Chapter 337: Fuzai is Back
Compared to his quiet older brothers, Little Wolf was much more lively.
’Little Wolf is just as lively as Fuzai,’ Yu An thought. ’They must have inherited that from their Beast Fathers.’
After all, among her Beast Husbands, only Han Li and Ao Wu were the rowdy ones.
Little Wolf tugged on Yu An’s arm, wanting to go for a walk around town. Yu An readily agreed and took him out.
They hadn’t gotten a chance to properly explore last time, so on this trip, she and Little Wolf wandered through the streets and alleys, buying all sorts of things and sampling the local cuisine.
Yu An then discovered that the boy had boundless energy; he didn’t seem tired at all after a full day of walking around.
Little Wolf spotted some bracelets he liked at a small stall and was holding up two of them, trying to decide which was prettier.
Yu An wasn’t short on money, so she said casually, "You like them, Zaizai? Then let’s just buy both."
Little Wolf shook his head. "It’s a gift for my Female Mother. I want to buy it with my own savings."
The vendor smiled. "You’re very fortunate, Madam. Your young son is so thoughtful."
"Take your time and choose, Young Master. All my jewelry is the latest fashion, and I’ll give you the best price on anything you pick."
Little Wolf had his heart set on those two bracelets. As he held them up, still struggling to decide, a small figure appeared in his line of sight.
Framed within the circle of one of the bracelets, tiny little Fuzai came into view.
"It’s my sister!"
Little Wolf jumped up in excitement. Yu An saw her too and, completely forgetting about the bracelets, scooped up Little Wolf and dashed toward Fuzai.
The vendor cried out in alarm, "Hey, hey, my bracelets—"
Just as the vendor was about to give chase, Han Li appeared out of nowhere. "Here," he said. "Keep the change."
Little Wolf had summoned him to be their bag carrier. His main job was to pay for things and carry their purchases, but he wasn’t supposed to be seen by the mother-son duo.
Little Wolf had specifically insisted on this point, because as soon as a Beast Father showed up, their Female Mother’s attention would be split, with half of it going to him!
’You have to spoil your own kid,’ Han Li thought, taking it as a compliment. He played the part of an elusive Hidden Guard.
"Female Mother! Big Brother!"
Fuzai was thrilled. She had just entered Earth Geography City and already saw her Female Mother and her big brother, Little Wolf!
She threw herself into Little Wolf’s arms with such force that she nearly knocked him over. Luckily, Yu An was right behind him to steady him.
Yu An scooped one up in each arm. She couldn’t get enough of looking at the daughter she’d been separated from for so long.
"Female Mother, Female Mother, Zaizai missed you so, so much! I even dreamed about you~"
Fuzai wrapped her arms around Yu An’s neck, nuzzling against her and telling her how much she missed her in a sweet, childish voice. Seeing that he hadn’t been mentioned, Little Wolf gave his sister an aggrieved poke.
"Sister, what about me?"
"I missed you too, Fifth Brother," Fuzai said sweetly—she was a sweet-talker to everyone. "I missed you the very most! I even dreamed about you!"
’This little one,’ Yu An thought. ’She doesn’t even change her lines.’
But Little Wolf was completely won over. He said he missed Fuzai the most, too—even in his dreams.
’It’s time to send these little ones to school,’ Yu An thought.
The two of them, busy chattering about how much they’d missed each other, suddenly shivered. Then Fuzai announced, "Female Mother, I found Grandma and Grandpa!"
Seeing Fuzai’s reaction, Shen Zi and Mo Feng knew that the woman before them must be her Female Mother—in other words, their daughter-in-law.
Since they had never met, no one quite knew what to say. Thankfully, Fuzai was there to break the ice.
She chattered away, introducing everyone, then announced she was tired and wanted to go home and rest.
"Female Mother, Beast Father, let’s go home now."
Yu An was the first to speak. "You must be tired from your journey. Let’s get you home so you can rest."
"Alright, alright."
Hearing Yu An address them so openly, Shen Zi relaxed.
She had a naturally cheerful and straightforward personality, and she was already chatting happily with Yu An before they even made it back to the small courtyard.
