The people from the fleeing group stared at him in disbelief.

’’What?!’’

’’Are you fucking insane?!’’

They didn’t have much choice.

Several Dragonfang members had already turned their weapons towards them, making it clear they weren’t going to move.

’’Fucking bastards!’’ one of the men cursed.

The group quickly split apart.

Some rushed towards the right, while four others headed directly towards Theo and his friends.

Theo’s expression immediately changed.

’’Don’t even think about going behind us!’’ he shouted, twelve huge lightning bolts already crackling above him.

Leaving their backs to some random people was the last thing he wanted to do right now.

Especially not after they’d pulled this entire swarm towards them without hesitation.

The four people slowed down in disbelief.

’’You too?!’’

Theo didn’t respond, his attention having shifted past them.

SCREEECH!

Nearly three dozen C-rank vultures broke away from the main swarm and dove straight towards them.

Without another thought, Theo fired off his lightning bolts.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The bolts slammed directly into the vultures.

Large holes were instantly blasted through the bodies of the ones at the front, flesh and feathers disintegrating wherever the lightning passed.

Eight vultures instantly started tumbling through the air.

The others reacted immediately.

Large chunks of sandstone tore out of the ground, forming thick walls in front of themselves just in time.

BOOOOM!!!

The walls exploded apart, sending countless chunks of stone flying through the air.

But they had done their job.

At the same time, a wave of hundreds of metal petals flew past Theo.

Instead of attacking the vultures head-on, the petals suddenly split apart.

WHOOSH!

They curved around the remaining earth walls from both sides before shooting towards the vultures behind them.

SHHK! SHHK!

Hundreds of petals sliced holes through their wings.

Four vultures immediately lost control of their bodies and began falling towards the ground.

Before they could recover, the metal petals gathered above them and transformed into four massive spikes.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

All four vultures were nailed to the ground.

Seeing another two dozen vultures rapidly approaching, the members of the fleeing group grew anxious.

’’Let us through, god damn it!’’ one of the men shouted desperately.

As he tried pushing through, Owen pulled his sledgehammer off the ground and pointed it towards the man.

’’You move over here,’’ he said coldly. ’’You die.’’

’’Are you trying to drive us to our deaths?!’’ a young woman shouted desperately.

Owen’s head snapped towards her.

’’We could ask you the same fucking thing!’’ he shouted back. ’’You’re the ones who brought all these things to us!’’

’’We didn’t have a choice!’’ the woman shouted once more.

She fell on her knees, her hands together as she continued pleading.

’’Please, let us through,’’ she said, tears streaming down her face. ’’We promise we won’t bring any further harm!’’

Owen opened his mouth, unsure what to say.

But Theo had long turned towards them, his expression ice-cold as a faint thudding noise echoed through his mind.

’’Don’t let them through,’’ he said. ’’Actually, let’s ki—’’

Before Theo could continue, a loud scream rang out far on their right.

’’OVER HERE!’’ one of the fleeing members shouted.

Everyone’s gaze shifted over.

The remaining members of the fleeing group had already reached the Imperial Church. And unlike Dragonfang, they weren’t being stopped.

’’They’re letting us through!’’ another shouted. ’’Come on!’’

The four people near Theo immediately kicked off the ground, wind surrounding them as they sped away.

Two large chain-lightning spheres formed beside Theo as his eyes followed them.

But before he could do something, several loud screeches rang out above.

The remaining vultures swooped down, their claws having transformed into razor-sharp earth spikes.

’Fuck.’

CRACKLE! CRACKLE!

Theo released the two chain-lightning spheres instantly.

Before they’d even flown two yards, chaos mana enveloped the spheres.

WHOOSH!

They shot through the sky at unbelievable speeds.

The front two vultures didn’t even stand a chance.

The bolts slammed straight through the sandstone covering their bodies.

Their bodies charred instantly, steam still rising above them.

Before the corpses could fall, though, the lightning jumped out.

CRACKLE! CRACKLE! CRACKLE!

Like a chain, the lightning spread from one vulture to another.

Vultures began dropping one after another.

Only after eight vultures had died did the bolts finally vanish from the air.

Having a bit of time, Theo’s eyes darted across the battlefield again.

Both Dragonfang and the Imperial Church were fighting a B-rank alongside a dozen C-ranks by themselves.

And the group of fleeing people? They’d long gathered up behind their backs.

’I can’t deal with them right now,’ he thought, gritting his teeth.

The remaining group with forty C-rank vultures had almost caught up to the battlefield.

’If those things reach either of the B-ranks, we’re going to have a problem.’

Lightning immediately began coursing through Theo’s body.

Before he could move, Owen’s voice rang out beside him.

’’Go,’’ he said. ’’We can handle things here.’’

Theo glanced over right away.

Much to his surprise, Owen had already started transforming.

Seeing his friend grow into a rock monster, he smiled slightly.

’’Have fun!’’ he shouted before kicking off.

Theo shot forward across the battlefield, his skin glowing with yellow light.

As he passed the Dragonfang group, he couldn’t help but speak up.

’’DARIUS!’’ he shouted loudly.

The brute man’s head snapped towards him instantly.

’’Watch your back!’’ Theo continued. ’’Those people are up to something!’’

Darius’s expression immediately changed.

His eyes darted towards the strangers at the back.

But Theo had no time to hear his response.

His eyes had already locked onto the large group of vultures in front of him.

’Ah,’ he thought, smiling. ’Fighting alone suits me so much better.’

’No need to worry about hitting others with my large spells.’

As the shadows of the vultures began blocking out the sun, Theo slid to a halt.

His umbrella immediately opened above his head.

Several huge lightning bolts formed and shot up into the sky in an instant.

They rapidly swirled around each other, forming huge dark thunderclouds overhead.

At the same time, Theo began pouring huge amounts of water mana into the clouds.

’It’s been quite some time since I used this,’ he thought. ’Let’s see how many I can take down with my combination attack!’
