Chapter 79. Dense Desmonda
The creature’s mouth was slowly closing.
Everyone moved at breakneck speed.
"Instructor Pamela, manipulate gravity to slow down the closing of the creature’s mouth," Aiden said. "Instructor Henry, use your wind affinity to create a whirlwind that will propel everyone out of here. Everyone else should prepare for a coordinated assault in case of any emergency attacks when we leave the creature’s body. However, prioritise getting away from the creature when we leave its body as soon as possible," Aiden instructed.
"Roger." Everyone nodded.
Instructor Pamela rippled with strange light. She snapped her finger.
The descending mouth of the creature slowed down further.
Instructor Henry from Cosmere City University generated a whirlwind that swept everyone in it.
The whirlwind swept them out of the creature’s mouth.
Instructor Pamela stopped manipulating gravity.
The creature’s mouth snapped and closed as it kept sleeping.
It didn’t even register anything.
Everyone realised that had it not been for Aiden’s quick thinking, they would have been dead meat by now.
"A salamander," someone said. The colossal creature was a salamander.
This confirmed their thoughts. Salamanders dwelt in volcanic regions. This pocket world was influenced heavily by fire, arid and volcanic temperatures.
The group of 104 warriors was still in the whirlwind of Instructor Henry.
They eventually vacated the vicinity of the dreadful salamander.
As they travelled in the whirlwind, they realised they were currently in a very scorchy desert.
The skies were red. Occasionally, some sort of dark whirlwind would sweep across the sandy terrain and disappear.
Fortunately for them, the dark whirlwinds were not sweeping towards their direction.
"I’m out of energy. Everyone is on their own now," Henry said as he dropped on the desert ground.
He took a worldly energy recovery elixir and consumed it.
Everyone else dropped to the ground and panted. They all deactivated their affinities and decided to recover.
Well, except Aiden. However, everyone was too focused on personal recovery to even stare at him.
Still in his crimson armor with his daggers in hand, he scanned across the place. Aiden would never let his guard down. He could not die in this pocket world.
Eventually, everyone got some rest.
"We need to rest and continue the expedition tomorrow," an instructor said.
"That’s true. But we need a plan," a student replied.
"Yhep. Pocket world specialist, based on everything we have—" Pamela did not even finish speaking when the pocket world specialist cut her off.
"I honestly have no idea. We can only discover with time whether this is a special pocket world or not. For now, we can focus on killing chaotic beasts here while we try to look out for the factors that make a pocket world a special pocket world."
Everyone nodded.
Aiden found it logical too. This was the way forward.
"I’ve spotted an oasis in this desert. There are no creatures there. We can set up the tents there, rest for tonight and continue our journey tomorrow," Aiden said.
Everyone nodded. Aiden had proven himself. The group had nothing but respect for this young tactician.
The instructors found it surreal that experienced warriors as themselves were currently finding it easy to follow the directions of an advanced rank 1 warrior. As of now, no one had discovered yet that Aiden was an expert rank 1 warrior.
As for the students, those who had been skeptical about him earlier before they entered the pocket world had come to realize that based on everything he had demonstrated, the news about this guy had not been exaggerated.
He was a monster. His level of battlefield coordination and adaptability was off the charts.
They had not seen him actively engaged in combat yet. But they didn’t doubt his rumored combat prowess anymore.
Even Henrich, who wanted to kill Aiden, had to realize that Aiden Vhorn was special.
"I need to find an opportunity to act." Henrich turned to look at Rexilia. " Just as I suspected, she’s developing feelings for him. If he’s out of the picture, the engagement won’t be compromised, and the mergers between our families won’t be cancelled "
Rexilia was stealing glances at Aiden.
In fact, several ladies among the students were stealing glances at him as the group moved towards the oasis, following the scout, Aiden’s lead.
"Why am I getting angry for no reason?" Desmonda thought when she saw the way the other ladies were looking at Aiden.
"Having some mood swings, dear?" Seraphina said to her. "That time of the month?"
"You..." Desmonda shook her head.
"Yeah. It must be mood swings. Yeah. It’s not that time of the month, but it must be mood swings," she convinced herself inwardly.
Glints flashed through the eyes of Asmodeus, Luke, Candice, and Seraphina.
"Keep deceiving yourself," they smirked in thought.
As for Aiden, he was busy scouting the terrain as they moved.
"You think I should try and shoot my shot with him?"
"Not in here. We are in a pocket world! Why don’t you try after we leave? If we even manage to leave? The first team died after all."
"Stop being so persimistic. We will leave."
Some ladies walking right behind Desmonda said.
The more they talked about asking Aiden out, the more she got pissed for no reason.
But she still blamed it on mood swings.
Her friends noticed her fluctuating facial expressions. She was still in denial, huh.
What a dense person.
As for Aiden, he was ahead with the instructors. He didn’t even notice what was happening.
"I should initiate the plan when we set up the tents," Aiden thought.
Eventually, the group arrived at the oasis.
Just as Aiden said, there were no threats here.
They eventually passed through the trees and arrived in an open grassy area.
Everyone took mobile looking devices and pressed them.
The mobile looking devices opened and arranged themselves into several tents.
After that, several people entered their tent to rest. Some instructors were, however, on guard duty for any unforeseen threats.
Aiden was currently in his tent at the moment.
Desmonda and the others were currently in his tent at the moment, chatting and having casual conversations.
They said they wanted to be with him so that in case Henrich tried to do anything stupid, they could report him to an instructor before he tried to do anything to Aiden.
Aiden sincerely thanked them for that.
After that, he decided to initiate his plan.
"Time to get to work," he thought.
The inhibition removal poison in a vial appeared before him.
