Ashes and Kingdoms

6-1. Spring Visit

Chapter Six

When still patterns appear in the mountains that were white, the flatlands are overflowing with snowmelting water. The water volume of the Pol River increases and turbidity runs to low wetlands on the Vertier side. Green grass sprouting one after the other on wet earth, little flowers laughing like they couldn't wait.

It wasn't until such a season that the Tenryu team left Winnea.

Nightly raids decreased, the iron rule of 'Don't hate the Dark Beast, don't scorn' pervaded the legion soldiers, and promises of cooperation were also attached by the priests of each temple. The slight calming of the situation that was making Ancius angry also loosens the severe restrictions on civil life and the city is enlivened. It would also make Islev's work easier.

So sure, Finn finally made up his mind to head north. By then, the faces of the troops had also decided to take their respective departures.

"Well, then, here's a goodbye."

When Finn offered his hand, Valt looked complicated and returned a rough and short handshake.

"Not for a while. When Vertier's done, I'll turn to Nanais."

When he let go of his hand, some of the people by his side shook hands with Finn one after another. Some of the crew since Tetna and most of the crew coming in from Comrith decided to head with Valt to Vertier. A platoon is also dispatched from the Eighth Regiment.

Vertia was originally a city in the wetlands of the estuary, which had to be buried in the mud thanks to the drainage work carried out by old legion soldiers. Now that the inhabitants are gone, if left alone, they will be vandalized by the beast, eroded by grass and sand, and rendered useless as a port of call.

Shipping is indispensable to rebuild northern towns other than Winnea, and in order to do so we must first secure Vertier. That's what Valt said, and he caught manpower and tools from Ancius.

Be careful, Captain Valt.

Islev and Ansius were also here to drop them off. When Valt salutes the commander, he leads his new men and sets off west on the street. One of the priests of the Temple of Audia followed them in a pompous manner, spanning Roba from after them.

"Well, we're leaving, too."

Finn looked around at the rest of his people and grinned. Plast and cheerful twins, plus Mac and Finn's family. That was all. The crew members who decide not to go north or west are to remain in Winnea and continue to engage in defense and street repairs.

"Are you sure you don't need manpower?"

Islev frowned and pressed caution. He is also to remain in Winnea and work on fiscal reconstruction in the north. Finn answered brightly.

"Yep. There's no walls or anything ahead of us from here, so we can't protect them back if they're too large. I'll get to Nanais safely and let you know when I'm ready to call people. By then, Lord Islev will be recruiting people from among the inhabitants of Winnea who want to move to Nanais and Tetna so that they can help us in some way."

"As for you, leave it to me. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot your daughter had a goodbye."

Islev punched Pong in the hand and took the mess out of his jacket cover. When he was invited and Nellis approached him surprised, Islev sneered and offered him one decorative pin. It's a light, small, poor design that can be fastened to short hair. When Nellis rounded his eyes, Islev did not give him a gap of resignation, and he fastened him to her hair from hand to hand.

"It's like forgetting the moisture in your heart because you'll be slaughtering ahead of you. I thought of something to Lord Fauna, but I did not want the jewellery in front of Lord Oandus. It doesn't taste good, but I'm letting it sneak into my luggage. Find it later."

Oh well, and Fauna lifts her voice of surprise and looks at her husband in a meaningful way. Nellis looked embarrassed and thanked him with a dear voice. Finn looked at it with joy,

"Good for you, Nellis. Lord Islev, thank you for your attention."

When I lowered my head with a dust, I turned to Ancius and saluted him.

"Then, Commander, we're done here."

"Uhm.... when Nanais settles down, come back here too"

It wasn't a greeting, it was a true voice. Finn nodded and walked out in the lead as he gently turned his heel back.

Since the number of people had decreased, the repair of the streets was kept within a very easy range. Anyway, there's no such thing as a house. After people and carriages come and go, you just have to do a decent job.