Han Li and Mo Feng followed behind, each carrying one of the children. The two of them, however, felt a little awkward.
After a few steps, Han Li belatedly realized that Mo Feng was... his...
"Uncle."
Mo Feng was confused. "Uncle? Young man, are you talking to me?"
"Yes," Han Li cleared his throat. "Uncle, my Female Mother is your younger sister, Mo Yan."
Mo Feng froze, then said in disbelief, "Mo Yan? She’s... she’s still alive? No, that’s not right... Yan’er is still alive!"
He was so flustered that anyone who didn’t know the situation might have thought he wasn’t happy his sister, Mo Yan, was alive.
Mo Feng was babbling incoherently. Fortunately, Shen Zi, who was walking ahead, heard the commotion and immediately turned to ask Yu An if it was true.
"It’s true," Yu An confirmed with a nod. "It’s a long story..."
She gave them a brief summary, explaining that they could discuss the details once everyone was properly reunited.
The couple had both believed his sister was dead. Upon hearing this wonderful news, they were overcome with joy and could hardly wait to get back to the courtyard.
In the courtyard, Mo Yan was planting flowers with the children. Han Fengyun carried water while Han Xiaoyun dug holes in the soil, creating a lively, bustling scene.
Ao Wu and Lan Yin were sunbathing nearby, looking perfectly content.
In truth, they were out of options. Yu An was busy with the children now and wouldn’t give them the time of day.
"Do you think..." Ao Wu began, his voice low, "...that An’an is getting tired of us?"
Lan Yin mused, "It’s possible. What if we..."
Ao Wu started at the same time, "What if we..."
"Learn some new tricks!" they both blurted out.
Ao Wu sat up in his lounge chair. "I think that could work. A city as prosperous as Earth Geography City must have those kinds of places described in storybooks... you know, shops that cater specifically to women."
’Those business owners must know more than upstanding family men like us. If we could just learn a few things...’
"Little Sister!"
Da Hu’s feet had gone numb from squatting, so he stood up to stretch his limbs. The moment he was on his feet, he saw Yu An, and Fuzai nestled in Han Li’s arms.
His shout made everyone in the courtyard look up at once. In the next moment, Han Li was surrounded.
"Ahem," Han Li coughed. "Miss me this much? I wasn’t gone for that long..."
"What are you mumbling about? Hand her over!"
Ao Wu, using his height to his advantage, snatched Fuzai right out of his arms and immediately tossed her high into the air.
"Zaizai, did you miss your Beast Father or what!"
He caught Fuzai securely as she came down and showered her with kisses.
"Beast Father, Beast Father, put me down!"
Fuzai pushed him away with a look of disdain and then launched herself toward her brothers. "Zaizai missed her big brothers! So, so much! I even dreamed about you!"
Ao Wu: "..."
’So she didn’t miss me at all, huh!’
Elsewhere, Shen Zi and Mo Feng were face to face with Mo Yan, the younger sister they hadn’t seen in years. For a moment, they were too choked with emotion to speak.
Mo Yan was the first to move, throwing herself into Shen Zi’s arms and crying out, "Sister-in-law!"
"We’re together now, aren’t we?"
With tears in her own eyes, Shen Zi smiled and patted her back. "There, there, don’t cry. You’re a grown woman now. Still crying like a little kid?"
"I’m going to cry," Mo Yan said playfully. "When I’m with you, Sister-in-law, I’m still a little kid."
They had practically grown up together, and Mo Yan was even closer to her sister-in-law, Shen Zi, than she was to her own brother, Mo Feng.
The small courtyard filled with joyous chatter and laughter. When Xue Ying arrived with Tongtong, the children went completely wild.
Yu An watched from the sidelines, her thoughts suddenly turning to Mo Yan and Feng Xuan, and poor, unlucky Lan Ying.
’The three of them are still at the temple. I wonder when we’ll all be able to be together again.’
Lan Yin walked over and draped an arm around Yu An’s shoulders. "An’an, are you thinking about them?"
"Yeah," Yu An sighed. "You and Lan Ying sealed the Divine Hall Spirit, so I’m not that worried about him. But I have no idea how Mo Yan and Feng Xuan are doing."
