Chapter 46: My living expenses are 2,000 a month, can you afford to pay?
"So you’re not going to apologize, is that it?"
Lin Feng strode forward, frowning.
Behind him, Yang Qiniang and the other two followed.
For some reason, as soon as Lin Feng arrived, Yang Qiniang and his friends seemed to find their courage.
They had been holding back before, but now that Lin Feng was walking forward, they dared to walk forward too.
"What do you want? You gonna hit me?"
"Come on, then! Go ahead and try!"
The group of guys opposite them saw Lin Feng and his friends approaching.
They subconsciously took a step back.
But perhaps feeling like he was losing face, their leader spoke up again.
"That’s enough!"
"Who has time to waste hitting you?"
Seeing their posturing, Lin Feng couldn’t help but be amused.
"We’re all university students."
"Can you stop acting like children?"
"It’s pretty embarrassing."
Lin Feng shook his head and then scanned his surroundings.
Noticing that everyone was watching, he said, "With so many people looking, do you think acting like this makes you look good?"
"Or perhaps you’d like to see your name on the school’s bulletin board tomorrow?"
Lin Feng didn’t make a move, just spoke to the other guy with a calm expression.
It was as if he were stating something that was already a fact.
"Of course, you can choose not to apologize and keep up this tough act."
"But whether or not you’ll be able to stay at Yang City University... that, I don’t know."
As Lin Feng spoke, a meaningful smile appeared on his face.
Then, the guys across from them panicked.
No, that’s not right. It was everyone except for their leader.
The other three panicked.
They had just come out for a meal together.
They never intended to cause trouble.
It was just that things had reached this point, and when they tried to leave, Yang Qiniang’s group had blocked them.
They had been putting on a brave face just to save their pride.
But now that Lin Feng had arrived, the atmosphere changed in an instant.
The story of how Lin Feng had dealt with those two rumor-mongers was still making the rounds on the campus network!
They had only insulted Su Ruoxi a couple of times on the campus network.
And they were sent straight to jail for it.
After getting out, they were even expelled from the university.
That incident hadn’t even been that long ago; they couldn’t forget it even if they tried.
So, they were more than a little wary of the man standing before them.
"Guo Wei, maybe we should just apologize and be done with it."
"It’s just a few plates of food. We can just avoid this cafeteria from now on."
"Yeah, let’s not blow this out of proportion."
His three roommates were starting to chicken out, all trying to persuade their leader.
"You guys!"
The boy named Guo Wei clearly hadn’t expected his own roommates to chicken out before the other side had even done anything.
He was so angry he was at a loss for words.
"Alright, Guo Wei, is it?"
"I don’t care who you are back home."
"But here, if you blow this up, the punishment you receive will definitely be worse than ours."
"Of course, if you want to make a scene, feel free to try."
Lin Feng added one last threat.
The other three, who were already hesitating, immediately gave in.
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry."
One of them walked over, said sorry to Song Yaqi, and then left immediately.
He didn’t even spare Guo Wei a second glance.
The remaining two exchanged a glance, also came over, and apologized to Song Yaqi.
One of them even asked how much he needed to pay in compensation.
Song Yaqi quickly waved her hands, indicating that no compensation was needed.
Seeing that Song Yaqi didn’t want compensation, the guy pulled two hundred-yuan bills from his pocket, stuffed them into her hand, and then left.
Lin Feng had been there for less than two minutes.
Of the four who had been so arrogant moments before, only the one named Guo Wei was still holding out.
"What’s going on here?"
"What are you all doing?"
However, just as Lin Feng was about to put more pressure on Guo Wei,
a middle-aged man’s voice rang out.
Lin Feng’s group turned to look.
A pot-bellied man in a suit was walking over.
The dress shirt under his suit was stretched taut over his belly.
Just looking at that stomach was enough to tell he was well-off.
"Oh no, the boss is here."
Song Yaqi’s expression changed the instant she saw the man.
"Your boss?"
Jiang Chao asked in surprise.
Lin Feng and the others heard her too.
"Yeah. You guys should leave, quickly."
Song Yaqi’s voice had dropped to a whisper.
But even so, the pot-bellied man still spotted Song Yaqi.
"Song Yaqi!"
"Can you explain to me just what the hell is going on here?"
"I run a restaurant at this school and pay your salary. Did I hire you to cause trouble?"
The boss had clearly heard one side of the story before he came over.
He immediately started chewing out Song Yaqi.
"If you can do the job, then do it. If you can’t, then get the hell out."
"I never should have taken pity on you and that other little girl and let you work here!"
As he spoke, the fat boss walked closer.
He got right in Song Yaqi’s face and started cursing her out, pointing his finger at her nose.
Now that he was closer, Lin Feng and the others could smell the thick stench of alcohol on him.
’How much did this guy have to drink to reek so strongly of booze?’
Song Yaqi just stood there meekly, taking the abuse like a punching bag.
But Jiang Chao couldn’t take it anymore.
He already had a crush on Song Yaqi, so how could he possibly stand by and watch someone insult his goddess like that?
"Hey! Watch how you talk!"
"They were the ones who started trouble first! Why are you taking it out on Song Yaqi?"
"As a boss, instead of protecting your own employee, you just start yelling without even asking what happened?"
The moment Jiang Chao spoke up,
Lin Feng knew this was a mistake.
Sure enough, the pot-bellied man immediately turned his fire on Jiang Chao.
"And who the hell are you, kid?"
"I pay Song Yaqi’s salary. You think I can’t yell at her?"
"Besides, because of this little incident of hers, do you have any idea how much of a loss I’ve taken?"
The fat boss pointed at Jiang Chao and let loose a torrent of abuse.
"Take a good look at what time it is."
"It’s the dinner rush!"
"But because of this mess,"
"look around! How many people are still eating now?"
"Who’s going to compensate me for the lost business? You?"
the fat boss demanded, jutting his chin out.
"I’ll pay! Fine! How much? You name it!"
Jiang Chao was hot-tempered, especially when he was being yelled at in front of the girl he liked.
Anyone would’ve snapped in his shoes.
"You’ll pay?"
Hearing Jiang Chao’s words, the fat boss let out a cold sneer.
"Little kid, don’t try to act like a big shot in front of me with the allowance your parents give you."
"I make 300,000 a month, that’s 10,000 a day."
"The time you’ve wasted has already cost me several thousand."
"With your monthly allowance of one or two thousand, you think you can afford it?"
