Chapter 121. Kiss
Aiden proceeded towards the counter.
The staff at the counter respectfully led him into an office. He finished his graduation procedures there.
"Mr. Vhorn, all your achievements and accomplishments as a warrior during your time as a student have been documented on your Warrior Profile, in the Global Warriors Association Database and in the Global Academic Federation Database. As for your campus watch, we will have to disconnect it from your Warriors account since you are no longer a university student.
"You have been deployed to the Frontlines, Base C322, effective immediately as a private. The departure time is tomorrow. An aircraft from the empire military will be present in Toothhill City University tomorrow to transfer university graduates deployed to Frontline Base C322, effective tomorrow at 7:00 AM. Kindly be there on time so that you don’t miss the flight. It’s an 11-hour flight from Toothhill City to the Frontlines."
Aiden nodded politely. "Thank you."
The woman replied warmly, "You are welcome, sir. Everyone in Derulo City is looking forward to your feats."
Aiden did not think much of what she said. He was walking his own path. He was not doing it for anyone, but he did not have to explain himself to anyone. He simply nodded to her politely, turned around, and left the office.
When he came out, he located his friends and left the graduation building with them. He returned to his villa on campus with them.
He informed them about his departure.
"That means you’ll be leaving this evening. Toothhill City is also a five-hour flight from Derulo City," Desmonda said. "The Frontlines are north of Eldorian State, the capital. It will be an eleven-hour flight from Toothhill City to the Frontlines."
"Exactly," Aiden replied. "If I don’t leave as soon as possible, I will miss the flight."
Everyone nodded as glints of determination flashed through their eyes.
"We will meet again in the military," Aiden said without mincing words. He was not praising them; he was simply being honest. "You guys are monsters. You will all become legendary rank 2 warriors soon anyway."
"We will," the group nodded.
"See you soon, man." Asmodeus and Luke gave Aiden a fist bump.
Seraphina and Candice gave him a hug.
"We will make sure Desmonda doesn’t flirt with other guys," Seraphina said.
"Yeah." Candice looked at Asmodeus. "I will make sure he doesn’t bully her."
"I’m right here, you know?" Desmonda rolled her eyes.
Everyone laughed.
"Kindly let your parents know that I’m leaving as soon as possible. Apologies to them on my behalf that I could not bid them goodbye in person," Aiden said.
"We will let them know. Stop acting like we won’t meet again, Aiden. We will join you in the military soon," Luke chuckled as he left with Asmodeus, Candice, and Seraphina.
They wanted to give Aiden and Desmonda some privacy. The duo had only just reunited, and suddenly, they were separating again. It was only natural they would want to spend some intimate time together before Aiden left.
"I’ll miss you the most." Aiden walked up to Desmonda and put his arms around her waist.
"I’ll miss you too," Desmonda looked into his eyes and said sweetly. She wrapped her hands around his shoulders.
Both felt extremely warm.
"I know you are a once-in-a-lifetime monster and trying to catch up to you is a fool’s dream. But I will do my best to become strong enough to stand by your side. Whatever it is, we will shoulder it together," Desmonda said with warmth, longing, love, and conviction in her eyes.
"I have no doubt about that, Des. But you should not put too much pressure on yourself for my sake. Cultivate at your own pace and become stronger at your own pace. You are not a burden to me. So don’t think that you are, okay?" Aiden replied. He meant every word.
"Mmm," Desmonda nodded. Her cheeks were literally red. She couldn’t imagine that the guy who could slaughter thousands of people without batting an eye was being this sweet to her.
Aiden was like a different person entirely when he was with her. This made her feel extremely special because he would never show this side of himself to someone else. Yes, Asmodeus and the others were his friends and they got to see his warm, ordinary side, but the intimate, romantic Aiden was hers.
"Just like the others said, we will join you at the Frontlines soo—" She didn’t even finish speaking when Aiden pulled her in for a kiss.
Her eyes were wide open. This was their first kiss. However, her gaze softened soon and she closed her eyes. She melted into the moment, her heart beating wildly.
Aiden softly pulled away several moments later. He held her chin up. Desmonda looked at him shyly.
"I am not the kind to waste time. But I am also not good with words when it comes to matters of the heart. So I’ll just say it as best I can. I am not doing this because I want to have fun," Aiden said. "I am with you because I love you and I want to be with you. It’s not just because I have feelings for you. It’s because our ideals align, and you are the kind of person I want to be with. Do you understand, and are we on the same page, Des?"
"I do. That’s exactly why I’m here, Aiden," Desmonda said. "I’m in this for the long haul."
"I expected you to say that. But I needed to hear it anyway. Assumptions are costly when it comes to love," Aiden said.
He was just about to talk again when Desmonda shut him up by kissing him. This time, their kiss was more intimate.
"Be bold and take the next step, Aiden", Desmonda said inwardly. Why was Aiden just kissing her?
Suddenly, her prayer was answered. Aiden held her in his arms and disappeared towards the bedroom.
The door shut behind them. It was obvious that for the next few hours, the walls of the room would suffer from some intimate action.
