Chapter 130: The Power of an Evil God
Kevin looked coldly at Maduro and said in a harsh voice, "I just heard you talking about coming after me."
"That was a misunderstanding," Ronaldo quickly explained.
"Yeah, yeah. We’d had too much to drink. We were just bragging," Kaka added, backing him up.
Kevin narrowed his eyes and looked at the belts of the Survivors around him. He smiled. "But it looks like your gear is already enough to threaten me."
Hearing this, Maduro quickly wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. "Kevin, our gear is nowhere near as good as yours. We can barely even defend ourselves. Just let us go."
Kevin lowered his eyelids and spoke softly. "Fine. Each of you leaves two C-Tier items behind, and I’ll let you go."
"What? Two C-Tier items each? Why don’t you just rob us?" one Survivor couldn’t help but protest.
Just then, an Eldritch Entity suddenly burst out from the surface of the sea.
It moved fast. It landed right behind the Survivor who had protested and, in front of everyone, slit his throat.
The others watched as their companion, who had been so full of life just moments ago, collapsed onto the deck. They scattered, their faces full of fear.
Then they turned their attention to the Eldritch Entity. To their shock, the creature was standing meekly behind Nova, like a loyal servant.
Seeing this, Kevin frowned immediately.
When did Nova get this kind of power?
Could it be that Pelosi had come back to invade Nova’s soul?
Confused, Kevin gently took Nova’s hand.
But Nova just stuck out her tongue at him. "I just got this power all of a sudden. I was just thinking in my head that I wished an Eldritch Entity would shut him up, and then a white tiger actually jumped out of the water."
Hearing this explanation, Kevin’s eyes widened in shock.
This power was definitely from Pelosi.
Could it be that while Pelosi was occupying Nova’s body, Nova had picked up the ability to command Eldritch Entities from him?
Still confused, Kevin carefully examined Nova’s body.
The Survivors around didn’t dare to disturb Kevin, afraid that they might be the next to die.
After five minutes, Kevin saw that Nova showed no signs of anything wrong, and he finally let out a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, another splash rose from the sea.
Another Eldritch Entity landed on the deck.
Then a third, a fourth, and soon seven or eight Eldritch Entities had appeared on the ship.
They weren’t drawn by the scattered limbs and bodies in the sea. They had actually been summoned by Nova.
This made the Survivors even more nervous.
They took another step back, staring at Kevin and his group in terror.
Seeing this, Maduro gritted his teeth and turned to look at Kaka and Ronaldo.
He could see the same fear in their eyes.
Kaka swallowed hard and whispered, "Maybe we should just agree to his terms. Just the few of them, plus these Eldritch Entities... we might not stand a chance."
Ronaldo nodded quickly. "Yeah, yeah. As long as we’re alive, we can get anything we want. If we die, we lose everything."
Maduro nodded in agreement.
He turned back to Kevin, his voice shaking. "Mr. Kevin, please stop summoning Eldritch Entities. We’ll give you the C-Tier items."
Kevin was a little surprised.
He had only planned to make each of them hand over one C-Tier item. The demand for two each was just a starting point for bargaining.
But because Nova had somehow summoned seven or eight Eldritch Entities, there was no need to negotiate anymore. They had agreed to all his unreasonable demands.
Of course, Kevin wasn’t going to say no.
So, Nova had her Eldritch Entities start collecting the items.
In the end, Kevin and his group returned to the back of the Dragon Form Mist Phantom carrying more than seventy C-Tier items.
"I hope you won’t try to mess with me again. I’d feel bad about robbing you a second time," Kevin said, waving at Maduro and the others. Then he had the Dragon Form Mist Phantom leap into the air and fly off into the distant sky.
Hearing Kevin’s last words, Maduro was so angry he almost coughed up blood. "I never want to see you again in my life."
Kaka and Ronaldo looked at each other and nodded. "Same here."
High in the air, Kevin and the girls started counting their loot again.
All seventy-something C-Tier items were laid out, and they took up the entire back of the Dragon Form Mist Phantom.
Even though there were a lot of them, most of them barely met the standard for C-Tier items.
Kevin didn’t think much of them, and even Nova and the other girls had no use for such low-end C-Tier gear.
Still, there were a lot of them.
Through the girls, Kevin received a return reward of nearly nine hundred C-Tier items.
Now, not only did Kevin have the items he needed, but he had nine times more than he originally required.
When converted, these C-Tier items were enough to trade for eleven A-Tier items from Lilith.
