Becoming a God Starts with Acting

Chapter 564: The Lie Detector Game

Almost the moment Silvanus finished speaking, everyone who wasn’t present at the scene couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath.

Although the host had been genuinely enthusiastic, no one had ever dared speak to him in such a tone!

Sure enough, the host froze for a split second. However, with that thick crying mask and mechanical body, it was impossible to discern any of his true emotions.

[Holy shit, he’s so arrogant! This is the first time I’ve seen an artist this arrogant!]

[As expected, when you’ve got powerful backing, you can act however you want!]

[I’m absolutely obsessed with Silvanus whenever he acts this arrogant!]

Since this was a shared livestream room, the artists’ comments were mixed together with the viewers’ comments. The artists could also see the comments that they would normally only encounter inside a dungeon.

[So this is the viewers’ type?]

[What type? As long as someone’s good-looking, they’ll love them!]

[What nonsense are you shallow people talking about? Silvanus has his own unique charm, got it?]

Because they were afraid of accidentally offending their own supporters, most artists tended to be tolerant toward viewers and avoided arguing with them.

Of course, not every viewer liked Silvanus. For many of them, this was even their first time seeing him.

[I just love watching arrogant people fall. The expressions on their faces are always freaking hilarious, hahaha.]

[Anyway, I’m really looking forward to seeing Gorin get angry.]

At that moment, the host—or rather, Gorin—tilted his head as he looked at Silvanus. Yet somehow, that posture and that mask made Silvanus feel that Gorin looked a little pitiful.

Silvanus narrowed his eyes. Before he could say anything, Gorin suddenly straightened up. From that angle, he appeared even more towering and gigantic, while Silvanus, sitting in his chair, looked as tiny as an ant.

Gorin let out a cackling laugh, spun around with exaggerated flair, then sat down in his own chair directly across from—and only a short distance away from—Silvanus.

He spread his hands and shrugged. "I was going to give you a little more time to prepare, but your arrogance is truly an eyesore."

Snap!

His two iron fingers struck together, sending out sparks with a sharp, resonant clang.

The next instant, the entire room seemed to transform as effortlessly as a scene change in a game.

In the blink of an eye, Silvanus felt his body sway slightly. He tried to stop himself from instinctively leaning to one side.

Then, countless rounds of applause and bursts of laughter erupted, echoing so loudly that they became almost deafening.

Silvanus frowned slightly and looked up. The brightly lit room from moments ago had become eerily dim, so dark that the surrounding walls were swallowed by the shadows. Only the area where they sat remained visible. Above them, the ceiling was covered with countless speakers that continuously vibrated with every wave of sound they emitted.

Directly above Silvanus’s head, separated only by a layer of air, hovered a hollow hemispherical machine.

Countless slimy, grotesque tentacles were attached to it, writhing and twisting in a bizarre, nauseating dance.

A faint light shone down from above, casting an eerie, hazy glow across Silvanus’s face.

Silvanus tried to move. He discovered that only his fingers could twitch; the rest of his body seemed firmly locked in place against the cold iron chair.

Perfect.

The scene looked exactly like the beginning of a torture session.

[A A A A A, it started so fast!]

[That’s why I always love arrogant people, hahaha. The faster they piss Gorin off, the sooner the special show begins.]

[I can’t wait to see the look of agony on his face. Khe he he he he.]

[I wonder if Silvanus is regretting his attitude just now. LOL.]

At that moment, the sound of footsteps suddenly echoed through the room.

From the darkness, Gorin’s towering figure slowly emerged.

The applause and laughter gradually faded, replaced by waves of static, like a broken television struggling to find a signal.

Gorin sat down across from Silvanus, separated by a small table. Although his mask still wore the same exaggerated crying expression, Silvanus could almost sense the smug grin hidden beneath it.

"Welcome, beautiful guest, to Gorin’s Podcast of Life and Death!"

"You may call me Gorin, of course."

The moment Gorin finished speaking, the countless speakers overhead burst into thunderous applause once more, the deafening sound shaking the listeners’ eardrums.

Silvanus felt as though his eardrums were about to rupture. Prolonged exposure to such overwhelming noise would also affect a person’s hearing and even their judgment.

So this was the game this time?

Silvanus merely stared at Gorin. There wasn’t the slightest trace of fear—or any other emotion—on his face.

Instead, Gorin suddenly laughed.

"Your gaze truly fascinates me. The feeling that you’re ready to dismantle me piece by piece excites me so much I’m trembling. Hahaha!"

Silvanus smiled faintly.

"Don’t worry. I’ll be dismantling you piece by piece soon enough."

Gorin nodded in satisfaction.

"To remain so arrogant and utterly fearless even at a time like this! I truly like you!"

"Then let the challenge begin right now!"

Almost immediately afterward, a sharp pain shot through Silvanus’s brain, as though a needle had pierced straight into it.

His eyes flew open. Instinctively, he looked up, only to have the bluish-white light emitted by the bizarre machine above his head stab painfully into his eyes.

It was obvious that the machine was attacking his mind. Realizing this, Silvanus’s gaze turned icy.

However, he soon discovered that the divine energy within him had already isolated and blocked the machine’s lethal influence. Judging by Gorin’s smug expression, though, the man seemed completely unaware of it.

Which made perfect sense. Even if he was only a self-proclaimed, newly ascended, and completely unknown god, Silvanus was still a god.

Perhaps no one with the power of a deity had ever sat in this seat before. After all, gods were inherently arrogant—they certainly didn’t have to struggle just to survive the way Silvanus did.

At the same time, Gorin’s voice rang out once again.

"The Lie Detection Challenge. The adorable little darling above your head accepts nothing but the truth! So don’t lie, or your brain will turn into a delicious bowl of sweet red bean soup just for me, my dear."

"And the first question is..."
