Ashes and Kingdoms

4-4. Again, Into the Dark

"Oh, oh, why am I such a pain in the ass!!

Finally, long live Valt as he summons, flipping every chair and hitting the wall behind him with a gotun. Numerous wax plates spread out on the desk left traces of calculations that had been redone many times.

With old friends scattered with unintelligible roars and cursing, Plast is silently cleaning up his work. Valt didn't get to deal with him, and he got a stubborn tone.

"I'm not for this kind of detail, you know, do my share."

"Say no. Work your pay."

"Is it my job until I calculate someone else's salary? When you were in the Legion, it was just work reports, and the guy in accounting did all the gold accounts!

"Then you tell Phineas you want to go back to Winnea and return to the Eighth Legion."

…………

Valt gets stuck and shuts up for a terrific reward. Back in the legions, work could be simpler and easier than it is now. but once I got away from the legions and tasted my freedom, now I wasn't sure I could go back to the ancient nest and do it. First, it is not known how the ancient nest is degenerating.

With regret, Valt hit eight against Oandus across the street.

"Do the gold account in the powder shop. I know you're good at it."

"Hate, you weren't big enough to hire an employee. If I let you calculate my salary, you might make a terrible mistake."

Oandus was sick and tired of responding to his feelings, then looked sorry for him and added:

"You just don't have to procure and pay for food and groceries. Think about it."

"Fuck you. By and large, we are not a regular army, so the food and beds are sufficient, the salary is fine, and the crew will be willing to do it. Huh?"

"Then you have to set the example first, Captain."

The more we talk, the more we dig into the grave, Valt. Not to mention, the Plast I saw advised.

"Shut up and do your job"

Rather, it may have just covered the last soil, but anyway, Valt became quiet.

Stay calm on the com squirrel for more than ten days. The ranks of the Tenryu squad had doubled before, simply because of the number of warriors. The number of people involved is more than that. When they were all a group of willing fugitives, salaries and other appropriate things, but they should not be done the same way anymore.

That's why Valt was complaining by now.

While they were stuck in their rooms and struggling badly with their number opponents, Islev was touring the city, calling it an investigation, and collecting funds. I am not noble when I say Tenryu Hou, so I have no income to enter from the territory. Therefore, the funds for the activities will either undertake the work or solicit donations.

Earnings from cluttered work were hardly expected because of the recession today, but money and things still seemed to be there in some places, with poorly pooled donations and assistance from the wealthy.

Meanwhile, Finn, who arrived late at Comlis, was soon on his way to the army barracks stationed north of town. information gathering and to obtain Northbound cooperation.

The commander was the 10th Legion Commander, but the response was polite because of the many soldiers he felt helped by Finn. He was also happy to respond to my request to be added to the night guard.

"I'd rather have it from here, Lord Dragon Hou Phineas"

Unexpectedly thrilled and frightened of Finn, Mac snuck Finn in with his elbow as he laughed beside him.

"Please don't call me that. I'm just..."

"Son of a miller, is it? No, excuse me. Sure, I'm surprised you didn't come. I didn't know His Excellency the Dragon Hou, whom the soldiers worship, was a young man who came to me now. But whether you're a powderer or a dragon marquis, it doesn't make any difference that you're our benefactor. Come on in. Specifically, where can I get you protection? Sure, there's a dozen of them right now."

"Right. Citizens have given me quite a few volunteers, but I've been discharged for a long time, or have no experience at all... that's about all I can get out of here right tonight"

"May I ask for this fifth compartment, please?"

What the Legion Leader showed on the map was near the farmers the Fins helped harvest last fall. Finn nods, I know it there, I answer.

"We're going to stay and see how things go for a while tonight, and let the dragon's power go as far as possible without using it. Tell that to the other soldiers and be careful not to fail to defend as usual."

"Why?

As the Legion Chief gave him a more suspicious look than dissatisfaction, Finn sorted out his thoughts a little before answering them carefully.

"The beast of darkness - no, the family of darkness, is not the beast. Instead of just attacking the dark clouds and eating them up, something seems to be moving with their own minds. There you go, but if you show the strength of the dragon as a shield, you can't predict what kind of backlash will come."

"But if you want to get rid of them..."

"Indeed, we will have to use the power of dragons. But even though it is a dragon, it cannot erase all darkness from the earth. Just as the other person can't turn off all the light. Anyway, if you poorly stimulate them to cause massive attacks, there's no way to counter them here. Now we just have to light the lights in front of the darkness, just like the Sardas do in the mountains, and let them share their place."

"The soldiers will be disappointed."

"Yeah, maybe. But I can't help it. I didn't come back to this town to meet my expectations."

"I see."

When the Legion Leader nodded in a lucid and convincing manner, he informed him of the meeting place and time, and I'll see you later, and sent Finn out.

Slowly the air takes on a honey color, and the vineyards just for the spreads sink abundantly into it. The thick light softens, sucking up the warmth left in the soil and returning to the sky.

Walt trembled as he stroked his neck in a cold breeze.

"I hate it when it's been a while, this feeling"

I crushed to no one and looked up to the sky. Just then Finn came down with the white dragon. Looks like I'm totally used to flying now, and the trick of getting off Lena's back is what went into the hall.

Dear Dragon Hou, and before Valt had complicated thoughts, Finn looked around together and opened his teasing mouth.

"One for each compartment, I've focused only a little bit of Lena's power on the bonfire. The beast of darkness should look to the extent blessed by the priest of Deia. I just can't hide that I'm here when Lena disappears. Give me your weapon."

I sensed what he was going to say, and Mac pulled out his own sword. It used to belong to Igross, that sword. Valt's men pull out their swords as well, surprised by what happened. Faster than Finn explains, Mac clapped his shoulders and said.

