At the Northern Fort

Midnight Room (2)

As I jumped on the bed, I peered into Mr. Rekka's face. It's dark and I don't see it very well, but when I touched my cheek with my forefoot, I got Mr. Rekka's sweat on the meatball. I wonder if this is because I was up and down earlier. Or cold sweat?

I stared at Mr. Rekka in a strange way and thought for a moment. Are you so hard and nervous because you turned off the candlelight?

"In the dark, in the smell?

Speaking softly, Mr. Rekka opened her eyes and looked over at me.

"Why... did you get it?

It's hard to say because I was asked in a trembling voice, but here's what I answer.

"Eh, anybody can tell."

Mr. Rekka then raised his head with feelings of fear on his face and grabbed my forefoot.

"Please, don't tell anyone. I can't believe I'm afraid of the dark... it's embarrassing for everyone to know that I'm such a child. Even Teena will be disappointed if she finds out that the knight she admires is like this."

"That's not true."

Even I was afraid of the dark, but I stopped thinking that Mr. Rekka might be more embarrassed if he joined me as a child fox. It's hard to encourage people.

"Dear Mill, please"

"Well, I won't tell you. If Mr. Rekka doesn't want you to say it, I won't."

I relieved Mr. Rekka by licking his cheek. I wonder if Rekka wanted a room alone because she couldn't sleep with someone in the room brightened up.

"Thank you"

With that said, Mr. Rekka started his abs mostly on the bed.

Why, now!?

"Why, plump...?

"When I'm working out my body, I feel I can unify my spirit. Fear of darkness softens."

I say it at high speed and with my abs, so the bed started to giggle.

"Mr. Teena will keep it."

"That's troublesome"

But when he stops muscle treading, Mr. Rekka shudders again.

"Shit, I'll make you a good one. Maybe brighter than the candlelight."

I don't think I'm going to sneeze, so I change to human form first.

When I stared at my little palm and concentrated, wanting to reassure Mr. Rekka, the white light slowly floated up. Bigger than the usual fairies.

Besides, the fairy doesn't fly around busily, illuminating her face fluttering next to Mr. Rekka.

I get a little nervous about whether this calm, serene kid is really my fairy.

"Dear Mill, this is..."

"It's my fault, I guess"

Too good, though.

But perhaps, because I thought of Mr. Rekka when I created him, a different fairy was born.

I was giving this fairy a mission to reassure Mr. Rekka.

I remembered that fairies can have a role, just as my mother made me a fairy for directions when I went to visit Wang Du.

Mr. Rekka stares at the white light as if he was caught in his heart and reaches out softly.

Then the fairy shuddered once like a tickle.

"Beautiful. I've never seen such a beautiful light."

Mr. Rekka seemed to have forgotten his fear of the dark for a while.

"I'm sure you'll be able to sleep because I'm here at last. I'm with you."

I lay down in the back of the bed in a mannequin, pounding and slamming next door. Come on, let's go to sleep.

Mr. Rekka laughs a little and falls asleep as he is told.

So he stared at me bright white from hair to skin to costume and said quietly.

"Master Mill, too, seems to shine pale in darkness. It may be rude to say this to the Spirit, but he looks like an angel to me right now."

They put their hands around the base of the fox ear, so I close my eyes in anticipation that I was going to stroke my head. I love being stroked even when I'm human.

But then Mr. Lekka's hand stopped, so I lifted my just closed eyelid.

"... hey"

Mr. Rekka slept easily as he was relieved, in the light of the fairy. I was disappointed that I didn't get it, but I wish I had slept properly.

Stay here till morning.

When I dived in my voice and asked the fairy, the fairy flashed once to say I understood.

I grabbed Rekka's hand and moved it while it was resting on my head, and as I was self-indulging, my long hair fell from the top of the bunk bed.

"Mil......"

"Hih...!

I was surprised that Mr. Teena was only looking at us from the second stage of the bed and being in the first, but like a raw neck.

I made sure Mr. Rekka was asleep and went right down to bed. Mr. Teena also uses the ladder to come down.

"I'm sorry, are you finally dazzled?

"No, it's okay. Because it's just so bright."

"Mr. Tina...... Are you listening to me?

When I asked, Mr. Tina nodded small.

"Yep..."

"Are you shocked?

Teena looked complicated, so I asked her unexpectedly. I wondered if you didn't want to know the weak part of the admirer.

But Ms. Tina shook her head immediately to my question and made it clear.

"No, that's not true. I do not change my admiration for Mr. Rekka. I was just wondering if there was anything I could do."

"Oh, well, good."

I said safely. And go on.

"How can Mr. Rekka be frightened of the dark? Was there any trigger?

"I don't know."

I know a lot of people are afraid of the dark, but Mr. Rekka's reaction is worse than normal. I could have predicted there would be some trauma in the dark.

"But Mr. Rekka didn't want me to know about this. Should I just pretend like I haven't noticed? You shouldn't be asking questions, right?

Mr. Tina crouched down and took my hand. I was wondering what would be best for Mr. Rekka, and he seems a little confused.

"Maybe we should pretend not to know. Even if I did, I still don't feel like talking."

I turned my gaze slightly towards Mr. Lekka, who was asleep, before continuing.

"I think I'll make it every night, so the night will be right. Then maybe the darkness gets a little less frightening. What do you mean, we'll take a look at it for a while?

Agreed.

It wasn't Mr. Teena who answered my words in a whisper.

"Woodbalm, were you keeping it?

"Yeah, I probably woke up as much as Teena, and I heard about Rekka"

I say it backwards. I was in the same room, so I can't help but hear you without trying to ask.

"It would be nice if revealing to someone would make it easier for Lecca, but so far, it seems like she doesn't want anyone to know but Milfilia. I've always been normal."

"Well, I'd like to help, and I'm curious... but I'll see what happens."

The three of us watched quietly as the fairy's blue and white light enveloped Mr. Rekka.
