Chapter 94. The Four Crime Lords
"Let....me.. go...and I’ll tell you..what you want.."
The woman spoke weakly.
This bastard was new to the city. She would just act humble and tell him what he needed to know. After he lets her off, she will remember him well. She will just spread rumors that he was new here. That would place targets on his back for all the pain he was currently causing her.
Aiden simply nodded at her words.
The tiny crimson threads released themselves from her neck and transformed into three crimson arrows.
One appeared a few millimetres to her neck. The other appeared a few millimetres away from her eyes. The last one was a few millimetres from her temple.
The woman was terrified as she looked into the crimson cold eyes of the fellow.
"Go ahead," Aiden said.
"Burning Sands City is run by four major crime Lords. However there are small crime gangs that also operate on their own. There are also individuals who refuse to join any crime organisations. These small gangs and individuals who refuse to join any crime organisations simply have to ensure they don’t do anything that goes against the rules the four crime lords came together to set for the operation of the city.
The rules of the city are simple.
First of all, you are free to kill anyone you want,for any reason you want. However, you cannot touch any member of the four major crime organizations in the city, run by each of the crime Lords.
If you do that...well... you’ll die for that. The members of the four crime organisations have initials of the name of the crime lord they serve on the back of their hand.
Another thing to note is that no one is obligated to close a gate or participate in stopping a chaotic beast tide. However, note that everyone in the city is a criminal who has nowhere else to go. If they allow the city to be overrun by chaotic beasts or gates, they will die. So during gate incidents and chaotic beast tides, almost everyone participates in dealing with the issue.
As for the four crime Lords, they rarely intervene in these situations themselves. Those operating under them are usually the ones to lead operations to deal with gate incidents and chaotic beast tides. They only step in if necessary.
I also have to warn that it’s better to find a gang to join than to be a loner. Operating alone will get you killed easily"
Aiden nodded with understanding.
However he didn’t plan on joining any gang. He was here to farm blood essence, not to join gangs.
"Who are the four crime lords and what are the names of their crime organisations?" Aiden asked.
The woman humbly gulped. She had planned on lying to the man before her about the rules in order to lead him to do something that will get him into trouble. However her gut told her that if she did that, he wouldn’t be stupid enough to fall for it.
This was why she had told him the truth from the beginning of the conversation till now.
"I’ll just spread rumors about him being new to this place. That will get him killed" She thought.
She answered his question.
"The four crime lords are Crime Lord Habakuk, Crime Lord Winston, Crime Lord Arabella and Crime Lord Sokolovia.
Their organizations are named after them. Crime Lord Habakuk rules the Western District, Crime Lord Winston rules the Eastern district, Crime Lord Arabella rules the southern district, and Crime Lord Sokolovia rules the Northern District.
Each one of them is a legendary rank 2 warrior. No one dares to cross them. All the major establishments like bars and hotels in the city are run by them. Of course, each of them is into serious drug and human trafficking too. As for the minor gangs, they do small-scale stuff like robbing those weaker than them for their money and properties. They are not on the level of the four crime bosses and their organisations. Another thing to note about the city is that if you kill someone, you can’t leave their corpse on the street. This is to prevent corpses from rotting and smelling so that the streets do not become uncomfortable to walk in"
Aiden nodded.
He now had a fair idea of this city. As for whether or not this woman had fed him wrong information, she may have tried to but decided against it in the end after weighing her options.
"Please... I’ve told you what you need to know..kindly let me go and I..."
Before she finished speaking, the three crimson arrows pierced through her neck, eyes and temple. She choked on her own blood.
"Is this guy really new to this city? How the hell did he see through my plan?" These were her last thoughts before she fell down on the ground and died.
The crimson arrows turned into blobs of blood and returned into him.
Aiden absorbed the blood essence of the corpse after that.
He kept the corpse in his storage bag and left the place.
"I should start with finding a place to stay for now"
Aiden thought.
"After that I will start the hunt"
Aiden moved into a main street.
"I’m telling you, they said it was like a crimson sword slaughtering people in the mountain range. I’m not going there till next week?"
"Seriously?. Don’t you think the rumors are exaggerated?"
"Exaggerated or not, it’s not worth it. Some of the gangs came back with their tails tucked between their legs. It means there is some truth to it"
"Well, that’s crazy. Let’s wait for a while before we return back to the mountain range. I really needed some money for my rent though"
"Heh, we can just kill some weak bastard and take their money. Why are you worried about me money?"
"You have a point"
"Well, look at that guy. He seems weak"
"Yeah, let’s kill him"
"Sure"
The group of three, presumably a small gang, having the discussion, walked towards Aiden’s direction.