"My brother is popular. Only here is that the beast of darkness may push against you. So we have to be able to fight with a weapon protected by light."

One weapon after another is given as if it were a little. The twin brothers looked at each other and behaved,

"If it was a girl pushing me"

"I'd be happy to deal with you instead."

Hey, I kept my voice together. The plast is frightening, and you sigh at how much women shake you during the day and it's still not enough. Finn laughed bitterly, touching everyone's weapons in turn. Through the body, the power of Lena becomes white light from the fingertips.

Mac stared at the glowing blade and finally put it in his sheath.

"They'll look as bright as a lighthouse here in their eyes."

Or like a tavern that opens late at night, and the twins tear up again. Valt snapped its head and assigned the order of watch.

The sky is dyed blue, and when you notice it, your vision narrows to a limited range of light. No longer light-hearted, the crew all turned into the faces of warriors who had been through many nights. Those who shut up and twirl in the blanket, those who set up their weapons and look to the darkness, those who softly put firewood on the bonfire.

Finn stood with the light on his back and confronted the darkness.

That's weird. I feel like the darkness was darker when I was in the mountains.

"Right. Sure, it's dark here, but Master Narug's power isn't that strong. Although there are many Dark Families, it was different then.

Finn was frightened for a moment in response to Lena's reply and let herself be frightened. And spill a bitter laugh. The sensory deviation seems the same. It's like talking about wildcats. They say, "There's a lot of them," etc.

Although Lena showed signs of surprise at Finn's reaction, she did not ask what was wrong.

- In the darkness, a little blue light was floating.

"You're here."

Plast confirms pale behind the fin and sets the bow. The others, as usual, were a little distant and on guard.

xyxy, crunchy......

A pointy thing scratches the soil. The scrubbing sound of a kachikachi and a hard shell is as if an army soldier in armor were walking around. But in the dark, it's not pine, it's not spear, it's blue phosphorescence.

Cold air crawls up from my feet. Finn pulled out his sword and set himself up for the attack.

Lulululululu......

A low, slight roar echoes there. Relative humans waited to keep their breathing shallow and quiet to reduce tension and excitement and keep their sights out of the white vapor.

Without a foretaste, the invisible wing struck the sky. The sound of heavy wings is followed by many footsteps that kick across the ground to progression.

Finn shrugged away the giant bat that jumped out of the darkness without even raising his temper voice. Plast's arrow blurs right next to him, bouncing the unidentified beast back into the darkness. Even from the left and right bonfires, I heard the sound of battle.

I wondered if the attack would continue as in Nanais, how the blue light dots wobbled and retreated as the waves pulled. Finn runs his eyes in surprise and caution.

Big one light point flashes. And when the little flock of light was gone, it was lit.

"Are they surprised?

Plast whispers in a whisper. Finn glimpsed his sword, depending on what he didn't know. Fairendain. The sword of the goddess Fellinim. Do they, the family of darkness, remember the sword that Dragon Hou once waved in this northern land?

Then the matter of the sang, something that was going to strike me mad - and as soon as Finn thought of it that way, the roar shook the darkness as if to respond.

"Ugh!

With frozen hatred and despair slammed, Finn groans and takes half a step back. Plast came down behind me, nearly knocking down the bonfire platform.

Soon after he regains his posture, several beasts strike as lumps of darkness. Finn was obsessed, but waved his sword with prayer for each blow.

Fellinim the Goddess, if you will still give me strength in this sword.

A beast resembling a bear slits his throat by a sword, while still swinging his sharp nails down Finn's shoulder. Finn shook it off in a dreadful spot and pounded in a stubborn blow.

(Let hatred be distracted, cleansed, and at least let no more grievances be solicited)

If the more you defeat it, the more hatred of your dead family accumulates in the darkness, the sooner or later that mountain will collapse over men and destroy and bury everything. Then there is no point in fighting like this now.

(Lady Deia, Lady Narug, have mercy on us and them)

It shouldn't be each other's destiny to keep fighting endlessly.

Finn sweeps through successive storms of fangs and nails that strike him, slaughtering him as one, and as one. I have no idea.

"Damn it!

Finally he threw away the curse and Finn drew out the light that was within himself all at once.

The moment, the light burst, bouncing off all the darkness that swarmed.

Was the sound similar to thunder emitted a light or a scream raised by the beast? When the aftertaste disappeared with trembling, the wall of light also faded softly and became invisible.

"... Ha, ha..."

While breathing on his shoulders, Finn doesn't break his guard. But the darkness in front of me was no longer just darkness. A uniform darkness at the top.

After a while, the blue light lit up all the way far away. Then another one, two.

(Please, don't come anymore)

Finn pleaded silently to a crowd of light to stare at this one. I'd still rather fight humans. Fighting the Dark Families drains the spirit badly. We don't have a future anymore, we want to end everything, a bottomless marsh of despair - like fighting on the edge as thin as a foot's width at its Seto.

Did Finn's wish go through, the blue light didn't show any closer. Going out of my way, wandering around, slowly disappearing one by one.

"Thanks..."

Finn exhaled loudly and sat down on the spot with a sledge. Traces of darkness scratched on arms and feet are slightly paralyzed.

Blurred as it was, things went up in the distance and sometimes, as I recall. Plast spoke for Finn, who looked at you blurry.

"Apparently, you're the only one who's been attacked intensively. Very popular."

"Don't stand out like a lighthouse, I can't help it."

"One of these days, I hope he learns to avoid you."

"... what do you think"

I couldn't think of anything and Finn sighed in response appropriately.

and a soft warmth touched my tired body and body. I don't see him, but I can see Lena wrapped him up. Finn couldn't resist and quickly sank into a comfortable sleep.

Just before I let go of consciousness, I was going to ask Plast to "take turns watching" but I no longer knew if I had become a voice.