Kevin was absolutely thrilled.
A couple of days ago, Lilith had lowered her Affection toward Kevin because he had caused her trouble.
But if Kevin showed up with thousands of C-Tier items to do business with her, she would probably get down on her knees and say, "I was wrong."
With that thought, Kevin was in a great mood. He led Nova and flew toward the next fleet.
Since he already had enough items, he headed straight for the area with the most Survivors.
Sure enough, the next target was a group of four ships lined up together, having a party.
Almost the exact same celebration as Maduro’s group was happening. The Survivors were singing and dancing, shouting that they would catch Kevin and split his wealth among themselves.
The girls listened to the familiar lines and looked at Kevin with amused expressions.
Kevin rubbed his forehead and sighed. "Same script again. Ladies, let’s do this one more time."
The girls chuckled and picked up their White Wolf’s Eyes, heading back to their shooting positions.
Soon, the Fish Fiend Squad dropped Eldritch Entity organs and blood from the sky again.
The fog rolled over the sea, and a large number of Eldritch Entities gathered.
But this time, before Kevin could even give an order to the Dragon Form Mist Phantom, Nova instinctively covered her mouth.
"Wait," she said. The moment she spoke, the Eldritch Entities that had surfaced all gathered around.
They lined up like soldiers waiting for their general, saluting Nova in perfect formation.
Kevin stared in shock, then turned to Nova. "Can you control this power freely?"
Nova nodded slightly, then quickly shook her head. "It’s not easy to control. But I think I can try to learn it."
Nova began to hum different tunes.
Soon, the Eldritch Entities on the sea started making all sorts of movements in response to the melodies she sent out.
Somehow, Nova must have sung a happy song, because the Eldritch Entities actually started dancing on the water.
On the decks of the four ships nearby, the Survivors watched nervously.
When they saw the Eldritch Entities dancing on the sea, they were all stunned.
"What the hell? Are the Eldritch Entities having a dance party?"
"No, it looks like they’re putting on a show for the people up in the sky."
"Oh my god. Those guys are terrifying."
As Nova switched the melody she was singing, the Eldritch Entities stopped dancing.
Then she changed to a more intense song. The Eldritch Entities listened and immediately formed neat lines, looking fierce and ready, like soldiers about to charge into battle.
The Survivors on the four ships saw this and instinctively raised their guns.
They were terrified that the hundreds of Eldritch Entities in front of them would rush at them.
Kevin and the other girls stood quietly behind Nova.
They watched her nervously, but Nova’s singing became more relaxed and gentle.
She started trying to combine different melodies, different voices, and different pitches to control the Eldritch Entities.
And sure enough, the Eldritch Entities began to split into different formations, following Nova’s commands.
Some danced, some prepared to charge, some rested in place, and some took defensive positions.
As Nova grew more skilled at controlling them, the volume of her singing slowly dropped.
Eventually, even just a slight change in her tone was enough to make the Eldritch Entities perform different actions.
By the time Nova went completely silent, the Eldritch Entities could still carry out her orders just by her thoughts.
At that point, Nova had fully mastered how to control the Eldritch Entities.
At the same time, Kevin heard a long-awaited notification sound in his ear.
[Ding. Detected that your covenant-bearer Nova has absorbed the spiritual power of an evil god. Spirit attribute increased by 3 points. You receive a 15x reward bonus. Spirit attribute increased by 45 points.]
[Ding. Detected that your covenant-bearer Nova has mastered the evil god’s power "Mind Network". She can now summon nearby Eldritch Entities and command them to carry out tasks. Summoning Eldritch Entities will continuously consume her own mental energy. When her mental energy runs out, the Eldritch Entities will 100% turn against her. Summon range and summon quantity are limited by mental energy. You receive a 15x reward bonus. Your summon range and summon quantity are 15 times greater than Nova’s.]
[Note: To command Eldritch Entities in battle, you need to train your mental and spiritual waves through singing. The specific techniques must be discovered by the host on your own.]
Kevin’s eyes lit up instantly.
This news was a huge surprise for Kevin.
Kevin was sure that in his past life, the Nova who was called the [Cantor] must have been possessed by the evil god Pelosi and turned into a puppet.
But in this life, because Kevin saved her, Nova gained her freedom early. And while Pelosi was controlling her body, she used muscle memory and soul memory to steal a part of the evil god Pelosi’s power.
Now, even without Pelosi, Nova could master the exact same power she had in her past life.
