some bombs left over. Once the ship was out of range of their enemies’ superpowers, she fearlessly began attaching bombs to her crossbow arrows, firing them one after another at Cameron and his squad.

From a distance, Paige Summers watched the billowing smoke and dust from the explosions and the figures sent flying, but she still snorted in dissatisfaction.

“Sooner or later, I’ll flatten this island!”

Beside her, Marcus Monroe smiled but said nothing.

They all knew this was no empty threat—it would just take some time to prepare.

The sea journey back to Astoria wasn’t particularly long. Before the apocalypse, it would have only taken a few days.

But things were different now, of course.

For one, their navigation equipment was nowhere near as good as it used to be. The Global Positioning System and the like were now relics of a bygone era. Their current system, while still a positioning system, wouldn’t sound an alarm if they strayed off course. Adjustments had to be made manually, making it semi-automatic at best.

Second, there were the Sea Beasts. Their presence forced them to take numerous detours.

Having spent all their time on land, this was the first time Paige Summers and Marcus Monroe had truly witnessed the “scenery” the sea had to offer.

The sheer variety of Sea Beasts, all evolved from fish, was dizzying, to say nothing of their immense size!

Just seeing one from a distance was enough to make your heart stop.

If one of those behemoths decided to flex its power and ram them, their ship would be smashed to pieces and everyone on board would perish.

Thankfully, such giants were not a common sight. After all, a certain balance exists in nature. Sea Beasts with such massive bodies had equally massive appetites, making it difficult for them to survive. Many starved, and those that remained became a rarity.

But rare didn’t mean they didn’t exist, which made their navigation route critically important.

They not only had to stay on course, but they also had to choose the right one.

A head-on encounter with one of those behemoths was to be avoided at all costs.

In this respect, no one could surpass Summers Twelve.

He didn’t just know the ship’s structure like the back of his hand; he was also well-versed in everything related to sailing, from ocean currents to Sea Beasts.

Even The Shaman, Rhonda Rhodes, and Finn Sherman were incredibly impressed by him. ‘No wonder the Lord of Morindale Island went to such lengths to keep him,’ they thought privately. ‘Who wouldn’t want a man with his talents? If he were to train a crew, they’d be on the fast track to ruling the seas!’

As the Patriarch of the Summers Clan, Paige Summers was so pleased she could have woken up from a dream laughing.

While she had no plans to rule the seas, she was absolutely set on flattening Morindale Island.

Therefore, Summers Twelve’s assistance was indispensable.

Of course, for Summers Twelve and the other members of the Summers Family, this was their single greatest life goal.

The biggest problem right now, however, was Summers Twelve’s health.

The other members of the Summers Family had also been grievously weakened, but thanks to Paige Summers’s various medicines and a steady supply of Crystal Cores, they were recovering their superpowers and their bodies were growing stronger. The improvement was visible to the naked eye.

All except for Summers Twelve.

He was fully aware that Paige Summers was medicating him, but he didn’t mind in the slightest. After what had happened with Sunny, he knew perfectly well that if Paige hadn’t arrived, the desperate schemes of his cousins and nephews would have been for naught. Their enemies had seen right through them, and they never would have gotten what they wanted. It was Paige’s sudden appearance that barely managed to level the playing field, allowing them to escape.

But no one could have expected that the “gift” a man named Yuan Ji had forced him to take would react badly with Paige’s medicine.

On several occasions, the combination of drugs nearly killed Summers Twelve.

Fortunately, Rhonda Rhodes was there to intervene, and his life was saved.

The effort took a heavy toll on Rhonda Rhodes; it was said she would need several years to fully recover.

This left The Shaman quite displeased.

However, Rhonda Rhodes insisted she had done it willingly, so he had no choice but to drop the matter.

Thus, Summers Twelve’s life was no longer in danger, but all that was left for him was a long, slow recovery.

In his condition, he couldn’t possibly oversee the entire voyage, so he had to train an apprentice. The obvious choice was Shawn Summers.

Shawn Summers was a natural, and Paige Summers also had high hopes for him.

As a result, she was extremely generous.

She gave him all the Crystal Cores they harvested from Sea Beasts, rewarding him for his dedicated studies.