After walking silently for a while, Fumi Mac spilled a bitter laugh.

"I miss Mr. Valt's poisonous tongue when he can't hear it for a while."

"Really?" Finn blushed deliberately. "As far as I'm concerned, I'd at least like to fix Nellis' language in this gap."

"Extra help! What, you said you'd like to be fine?"

"Except you're fine and your words are dirty. Because Lord Islev gave me a lovely hair ornament."

"Mr. Islev is carefree, isn't he? I guess it's because I've lived in the capital for a long time."

You were swelling, and Nellis was in a good mood. Finn and Mac accidentally looked at each other and laughed bitterly.

Walk steadily north even during other loving interactions.

With nothing happening, the sun tilted and the area began to stain with dusk. Just about that time, the wreckage of the decaying inn station appeared on the way.

This cabin is built to cover a day's journey and only rain storms. Three days, or about five days apart, there was a decent inn where I could eat, but now there would be no more shadows to see.

While the fins had the rest of the sunset, they repaired the cabin as much as they could, collected dry dead grass and laid it on the floor. Connect the two robbers outside, and I'll unload them. Lena appeared fluffy, all shaped, and helped with chores.

While preparing the meal, Fauna leaked a pompous word, "I remember you," he said. Several nodded small, but no one kept talking.

I remember, but I don't remember nostalgic. The journey made me hungry, dirty with blood and mud, and dragged my tired legs.

The twins spoke to the silent Finns.

"There are quite a few things from Nanais to Winnea."

"It's tough to just go normally."

"Phineas did a great job."

"Oh, my God."

"I never got out of Winnea."

Yeah, yeah, Plast turns to the twins who nod at each other.

"Stop talking that way. I know you can talk properly, one at a time."

The twins stepped aside, clapped their necks, and a laugh spilled over the place.

"Speaking of which," says Nellis. "I still can't tell between the two of you, do you have any tricks?

"Either way."

The twins who answered at the same time said, "You can't do that," said Nellis. The twins looked at each other,

"For once, Ewarez was my brother."

"Eugenis is my brother."

There was no other difference, and I just flashed my shoulders. Finn watched the interaction, but pinched his mouth casually because Nellis couldn't give any answers.

"You're Ewares to the right. Eugenis is left, yes, it's you."

"Why?"

"You got it?

To the two surprised and rounded his eyes, Finn did not answer just in a hurry. Pull up the lid of the pan and pretend to check the contents. By the way, that pot is brand new that Islev gave me apart.

Nellis pointed his mouth "shrugged" at his brother just to mystify him.

"After all, too, because it's Dragon Hou? Hey, can Lena tell the difference between those two, too?

Suddenly he talks to me, and Lena, who was preparing the dishes, makes me squeeze my eyes. Once again, she bowed her twins and looked at them, tilting her neck slightly.

"I don't really get it. 'Cause I'm sure it's different, but I don't always distinguish which one."

Finn finally swept up. He laughs and looks back, "It's shoes," he says, pointing to the twins' feet.

"During the day, one would have stuck it in the mud. At that time, I heard my brother say something blunt. That's all."

They seed it and the twins look down at each other's shoes. What, Nellis laughed bitterly.

"Right. Whatever it is, it doesn't mean it's Dragon Marquis."

"That's the thing. Oops... Auntie, it's boiled."

"I'll bake this one up, too. That's it, all the time."

Fauna, who was making thin-baked bread in a lying round pan, snaps her earlobes, like, oh. The luggage also contains hard-baked bread, but it must be kept for when the rain prevents it from starting a fire.

"That's fantastic."

Mac received his vessel and said happily. Even in the same wilderness, it's very different from when we were heading from Tetna to Winnea. We have enough food, we have the power to retreat the beast of darkness, and everyone's heart is bright and hopeful.

To where the darkness once chased us and fled, now we go to light the light. Even if it is only a weak and slight light.
