Ashes and Kingdoms

1-7. Seeds of Hope

Captain, as he opened the door calling, Masud looked up as he sluggishly sank himself into the chair. The same horrible thin blue eyes I saw the first time I peeked at the castle gate. That made it tough as if I admitted or no to what Finn looked like or even found a pest. One sigh of fed up flair, then the lid slows down.

"... have you come back to life"

small, crushed dialogue in his mouth, but Finn did listen. Frowning and asking with an expression what it means. Masud stretched out and stood up at the same time as he waved his raised hand down vigorously.

"If he died like that, it would have helped. I don't know what's wrong with you."

Blurring, he turned around the edge of his desk and stood in front of Finn, showing him his trick.

"So, what? You want to get out of here, start some kind of dream story plan, or you want to mention it at a wedding?

"Wedding?"

Unexpectedly Finn listened back in a feisty voice, Masud clapped his shoulder as if it didn't seem funny.

"There are those guys. I thought one day you suddenly jumped in on the” resurrected ”side, said I found a woman who deserved to risk her life, and even in this day and age, I blossomed a pile of flowers in my head to perform the ceremony. Half a month after that, he died."

…………

Seeing Finn's expression clouded, Masud narrowed his eyes funny. Those are the eyes that wait for Finn to turn back to the grave again amazing. When he realized that was the case, Finn raised his jaw and put his strength into his losing and eyes. Masud was openly discouraged, but Finn didn't mind. I have no in-laws to please you.

"I didn't come here for that. I just wanted to go to the temple, so I came to get permission to go out."

"Temple? What, a divine favor? Or was it also a message from the noble Deia or Mother Audia? I'm telling you, if you're planning on scratching the whole town, you'd better give up early."

"Scratch around?

"Don't give them bad hope or purpose."

Finn's head took a long time to understand what was said. When I finally understand it, the next time I can't believe that fact and the words catch my throat.

"Why... you," he said, shaking his head loosely. "You're one of those people who says," Live. "And yet, why would you say that?

Forgetting to use polite language too, he stared stunnedly at Masud.

Now I know. This man is not invaded by that apathetic bluntness. You know that there is no hope as it is, and that eventually the status quo will be broken and the end will come. And yet, why don't you do anything?

"We also need a living person to put the dead together. Rather than say," Masud did. "Dead people, so I can hang around here. What can you do? When you let go, you're going to let the people who stay half asleep, who feel no pain, who die quietly, wake up thankfully to the concierge, and then you're going to make a noise and push each other in an enclosure where there's no escape? You think they appreciate that?

"You have to try to figure it out!

Finn turns back unexpectedly. Masud responded with a cold smile. You're childish, he said.

(No, we have to talk about specifics. It's just appropriate.)

Finn chewed his lips and took a deep breath to calm his mind and slowly told him what he wasn't going to say.

"... If we keep this up, we won't get food any time soon. So inside the wall, I thought I could grow some wheat or beans. If there's a harvest, I'm sure we'll all regain hope again."

"Who guards that field, fool?"

Masud shouted and raised his voice. Even now, the distribution of food is accompanied by dangerous air. Citizens are starving, desolate, and, if there are gaps, depriving others of their belongings. If we plow the fields indefensibly, etc., the soil will be dug back without waiting for fruit, and it will be a seed or bean takeover. That was easy for Finn to imagine, too.

"So I ask Master Fianella. If you're a temple, you don't have to worry about being easily vandalized... first, it would be about there with extra land. Now the city is full of people everywhere."

…………

Masud put his arms together, exhaled, and made a difficult face. Stay silent for a while and think only rarely. Finn swallowed his solitude and waited for a reply.

"Okay," Masud said abruptly. "Go on. I can't get the guards out, but tell them we'll accommodate the seeds and farm tools we need."

"Ha!"

Answered with surprise and prestige, Finn already ran out quickly.

As he left like a whirlwind, the remaining masd sighed out loud.

"Oh man...... should I refill it again? As soon as I thought I could use the corners, I had trouble."

