Chapter 122. Leaving Derulo City 1
Stars dotted the evening sky. The twin moons illuminated everywhere beneath them.
It was winter, but the evening was not too snowy.
Aiden and Desmonda came out of Aiden’s villa.
Aiden was dressed in a hoodie, sneakers, and jeans. Desmonda was dressed in a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers.
They both had affectionate smiles on their faces.
Two individuals were standing in front of Aiden’s villa.
Cosmo Adams and Pamela Ashira. They nodded politely towards Desmonda. She nodded back.
After that, they looked at Aiden.
"Your friends told us you were still around," Cosmo said.
"We wanted to take one last look at you. After all, the next time we may see you will probably be on television. After you do something shocking again," Pamela chuckled.
"Thanks, seniors," Aiden smiled.
"Please... we are all at the same level now. You don’t need to be so polite," Cosmo said.
"Yeah. I don’t think we will even be a match for you," Pamela said. She always knew that Aiden would become powerful quickly. But she had not anticipated that he would cause such an uproar. According to some sources, several powers had put large bounties on him, totalling about 6 trillion dollars.
Aiden shook his head. "There’s no need to exaggerate so much, Pamela."
Pamela and Cosmo knew he was just being civil. Aiden was confident in his power.
"Alright. The actual reason why we came here to see you off is because my old man told me to pass on a message to you," Pamela said.
Aiden and Desmonda were shocked.
Ashbourne Cane, AKA, the Old Fox. A legendary rank 3 warrior and the current Principal/Dean of Derulo City University.
What kind of message did he want to pass to Aiden, who he had not met before all of a sudden?
"My old man is called the Old Fox because he is very perceptive, not because of his terrifying combat prowess. He may be a legendary rank 3 warrior, but even some rank 4 warriors in the International Union respect him because of his investigative and perceptive nature," Pamela said.
"So, take what I’m saying seriously. He said to tell you that now that several powers have placed bounties on your head, don’t just focus on dealing with those threats. There could be a slight possibility that the Paranormal Liberation Order could also see you as a threat and want to get rid of you. He said he’s not so sure about it. But it’s just speculation on his part. However, he just can’t shake that feeling off. So, he felt I should let you know, since I’m acquainted with you."
A glint of realisation flashed through Aiden’s eyes.
This was something he had almost overlooked because in his opinion, the Paranormal Liberation Order was a threat that the International Union was currently struggling to deal with. Their location and headquarters had not even been found, and there were no leads about any of their members, even though it was obvious that their members were hiding in society. There was no way to identify who was a member and who was not. An organisation at that level was too dangerous to even think of small fry like him.
However, if Ashbourne Cane, an old monster with a lot of experience, who had seen so much in life, and had naturally developed perceptive instincts and sharp deductive capabilities had pointed it out, then it meant he had to look out for them too in the military.
It may have just been a speculation as Ashbourne Cane had said, and Aiden could just decide to brush it off. But he was not stupid. It was always better to be careful. He had to be on the lookout for them. He did not know how he would identify anyone who is a member of the Order. Also, he won’t waste his time trying to investigate them. Not even the International Union has any leads on them, so what could a small fry like him do? But what he could do was that he could grow stronger so that in case of any unforeseen attacks, he would be prepared to handle it.
A look of worry flashed through Desmonda’s eyes.
Aiden was walking into a lion’s den. This fueled her desire to become stronger. She was currently too weak to help him shoulder his burdens.
"It’s alright, Des," Aiden said. "I just need to be strong so that I can deal with any unforeseen threats."
"I know. But you still need to be careful," she said.
"I will," Aiden reassured her.
"Mmm," Desmonda replied.
Aiden turned to Pamela.
"Thank you, Pamela. Kindly pass on my message to the Principal that I’m grateful for bringing my attention to this. I won’t forget his kindness."
Aiden was not stupid. He knew the old man was not just giving him this advice from a place of care, or just because he was acquainted with Pamela. He was trying to secure a connection with Aiden because of Aiden’s potential. Aiden didn’t see the need to let this opportunity slip by.
He was well aware that he could only trust in his personal strength because of the path he walked. But he also didn’t see a problem with having connections with powerhouses who didn’t have ideologies that clashed with his own and didn’t want him dead if the opportunity arose.
Pamela’s gaze brightened.
Had someone else said that they won’t forget Ashbourne’s kindness, she would have not taken them seriously. What at all could they offer that old monster?
But Aiden Vhorn was different. If nothing untoward happened to him, it was only a matter of time before he became a legendary rank 4 warrior and stood at the peak of Endra.
So, Aiden stating that he would not forget Ashbourne Cane’s kindness meant that the old man had secured a connection to him.
"Alright. We will be leaving. Oh, and thank you for making us millionaires now," Pamela said.
"Yeah. That was a dope move." Cosmo gave Aiden a thumbs up.
"Don’t mention it," Aiden chuckled politely.
Cosmo and Pamela left as quickly as they came.
As they walked off, they conversed.
"I wonder how powerful he will be the next time we hear about him," Pamela said.
"I have a feeling that not only will he survive the threats ahead of him, he will use them as stepping stones to carve his legend across Endra," Cosmo sighed.
"Had you said that about someone else, I would have been surprised. But this is Aiden Vhorn we are talking about," Pamela said. "The fact even my old man wants to be acquainted with him goes a long way to show how terrifying he will become in the future."
****
Aiden turned to Desmonda.
"Ashbourne Cane, huh," Desmonda said. "That old man is said to be one of the best strategists of the Eldorath Empire. Even though he retired from being a military general several years ago after sustaining some battle injuries at the Frontlines, to be the Principal of Derulo City University, his tactical acumen is well known. He’s very perceptive. He definitely doesn’t know anything about The Paranormal Liberation Order. But he has years of experience. His instincts are sharp. Even his speculation cannot be overlooked."
"I know," Aiden nodded. "All the more reason why I can’t afford to relax in the military. The only way to deal with all the threats ahead of me is to be strong."
"Mmm," Desmonda said. "Let me escort you to the airport."
"Alright."
The duo walked out of campus.
The rest of Aiden’s friends and their parents were outside, waiting for him.
"What, you thought we’d just let you go to the airport without a proper goodbye? Hop in," Angela said.
Aiden and Desmonda joined them in the large van. It drove off.
