Chapter 127: God?
The odd creature radiated near the motionless body of the Chief. It seemed unbothered.
A sort of liquid poured out of the Chief, piling up around his upper back. With his night vision activated, everything within Jimmy’s line of sight adapted a shade of green.
The liquid around the Chief was dark green. He recalled seeing something like it before, only once.
"Blood?" He mumbled.
A second later, as he floated in place, he heard a buzz, a flutter.
Virena appeared in front of him, and on top of her head, a Fire Sphere was developing!
Below him, he saw Vorin heading towards the ground. He could hear his brother struggle, and from the looks of it, he had broken his wing, because he was struggling to stay afloat.
Jimmy rushed towards his brother, and summoned the only thing he could summon in this situation. He had to prioritize, because in the depths of this madness, an immobile crow was a dead crow.
"I knew I heard a bone crack," He rushed through his words.
Jimmy reached his brother, and summoned the Helping Hand skill. A dark mist absorbed Vorin as if it tried to suck the life out of him, but its effect was the exact opposite of harm.

Within a second, the mist disappeared, and Vorin regained his composure ten feet before he could’ve hit the ground. His wings stretched, and flapped, regaining a sort of flexibility that would make one think he never broke his wing at all.
The moment Vorin flapped his wings once, the Fire Sphere that Virena had summoned, was a single foot away from the odd entity that stood in front of the motionless body of the Chief.
Unlike the two crows, she was on an unapologetic hunt. Everything unfamiliar was within her sphere of tangible targets.
If she saw an ant, she’d send it to the depths of hell as well.
Her Fire Sphere connected. She hit the creature, and then, they heard it scream!
Reee!
A deep, guttural pitch came out of the creature. It triggered a sense of Déjà Vu. It forced Jimmy to remember the fact that he used to like listening to metal music back in his past life, when he was a human.
He couldn’t think of anything more metal than a praying mantis hunting, and hurting a god-like creature.
"So fire does hurt it..." He said, watching his friend in awe. "Hell yeah! Kill it!"
Naturally, he didn’t want to let Virena do all the heavy lifting. His Mana Pool was barely spent, and he didn’t care if he spent it all tonight, because he knew for a fact that Virena would have his back, he saw a live reminder of it. Her mana pool didn’t run out so easily.
"Blue Fireball!" He shouted, like a schizophrenic magus.
[-200 mana points]
[Remaining pool: 1,300 points]
"Again!" He kept on shouting, "Blue Fireball! Hahahaha!"
[-200 mana points]
[Remaining pool: 1,100 points]
Skreee!
The creature they shot at didn’t spurt out any inkling of blood. Jimmy couldn’t spot any bloody wounds, at least, but he took great motivation from the fact that he could actually hurt it.
Typically, the sick, twisted, and the insane fought in the dead of night. Jimmy was neither of them, but in this case, other than his ulterior motives, he was just happy to cause harm.
He may be a little twisted after all. Who wouldn’t be, if they knew they could hurt a god?
The beauty of fire’s second hottest color dimly lit up the area, just for a second, contesting the moonlight, and torching through every dandelion, thistle, and tall stalk of grass that innocently stood in its way. Blue Fireballs truly seemed to be a solution to everything, as well as fire of any other hotter scale, or complexity.
A moment later, Virena ended up shooting the creature for the second time, bashing her rapidly-moving Fire Sphere against its shifting body.
Yet, despite getting hit four times, which were direct blows that no defenseless Mage could survive, the creature did not yet die. Its low pitched screams continued to echo as if they were in a concert.
It wasn’t easy to kill a god, or something seemingly close to a god, but the team didn’t let that demotivate them.
Vorin, who at this point was more pissed off than scared, flew circles around the creature. He held his dagger sideways, to his right, sliding it across what he assumed to be the face of the creature, as he flew by. He did so three times already, and judging from the creature’s grunts, he knew that he harmed it.
In his perspective, he was attacking a mere source of light. This didn’t seem logical to him, but then again, he fully believed that this ’light’ broke his wing a moment ago, which only fueled his spiteful feelings.
For now, he didn’t care to be logical.
Attacking the ’light’ took precedent too, because he had to time it just right.
If he lagged behind by a split second, Jimmy could end up burning him into a crisp by accident.
Likewise, if he rushed by half a second, Virena would slice him into at least one hundred pieces of charred crow meat.
It wasn’t easy, but he went for the fourth cut nonetheless.
Jimmy poured his entire mana pool on the creature. He shot Blue Fireballs at it up until he only had one-hundred mana points left, and even then, he used those last points on a Yellow Fireball.
Virena had shot it six times so far.
The creature did not fight back, as if it was mocking them with its insane durability. At first, Jimmy thought that it was sadistic to shoot at an opponent that didn’t fight back, but at some point, he noticed that the creature couldn’t fight back, even if it wanted to.
This changed the perspective quite a bit.
The team attacked it two-to-three every second, and in short, an opponent who was constantly pushed on the defensive, couldn’t invest in the offensive.
Jimmy did not want to figure out what attack this thing could muster, if it was given the chance, so after he ran out of mana, he had to push the battle towards a second phase.
"Vorin, get back here!" He shouted, "Virena, keep burning the old bitch!"