Blurring, he squirts around on his messy desk and digs out parchment and pen. When he sat in his chair, he put his pen tip on the ink kettle, recalling when he had written this letter before. And I smile sarcastically.

"Hope at best."

In time, you won't get this ink either. Considering that, it might even have been good luck for those who “come back to life” to show up while there was still black liquid in the pot. The later we get, the less we can do where we regain our strength.

Masud began to repeat the text he once wrote over and over again, with a gloomy bitter grin.

Lord Dilgius, Commander of the Eighth Regiment of the Garrison of Winnea, from Masud, Commander of the Seventeenth Regiment of the Garrison of Nanais -

Finn, meanwhile, continued to run to the temple unexpectedly, such as his boss's morsel. Nowadays, long slopes and endless stairs are not as bitter either.

"Dear Fianella!

To the brightness of the invoked voice, the priestess turned her eyes round.

"What's the matter, Phineas? It's like we're going to a festival."

"Ah... sorry, that's a little too floating"

Finn apologized in the light and scratched his head. but immediately momentum starts talking.

"I came up with a plan. Captain Masud also gave me permission. Actually..."

He was whispering his voice as hard as he could to keep it out of the ears of others, but still sometimes he gets too excited and gestures louder. Fianella, who at first was taken aback, also gradually spread her smile, "What do you think?" When Finn closed with an inquiry, he put his hand on his mouth and laughed.

"Oh well."

Anyway, that's all I said first, and Fianella managed to pull in a grin that stirred up. Finn looks anxious about the reaction. He looks like a dog leaning down his neck and gazing at his husband's complexion. Fianella laughed again at her association and rushed to fix her expression. It's not too bad to make fun of boys these days.

"I knew you were brothers and sisters"

"Huh?"

"We're just talking here," hissed Fianella. "Nellis also said he tried sowing melon seeds in the garden of Mr. Kunad's house. It's surrounded by walls, so tell me you don't have to worry about finding it from the outside. I wish I could grow it properly."

"Nellis..., yes, Dear Fianella, Nellis has met you, hasn't he? Was it the same as before? You're living safely in Mr. Kunad's house, aren't you?

Ask me back. Fianella smiled gently and nodded.

"Yeah, so far, he seems to be managing without setbacks. If you have time, go check on him on his way home. I was so anxious to never see her again."

"... Yes"

Finn snorted. What a thin feeling I am to have left my mind to dull about myself and forgotten about my important family - so blaming myself and biting my lips.

Fianella gently slapped Finn on the shoulder to encourage him.

"I think your plan is a very good idea. If the captain is going to cooperate, he might make it. Although we must do something to avoid being vandalized, because in the temple we really touch people… let's talk about it."

Unfortunately, with that said, Fianella laid her eyes down. It is the exact opposite of, for example, getting rid of the wounded and hungry, given the original role of the Temple. But right now, if we don't, we can't really help them.

"Please"

Finn considered her grid and bowed her head sincerely.

"Please tell me anything I can do. I'll help you as long as I can."

Whatever Masud said, Finn was going to. But Fianella smiled lightly at his determination.

"Thank you. Your sincerity is above all an encouragement. Come on, let's go. I will see you soon... but may Audia bless you."

……

Finn frowned, but Fianella didn't tell me any more. Remembering the first night on duty, Finn disturbs his chest anxiously. But this time, Fianella's expression was calm. Maybe it just means we'll have another meeting about this plan, to the extent.

Whatever meaning is hidden in that word, you will soon find out. When Finn broke it off so, he lowered his head again with a pepper and ran down the ramp.

Running down the street trying to get to Kunad's house as it was, I was unluckily spotted by a fellow soldier.

"Whoa, in a good place. Hey, Finn, give me a hand, too!

Apparently, he was coming to the blacksmith to pick up the weapons he was putting out to repair. Looks heavy. I was in the middle of loading this into my luggage. Of course it's people, not robbers, who pull cars. And Finn, even though he has somehow come to be recognized as a servant, is still at the bottom of the line in his position.

There was no way he could say no, and Finn reluctantly joined the effort.
