Chapter 107. Village
Aiden eventually reached the underwater forest.
The blades of his crimson ultra great sword were very sharp. This made it very easy for him to cut through stems and clear a way forward.
Clad completely in his crimson battlesuit, he flapped his crimson wings forward, leaving trails of bubbles in his wake.
The moment the advanced rank 2 cheetah fish saw him, they made strange animalistic sounds and charged towards him.
They swiped their cheetah like paws forward, launching water arced blades towards him.
Aiden swung his crimson ultra great sword, causing air waves to spread across the place.
The water arced blades crushed into the ultra great sword. Rings of shockwaves rippled across. Some of the trees even shook.
The water arced blades were snuffed out. However, the force of the collision spread vibrations through the crimson great sword. The vibrations travelled into Aiden’s hands, generating a force that sent him hurtling backwards towards a tree.
He managed to flap his crimson wings and stabilize himself.
"Their attacks are very powerful. I need to go all out," Aiden thought.
He shot towards the approaching creatures.
Various water arced blades were hurtled his way, trailing ahead of gigantic claws.
Aiden spun and generated enough force. He swung his crimson greatsword towards the water arced blades. The crimson great sword snuffed out the water arced blades. The crimson great sword continued moving ahead.
A glint flashed through Aiden’s eyes.
He made several blobs of his blood separate from the crimson great swords. They turned into arced crimson blades.
The arced crimson crimson blades moved with swift speed. They sliced through the heads and paws of several cheetah fish, killing them.
Aiden absorbed their blood essence from his location.
Those who managed to block the arced crimson blades were not fortunate either because Aiden was already upon them. The crimson ultra great sword descended on them. Its sharp blades cleaved through them like butter. One of them made some weird sounds before it died.
Aiden, scanning across the place, saw a large horde of them approaching him.
Clearly, the one who made weird noises before it died, called the rest of the pack to avenge them.
The crimson arced blades turned into blobs of blood and merged with the ultra greatsword. More blobs of blood appeared and merged with the crimson ultra greatsword. The crimson ultra greatsword grew larger. Aiden willed the bladed edges to become more sharp and condensed. It was also heavier than before. But holding it was not a problem for him.
Instead of letting them come to him, Aiden absorbed the blood essence of those who died and headed towards them. According to his scan, they were somewhere deep in the forest.
Aiden moved deeper. He cut down several trees as he moved, opening a path ahead of him. The trees regrew behind him.
Very soon, he met the horde of advanced rank 2 cheetah fishes.
Before they could even launch attacks, Aiden swung his crimson ultra greatsword which blotted out everywhere. The crimson ultra greatsword came down on them. It met flesh, head, limbs, fins, and sliced through them. Body parts flew apart as the ocean depths turned crimson.
Aiden was moving like a maelstrom. The creatures were helpless. Their water arced blade attacks were powerful, but the greatsword obliterated their attacks, met their bodies and slaughtered them. Aiden absorbed the blood essence of the creatures as he killed them.
Having a blood essence absorption range of 500 meters was really helpful. He thought as he killed them. He became faster, stronger and deadlier.
Very soon, the deep dark void of the forest was painted crimson with blood and corpses.
Aiden scanned the region ahead of him. He noticed something that made him curious.
He could not see it clearly because his range of vision did not allow him to see beyond it.
He had to go deeper. The deeper he went into the oceanic forest, the more puzzled he became.
It was because of what he saw.
He saw huts beneath the ocean. The huts were in an open area. The open area didn’t have trees there like the other places in the forest.
"Rank 1 and rank 2 creatures are instinct driven creatures without a sentience right? How come there is a village here?" Aiden thought.
"Now that I think about it, the first pocket world I entered had rank 1 hobgoblins. They did not have sentience or intelligence.
But they most likely had a village/ organized community. I suppose it’s understandable. Even regular beasts like normal ants have colonies and a structured ecosystem. It’s only normal that non sentient chaotic beasts have instinctive survival systems too. They can still be non sentient and build these villages because it’s an instinctive survival and adaptatory trait," Aiden thought.
The creatures he saw from his scan in the village had blue skins and ears. Their upper bodies were humanoid. They had two limbs. Their lower bodies were fishlike.
"I’ve read about these creatures. Oceanic Grandas. Unlike Merfolk who are unique chaotic beasts found in some pocket worlds, oceanic Grandas are not unique chaotic beasts," Aiden thought.
"But they are very dangerous. Their use of water affinity is nothing to scoff at. Fortunately for me, the ones here are advanced rank 2 chaotic beasts so I can deal with them.. wait, what are they doing?"
Aiden saw from his scan that in the village, the oceanic Grandas seemed to be guarding something. What they were guarding was a giant egg with golden hues flashing across it.
At the same time, they were all prostrating before the golden egg.
"Shit..." Aiden cursed. "It’s evolving. One of the oceanic Grandas, possibly their leader, is evolving into something. If I don’t kill them now and kill whatever is evolving inside the egg, it may become extremely troublesome and kill me."
Aiden decided to kill the oceanic Grandas from a distance before he proceeded to kill whatever was in the egg. If he wasn’t careful and charged ahead recklessly and whatever was evolving inside the egg finished evolving when he was near it and came out, he won’t even have time to escape before he died. He decided to resort to assasination.
"Thankfully, they are in an open area and there are no trees ahead. Launching arrows to kill them will be easy," Aiden thought.
The crimson greatsword in his hand transformed into several large crimson arrows numbering hundreds and floated before him.
Aiden was currently hiding behind one of the forest trees that led into the village.
The crimson arrows shot towards the oceanic grandas, guarding the large egg and prostrating before it, in the village, with swift speed.
